ITT “stupid takes about comics and cartoons”
I’ll start
>serialized good Episodic bad
>90s Spider-Man had a horrendous amount of censorship!
>80s cartoons were just toy commercials! Not the 90s and 00s tho they’re special!
>comics are dying solely because of woke stuff
>DC and marvel are solely to blame for lack of diversity in comic genres, the consumers and non consumers don’t share any of this.
>the late 00s were a mini dark age!

    >>the late 00s were a mini dark age!

Can you explain what you're trying to say with this? I would say the mid-2000s represented a "dark age" in terms of mainstream comic content and approach: a misguided attempt to bring "realism" that just made the books ugly and cruel, with Identity Crisis in 2004 being the absolute nadir.

By the late 2000s the last of the classic nick toons and other 90s/early 00s shows were finished besides those that had gone to shit. CN tried to briefly experiment with live action stuff. Also milenials had either grown up or were now too old for cartoons so for a good decade until zoomers grew up the narrative was that the late 2000s were a bleak period until adventure time and Steven universe saved us

    >>DC and marvel are solely to blame for lack of diversity in comic genres, the consumers and non consumers don’t share any of this.

Isn't the common complaint that the Big Two choose to cater to a shrinking base of hardcore fans who get angry at any attempts at change? I don't think I've ever seen anyone say it's from the top down.

Cinemaphile has a number of turbo autists blaming the companies or the CCA for the big two's output being almost entirely superheroes, rather than accepting the reality that the big two focused on what sells best for them, what their audience wants.

That said, the hardcore fans have been getting angry at most of the changes made to characters over the last 12-15 years, but Marvel and DC know it would be PR suicide to ever roll any of those changes back. So why even do it in the first place? Is that brief moment of media attention really worth it?

. I'd actually say the late-2000s were an attempt to turn away from all that.

        "Civil War" is a 2006–07
"One More Day" is a four-part 2007 comic book crossover storyline
"Brand New Day" is a comic book storyline in The Amazing Spider-Man, published by Marvel Comics beginning in 2008.
        Bendis is always there

You're right about BND, sorry, missed that. But that's consistent with the thesis: BND was supposed to be the fresh start that salvaged the mess made by OMD. The late 2000s were all about a return to form and moving away from the darkness and cruelty of the mid-2000s.

This is true though. Nothing from the 90s or 00s approached the level of Transformers or TMNT in terms of toy shilling.

        yeah I agree, it's a correct take.

it should not be labeled a "stupid take"

Except for Transformers and Ninja Turtles, and Ben 10, and damn near every imported japanime Pokemon, Digimon, Beyblade etc, in fact the only reason shit like Stormhawks, Cubix, generator rex or the countless other lesser action shows never went full toy commercials was only because they never caught on in the first place.

    All weebs opinion
    >Japan is better at animation
    Why?
    >Because the animation is better
Japan is style and not substance in the fact the animation itself is very subpar, it uses many shortcuts like after effects and is very limited in animation and movement
    >Because of the variety
Moe and Shonen are the only two real genres
    >B-because of the writing
The writing, much like Japan's other media output, is considered very substandard and repetitive. There isn't an all-time great with writing compared with the west because it isn't on the same level
    >B-b-because it's not woke frick u mutt
Japan is not only brown in color but are easily the first to overwhelmingly have lgbt characters starting back in the 1980s and have been insanely frequent ever since

      >Moe and Shonen are the only two real genres
There's probably more comedy anime than there is either of those two combined.

      Moe and shonen aren't genres.
