You do realize that just because something falls under the genre of "fantasy" does not mean its an anything goes type of setting....right?

      Specifically, Medieval Fantasy.
There are certain themes that must be adhered to otherwise it would just be random nonsense.

        this
but also just because it's not impossible or unrealistic or anything doesn't mean i'm supposed to tolerate it
i hate sci-fi fantasy where all the aliens are just colorful people with no alien features. sure, it's 'just fantasy' so it's not like this is impossible, but i dislike it is all

Its a medieval european world, there shouldnt be cringe idol shit or depressed japanese businessmen.

Because its always cringe shit like Idol/jpop forced into the story and depressed salary men or the characters treating japanese food like mana from heaven even though its mid af irl.

Imagine an episode of Game of Thrones.
Everything goes as normal but out of nowhere Arya Stark and Daenyrs Targarean go off on a twerk contest with modern POP/RAP music blaring in the background and all the peasants are getting crunk.

There was supposed to be a line in the ending where Belle asks him if he can grow a beard, I really think that would have addressed many people's concerns. Here's Glen Keane talking about it.

        The whole thing: https://whysoblu.com/beauty-and-beast-glen-keane-interview/

This interview was from 2010, it's interesting that they actually did have the line in the 2017 remake.

Bullshit, the olympic games book is the second one where he is sole writer (although it can be argued it's just from that point onwards they start crediting the whole studio's work to Peyo) and it's nothing medieval

    >Character is established
    >Revealed later that they were faking their personality and backstory.
Thomas from regular is the best example of this horrible idea. Taking a likeable character and making them completely different is even worse than killing them because they can't go back to the way they were

      Anonymous

Thomas was so fricking bland and forgettable I think it's better that way honestly.

      Anonymous

Who the frick liked Thomas before his reveal? He was so milquetoast in attitude that there wasn't anything to like OR hate about him. His best episode pre-reveal was probably the brainfreeze one, and he was hardly even prevalent as a character in it. Making him a double agent was at least interesting and proved to be a nice way to bookend his arc and tastefully remove someone from the cast who didn't add anything to the Park dynamic.

Also what was the deal with Smurfette wearing high heels in a medieval world?
I know they wanted to feminize her design compared to the male Smurfs.
Couldn’t they make her barefoot or remove the heel?

I love TOH but the Penstagram stuff was god awful. It's really obvious what parts of the worldbuilding they actually cared about versus the stuff they had to make work for jokes

There's a scene where Gus suggests disguising as women to distract a guard and Willow says
      >This is a cartoon from the 40s, Gus!
even though she's a witch from another world who doesn't know what cartoons are, much less naming them by decade and with reference to cliches

Also, their idea for phones is just...birds. How magical.

    >Character is literally killed, but with pure willpower or belief in their friends they return stronger than ever.
I am not talking about something like Goku watching Krillin die and then turning Super Saiyan because his friend was killed.
I mean the character has been mortally wounded, literally on the verge of death, and in their dying breath they have an epiphany about what's really important in life and they resurrect fully healed with enough power to beat the villain that beat them.
Like, no, you were beaten and seconds from death, there's no coming back from that.
