Apparently the writers DID NOT intend for Diane to be a hated villain and actually intended for her to be seen as the voice of reason and morality on the show. What the frick
She reflects narcissistic liberals who pretend to do anything.
A.K.A. writers
Her character reminds me of Brian in Family Guy, who was meant to be the "voice of reason" but became so annoying that even Seth McFarlane got tired of his character even though it was meant to reflect him.
Did he, Seth stopped being part of the writing long before the show shit on Brian. They also flanderized him to make him like that. Show should of stayed dead after season 3.
She was just figuring herself out. It's self-aware and edgy but not to the point of being offensive, because it ultimately says everything about what a woman is is Not Her Fault.
She got fat because of her anti-depression meds, I guess they were trying to say get mental health taken care of but you'll get fat? I'll be real I think they changed how they were writing the last season because of the Me Too movement. I don't think it was that big of a reach since before it was about pointing out how shitty the rich and famous are, still annoyed me though. A story shouldn't change midway because of current events unless it's something like South Park which is making fun of current events.
>I guess they were trying to say get mental health taken care of but you'll get fat?
Massive weight gain is common side effect of taking anti-depressants.
Taking those drugs makes you not stress over things, that's the point of taking it. So for undisciplined people like her what that means is they notice they gained weight but the drug makes them not care. It's like you guys have no experience with the human race. The whole show is about showing these characters at basically their worst while trying to be better.

>While trying to be better
Trying implies some level of doing, she wasn't. She just took it out on her bf and got emotional like most women do.

Trying doesn't mean a full on perfect ending because that's not real life for most people. Her character arc is >young idealist with visions to change the world and be the best __ ever >becomes bitter and uptight being around people that are not the type of people she envisioned would be in her life >spirals and loses marriage, friends, dream job >realizes she can't blame everyone for her problems >takes meds to help cope, understands everyone in life is just trying to make the best of their situation >finds a chill dude who can put up with her bs >he already has a kid from a previous marriage and puts no pressure on her to to assume a motherly role or to even improve herself that much >he's already tired from whatever bad relationship he was in and just wants to chill with her >she accepts that her life isn't perfect but she's happy
Every character that doesn't go off the deep end is shooting for the stars then spiraling before making a controlled descent to some place comfortable

Diane faces multiple times in the show where she realizes shes kind of an asshat who either doesnt really help anything or cant help
>you see mr. peanutbutter is actually toxic because... uh... well... he buys his wife too much stuff!
Why are liberals such terminally unhappy and bitter people
Mr. Peanutbutter is clearly shallow and fake-nice. It's probably better than being as terminally negative as Bojack, but it still isn't healthy, and I wouldn't want to spend time around someone like that.
That pug girl was perfect for him because they're both like children. They have 2-second attention spans and they're cheerful about the smallest things, like dogs... That's essentially the running joke of the show. They're dogs and their personalities reflect that.
Also Peanutbutter and Diane were clearly never compatible, but he was so desperate to hold onto her that he showered her with gifts and excused her shitty behavior. He should have just dumped her from the get-go. I honestly don't understand why he stayed with her as long as he did.
90% of socal is histrionic people like mr peanutbutter, just that IRL theyd be trying to get bojack fired for quote tweeting trump or something while completely ignoring/covering up/being complicit in bojack choking out actresses hes fricking in a drug fueled haze and him trying to frick teenagers
Kek I like how they did the Maus crossover with the rat bf but it failed cause behind closed doors they were still bigoted of cats and saw no problem with it.
Bojak literally never did anything wrong in his entire life
what did he do?
17 year old
>drug abuse
>sabotage of careers
>cheating with his friend's crush
>choked out a co-worker near to death
>innapropiate relationship with a daughter-figure
>innapropiate relationship with a minor

Sounds like a chad to me
>innapropiate relationship with a daughter-figure

>becomes a fat single and childless slob chugging SSRIs in her mid 30s at the end of the show
>it's portrayed as a good thing
are millennials okay?

For some.
Yeah no shit. What's your point?

And funnily enough exercise will fix both!
She's like that chick who wishes she was as witty and clever as Daria, but she just isn't.
That character type which is in fact Princess Carolyn
You just know the creator of this show loved the simpsosn, because he made an even shittier version of Lisa.
She's inspired by Daria
lol wat
in concept art she was going to be a tv producer
By the end of the show she's whiney and does the usual girl shit of
>MUH DRUGS MAKE ME DIS WAU :~~*(
Diane faces multiple times in the show where she realizes shes kind of an asshat who either doesnt really help anything or cant help

It literally explains that he's only happy because everything goes his way and he isn't afraid to share it with the world.
What Diane did to him broke my heart, and I hate that cow that literally went to get Buffalo Black'd.

Normal words but a cat woman
>"Normal words but a cat woman"

literally the only character i didn't hate, fitting she's the only one who had a happy ending
As someone who ended up hating show in retrospect, she was the better aspect of horse show.
>liked a show but stopped liking it once /teevee/ started making fun of it
Holy cringe
Princess Caroline’s only flaw is that she wasted her whole life and talents enabling idiots like Bojak.
P.C. is the only character that is a genuinely good person. Er. Cat.
>Er. Cat.
holy fricking reddit.
stole my heart by I dropped her instantly when she went babycrazy. inside my heart's brain I gave her a big cat HISSSS and she was dead to me
Kek I like how they did the Maus crossover with the rat bf but it failed cause behind closed doors they were still bigoted of cats and saw no problem with it.
I googled that exact prompt yesterday because of a discussion we were having here and he came up. Get out of my head.
