See this one really gets me, and modern writers have unfortunately fallen into this trap. Nowadays all we get is "Maskless Batman" when Bruce is being written. While I acknowledge Bruce will play up his billionaire party boy persona just for appearances, its not all a farce. Bruce Wayne is a philanthropist that runs numerous charity events and campaigns with city hall because he knows his civilian persona has value to make a difference.

That's another big issue. What happened there is after Gwen died writers basically martyred her, afraid to say anything negative about the girl. This has some truth though. Batman Beyond has Bruce stating he knew he wasn't going crazy because the voices he was hearing were calling him Bruce--and that's not what he calls himself in his mind. Bruce has also said it in the comics during the "Bruce Waybe Murderer?" And "Fugitive" run but I can't remember how that panned out.
Of course a few other runs, including Zdarsky's current run, establish the opposite; that Bruce Wayne the man (not the billionaire persona) IS Batman and that Batman doesn't exist without him

All his humanity and morals he got from his parents are all still him very much.
She is a significant part of Peter’s mythos. The sliding timeline began AFTER she died, so we will never be far away from her death being recent history. That shit happened like 5 years ago for Pete.
