The show takes place in the early 2000s
Why?
Set in X-Men Evolution universe.
And Emma Frost is a major character
Is she into Peter like she was in Marvel Adventures?
Yes
>that little angry jean
CUTE
Yeah, this happens
It'll make the show stand out as "the one where Peter gets with Emma Frost and it's kino"
Okay, but Nova shows up in season 3 or 4 in a minor role, alluded to being the next kid hero as Peter ages up and then gets his sloppy seconds with Emma.
So Nova gets Peter's sloppy seconds? But why?
Might go against the "no stupid relationship drama" tbh
Sounds good. More Spidey media should use Chat tbh
No drama if the love triangle mentioned
just ends amicably with Peter and Chat. Then Rich just happens to also be a swell guy and so Emma can just slide over onto him. Literally drama free.
Please just let my guy get my waifu ONCE, please
Fine, you can have her. But we’re giving some of MJ’s traits to Chat just so that we can adapt some storylines properly
Nothing extreme or negative, just red hair and some of the outfits
You can just loosely adapt those storylines, dude. It doesn’t need to be 1:1.
How about a love triangle with Chat in the mix? Chat’s the good girl Betty while Emma’s the bad girl Veronica.
There is no Miles. Not now, not ever. It's in the show's contract.
But Paul is still smashing MJ.
There's no stupid relationship drama, i.e., no overdone love triangle bullshit, no lame falling outs or bizarre break-ups, no selling a relationship to the devil to save Aunt May, no Paul
Gwen DIES
>Gwen DIES
>after becoming Harry's stepmother and having Norman's Goblin Babies
No multiverse shit either
In episode 1, Paul smashes MJ...
In the legs, with a cartoon hammer. Thus begins the wheelchair arc.
Paul in this show is just a menace to society. He goes around at night with a hammer and attacks random people
was this cancelled or what?
Disney has been silently cancelling a lot.
Black cat has fat breasts and Silver Sable wants to /ss/ Spidey
Peter looks Ditko-inspired like the recent cartoon planned by Disney. Wears glasses. Primary colors (blue, white, yellow, red). Even wears a tie.
However, unlike that planned cartoon, his supporting cast is exactly like the comics. No gender swaps. No race swaps. MJ, Harry, Flash, Randy, Gwen, Liz, Aunt May, Jameson, and so on.
Also Squirrel Girl for funsies and because she’s a fellow Ditko creation through collaboration
Maybe she’s changed to be the victim of an Oscorp experiment
>Maybe she’s changed to be the victim of an Oscorp experiment
So basically what TASM and its game tie-in were doing with the whole cross-species storyline. Funny how they stress how Peter was legit half-spider but still gave him mechanical web shooters anyway. Organic webs would’ve made more sense in that universe.
Peter getd bitten by the spider while attending a Klan rally with Uncle Ben.
They were attending to kill them, because Uncle Ben is a veteran who’s tired of not being allowed to kill without remorse
>Uncle Ben is a psychopathic killer who feels that ridding the world of undesirables is his "responsibility"
>he shares this with young Peter
Midway through season 3, Peter gets an internship at the Baxter Building and befriends Johnny.
The F4 are lame, no.
You don’t understand. Ben Grimm becomes Peter’s new uncle Ben (metaphorically)
You can have the Thing without the F4. He’s better off without them.
And we're better off without you
The F4 are great and you are gay.
You're lame
Piss off, the FF are fantastic
The F4 is old hat. They’re outdated and don’t work anymore without altering them heavily. Ben is the only good character among them.
Why not do the armored adventures thing and make Reed a college professor
Then Peter can suck upon his knowledge giving stretchnees
What would be the point? Might as well use Connors or Ock instead.
Say that again
>t. secondary
The F4 aren’t necessary for the Spider-Brand. You can get by with just Harry and Flash.
Sure, but it's not like having them actually detracts from it unless you're one of those gays who thinks Spider-Man should exist in his own universe. He's part of the family.
That’s the comics. This thread is about a hypothetical adaptation. There’s no need to be so 1:1 to the source. Also, making it a Spidey-only universe ensures the focus is on him and keeps stakes where they need to be so viewers won’t ask where the Avengers or F4 are at. They don’t exist and it’s just Spidey who has to be the hero.
>They don’t exist and it’s just Spidey who has to be the hero
Other heroes existing is irrelevant to Spider-Man's pathos. The FF don't have to be main cast, but having them (or at least Johnny) around for a few episodes presents a dynamic we haven't seen very often (if at all) in the adaptions
Peter and Johnny used to butt heads but eventually became the best of friends. Peter and Flash used to butt heads but eventually became the best of friends. See? It ain’t needed. Just because it was in the comics, doesn’t mean it has to be included. This is why it’s an issue if fanboys are involved in these projects. They tend to be obsessed with wanting to put EVERYTHING in at the cost of the story, setting AND pacing. The best way to do it is to have an impartial view on the source and from there, decide which elements will work and which will not. You can’t have everything.
Flash and Johnny aren't comparable in that way, at all. By that logic you don't need Harry either because he too used to butt heads with Peter before coming friends.
The nature of Peter and Johnny's rivalry was completely different as well, nine times out of ten it was Peter starting shit with him and not the other way around.
This is what happens when you let secondaries decide the best course for a franchise they know next to nothing about. Misinformation is treated like fact and because no one knows any better, characters are ruined
I never said they were 1:1. Just that they both fulfilled the role of “rival turned friend”. Again, Peter and Johnny’s relationship isn’t all that important in the grand scheme of things, not in accordance to all the other happenings with Spidey’s story.
The FF were some of Peter's first friends as Spider-Man, that's pretty important. Anything can be deemed unimportant if you personally don't care about it
They became unimportant when later elements became much more iconic parts of the Spidey mythos.
Seems like a really arbitrary way to define "importance", and an even worse way to define what should and should not be included in a show. Who gives a shit about some arbitrary measure of iconography when what matters is what makes for interesting dynamics between characters.
Are you gonna sit there and tell me that they should do Miles and not the FF because he's a more iconic part of the Spidey mythos?
You can have interesting dynamics but not at the expense of the story. This is a show of which has limited time per season/episode. You can only do so much. Therefore, you need to be wise in how you spend that limited time and make the call to keep or discard whatever elements from the source. Whatever works for the story that is being told.
You could do what the comic did then
>After getting his powers and swearing to use them for good, Peter realises he does still needs money and wants to try and make money by being a hero
>Approaches the FF, they say no, he leaves in a huff
>Can be done as the opening to an episode, where the rest is dedicated to Peter getting on his feet now as a hero
>Also sets up the FF as characters that can be used in later seasons as needed
Easy done
Big issues are 1.Rights, Rights are a pain in the ass. Who owns what is moronic and then there's synergy and what not that forces a board of execs to say "Do we want to propel a franchise we don't make money off of in this sector" 2.Plot and continuity, when you introduce the Fantastic Four as sidecharacters then they have to factor in, it starts becoming a question of "why aren't they involved?" and if the answer sounds more interesting than the current plot we start asking "why aren't we watching that show?" Comics don't have that issue because you can actually read those comics. Saying "The Fantastic Four can't help you with Sandman taking over downtown because they're fighting Pocket Dimension Bug Hitler" is less of a frick you when you can go and read that adventure. Their importance is impacted by the fact they can't be utilized in a way that made them important and organic to Spider-man in the first place.
> Rights are a pain in the ass. Who owns what is moronic
Disney owns the rights to make TV shows based on both, next
>why aren't they involved?
"Oh, they're out of town" wow that's so hard. No, you don't have to elaborate any further than that.
>Their importance is impacted by the fact they can't be utilized in a way that made them important and organic to Spider-man in the first place.
They're his super hero peers. How is that not organic?
Why do you keep inventing budget and time constraints for this? This is a hypothetical scenario, you can just say you don't like the FF, just like we can say you have shit taste. You don't need to jump through these imaginary hoops to justify why you don't want Spidey and the FF to interact
Slow down there buddy, I answered most your complaints.
>How is that not organic
Because them being his peers was supported by them having their own ass adventures and stories. Reducing them to supporting characters in a show that can't devote that much time to them just misses out on what really makes their relationship fun. Focusing on elements more central to Spidey himself is just simpler and doesn't run into any real issues that might arise from using the FF
Spidey picked a fight with the F4 to showcase his abilities. Even after AF#15, he wasn’t planning on using his powers to help people. He still tried to profit off of them to help May pay the bills. You’re making him look better than he did in the original story.
Yeah. Leaning more into "Peter was quite a prick" could bring in some interesting dynamic, not to mention how funny it would be to see people complain about how that "doesn't follow canon".
Although I would've likely tried to sit on both chairs (try to show him as more dickish, but also being typically nice) and fail miserable.
>This is why it’s an issue if fanboys are involved in these projects. They tend to be obsessed with wanting to put EVERYTHING in at the cost of the story, setting AND pacing.
When is this ever the case? The FF are always absent in the adaptations. Which is probably why you think they're lame.
They were present for the Secret Wars crossover for Spidey 94.
You can’t waste time like that. You ain’t getting 24 episodes. They don’t do that anymore now that animation is more expensive than ever. At most, you’ll get 13 so you can’t waste time for using on the other heroes and their bullshit. Keep it focused on Spidey and his core cast to get the most of it.
A Spider-Man/Human Torch team-up is never a waste. But besides that, no one is saying you have to do it immediately. If anything the real waste is having the whole thing be set during high school as it inevitably would be.
I’d prefer it set during college with Mr. Fantastic as one of Peter’s professors along with Connors and Greg
Nah he doesn't need to be that involved in Peter's life, that kind of stuff feels too similar to Ultimate and the 2017 show and they sucked. The FF can be set dressing with maybe one episode where Spidey teams up with them
Personally I think that there should be only a few heroes in this universe
The F4 as scientists and Peter’s closest friends
The X-Men as a secret group that Spidey ultimately declined joining
Captain America as a popsicle
The Punisher Jessica Jones, and Daredevil as foils
And Carol Danvers… as a U.S. agent, Peter’s friend and Jessica’s love interest
I like it as pete getting an internship at the Baxter building as a season long arc
If you’re gonna be faithful to Ditko, then only the first season would be HS. Maybe the first two if you wanna spend more time in it. Contrary to popular belief, Peter was 17 during Ditko. Him being 15 was a retcon done to keep him young. The entirety of Ditko was essentially Spider-Man: Year One.
Also, the 24 episode thing was done to meet the required amount for the syndication package much quicker. The amount being 64. That isn’t necessary anymore therefore 8-13 is all you’re getting.
Personally I think it should be like this
Spider-Man and the F4 are the only public heroes
X-Men are like in X-Men evolution and thus secret
Hulk is an urban legend
Iron Man doesn’t show up until way later
Captain Marvel doesn’t show up until later but she is very inexperienced so the F4 ask Spider-Man to help train her
No. Shared universes are cancer and ultimately only serve to break the setting. The Spidey mythos has enough elements to function in its own universe. Same deal with Batman. Less is ALWAYS more.
Hence why the original post specified "midway through season 3."
There's already a bajillion Spidey adaptations that are Spidey in a vacuum. In this hypothetical one we can buck that trend. so kindly piss off.
I think we can reverse the MCU method
The MCU changed Spider-Man to fit the other heroes
We change the others to fit Spider-Man
During the internship at the Baxter Building, Peter had a traumatic experience in the Negative Zone after an encounter with Annihilus that he refuses to recount.
The main love interest is Elsa
Sun Spider/Charlotte Webber (the gay crippled Spider-Man) appears but instead of getting powers she’s just a fan of Spider-Man with a spider sona
She and Flash Thompson become best friends with a dynamic similar to Henchmen 21 and 24 but with a nerd and jock twist
>Sun Spider/Charlotte Webber (the gay crippled Spider-Man) appears but instead of getting powers she’s just a fan of Spider-Man with a spider sona
So long as she doesn't get powers.
In fact, NO OTHER SPIDER-PEOPLE AT ALL in this show. Peter Parker is the one and only.
Silk is present, however she does not possess any powers except a spider sense and she isn’t a hero. She’s simply a classmate with an uncanny ability to predict disasters. Allowing Peter to have an earlier warning system for big events
In fact it is emphasized in this show that while peter inspires others and some others have similar powers to him. Only Peter Parker has the exact combination that makes him Spider-Man
>She’s simply a classmate with an uncanny ability to predict disasters. Allowing Peter to have an earlier warning system for big events
Or you can just give that to Peter instead of wasting time with this whole other character. Less is more, dude.
Only other spider is Ben Riley but he dies causing Peter to into his dark phase.
But then how are they gonna adapt the clone saga?
You don’t.
> She and Flash Thompson become best friends with a dynamic similar to Henchmen 21 and 24 but with a nerd and jock twist
No, whenever a villain shows up they heckle them like pic related
Man, just wait till they bond after he goes to Afghanistan or wherever. Also, her name is Charlotte Webber? Fricking really? Does editorial not do anything these days?
>Does editorial not do anything these days?
You really have to ask?
She was an OC who won a contest to join the comics.
That’s why she and Flash work well together. Both are big Spider-Man fans, kind of buttholes, and have similar taste in women
And walking ability.
>She and Flash Thompson become best friends with a dynamic similar to Henchmen 21 and 24 but with a nerd and jock twist
That'd be great. The cripple buddies
Even before Flash loses his legs, it’s still a pretty fun snarky dynamic
Man that was not a good choice of color for the jacket. Combined with how tight it is and her nipples obviously hard she straight up looks like she’s topless.
Stop trying to make this character work. She sucks. Let Flash be friends with Peter and Harry as God intended
I love this idea. But only if Flash makes her question her sexuality
Flash makes everyone question their sexuality.
It’s a core trait like Spider-Man getting women.
Also I kind of like the idea of seeing what alt Spider-People are like in worlds were they don’t have powers. Take out the spider and show me the person
but her true love is Doc Ock
Actually her OTP is White Rabbit. But only because of a gag where she’s captured by White Rabbit and doesn’t want Spider-Man to rescue her
Is that MJ? It's a funny thought to make a ginger dye her hair blue.
No, it's a random bawd from Runaways.
Is that seriously what modern Niko looks like? What happened to the Suicide Girl look?
Leinil Yu is a man of taste. All his Spiderman has fantastic ass.
Dunno.
Damn right
>Is that seriously what modern Niko looks like? What happened to the Suicide Girl look?
It's what the animated version of her looks like.
The second season got cancelled. When this thing finally comes out it'll be like 8 years since Homecoming and this is an AU so there's no real stakes anyway.
>The second season got cancelled.
Wait, since when? What's the source?
Like a year ago.
https://thedirect.com/article/mcu-disney-plus-shows-cancelled-marvel-cutbacks
It's not a direct "It's cancelled", but there's tweets from people who worked on season one who imply they aren't coming back
https://twitter.com/hackedmotionart/status/1587999532268199936
https://twitter.com/38___sr/status/1587985887157047296
There's been talks that Sophomore Year/season two would have "a new creative team"- but that's basically coded talk, if they let go of the crew after the first season was made it's effectively cancelled.
>there's tweets from people who worked on season one who imply they aren't coming back
Oh, I read that. People working on the project not coming back doesn't equal to it being cancelled though.
>if they let go of the crew after the first season was made it's effectively cancelled.
Not necessarily. Two seasons might be all this cartoon will getd best (I assumed that their best case scenario was to go for fourth with 2-4 each being a Home film in that timeline), but nothing points to it being cancelled until there's a proper proof of that.
There's already enough leakers around MCU stuff that pretty much make up their own nonsense, so I think it's best to not fall to their level and remain skeptical.
>Oh, I read that. People working on the project not coming back doesn't equal to it being cancelled though.
When that leaked it was two years before the show was even going to come out. Completely replacing a team isn't unheard of(that 90's Johnny Quest cartoon had two different teams) , but at this point to get another season out would take 2+ years and it's more likely they'll just retool a season 2 into a new show if they even have the semblance of putting together a team for it.
Didn't Freshmen Year get cancelled?
I half hope it did, because it looked a bit wank and I disliked the utter abandonment of the classic Spidey cast for no reason
>I disliked the utter abandonment of the classic Spidey cast for no reason
When was the last time we actually got the classic Spidey cast in any real sense
I honestly can't remember. Must be either the 2017 cartoon or Ultimate Spider-Man before that
I didn't watch much of the 2017 cartoon (literally like the first two episodes because it was shit) but Peter immediately got put into a smart boy school instead of being at Midtown High so I doubt they did much.
I think MJ was a thing in that show, Gwen existed solely to become Spider-Gwen, and likewise Harry also existed for angst with Norman and possibly also becoming a goblin?? Don't think any of the Bugle cast were there though. The games are guilty of this too
Spectacular Spider-Man.
>Didn't Freshmen Year get cancelled?
No.
>I disliked the utter abandonment of the classic Spidey cast for no reason
Not exactly related, but I'm actually kind of excited by the possibility of MCU's Spidey missing out on expected supporting cast due to combination of "it was already done before" and Sony hoarding stuff for their MCU corner (with relates to antagonists too, even more so).
Obviously that potential would most definitely be wasted, but anon can dream.
How about a "Tales of Ba Sing Se"-like episode? Basically, a compilation of civil stories for Peter and supporting cast with moments like Norman being a normal dad for once. Had an idea for latter myself.
>Also, making it a Spidey-only universe ensures the focus is on him and keeps stakes where they need to be so viewers won’t ask where the Avengers or F4 are at.
Another part of my own trash fan-adaptation: make it part of larger Marvel universe, but Spidey doesn't wanna have anything to do with Avengers because its current iteration morons with bad reputation. Meanwhile F4 are retired and don't really matter by this point in time. You can use one episode to provide a greater context of the universe and why Spider-Man doesn't have substantial collaborations.
>You can’t waste time like that.
You can't just write a Spider-Man show either, so let anons have fun instead of breating at their neck like a Marvel producer.
Peter is captured by Black Cat and MJ and Gwen and he must prove his love for each one with a simples challenge.
They'll take turns riding him, if he nuts, it means he doesnt love the others.
It happens that Peter is a strong man, and nuts in no one, this makes the trio enraged, saddened and confused.
Peter must then try to escape their wrath as they prepare the next round.
His phone is in the other corner of the room and his hands are firmly tied, but alas, the Vulture calls him to ask if he's cool to see the new Riddley Scott kino.
Can Peter awnser the phone in time?
Luckily Peter is rescued from this situation by his one true friend and the second Spider-Man Richard Nixon
>alternate world similar to the Sony Spider-Man games except
>Richard Nixon is Spider-Man instead of Peter Parker
>Barack Obama is Spider-Man instead of Miles Morales
>George Costanza is Doctor Octopus
>Cosmo Kramer is Kraven the Hunter (or rather Kramer the Hunter)
>Bob Sacamano is Chameleon
Have his ass be animated well
There is an episode where Spider-Man travels to a world where it's similar to the Playstation Spider-Man, except Richard Nixon became the first Spider-Man and Barack Obama became the second Spider-Man and George Costanza was Richard Nixon's mentor and became Doctor Octopus
it's all on Peter and Felicia's shoulders though
Doctor Octopus has his own research division and isn't tied to Oscorp in any way.
I want an episode where we follow Peter before getting his powers. I always imagine him being kind of a prick pre spider bite.
Who's the chick with the blue hair?
Other Avengers don't like him.
No, Jan doesn't like him, and he used to butt heads with Iron Man a bit too.
But Captain America and Thor both like him a lot
Jan used to not like him during the 60s, they're more amicable toward each other after that, and when writers actually remember to read past the Silver Age.
Nadia arbitrarily hating Peter but liking Miles was so fricking moronic
Uncle Ben isn't married he's a bachelor. When he died, Peter become homeless
Dorks and goths are cute together.
Pic related would be the opening scene to set the tone of Peter’s character for the series. No more awkward dork. This is a different Spidey.
The season finale would have a callback to this where Peter would fight the Sinister Six, bringing the season full circle.
Seeing as most people are ignoring the prompt, I'm just gonna post my ideas for a Spider-Man series
Spider-Man: Roll Call
>The stories of Peter life as the newest scient teacher of Midtown High
>Peter isn’t the only one whose taken up the life as a teacher
>Much of Peter’s side character are now teachers as well
>Peter spends much of the show trying to balance his job with teaching while also instilling valuable lessons to the young heroes who happen to attend the school
>Also Fury is the principle and everyone thinks he’s undercover but he actually just trying to retire
Spider-Man: Bold New World
>Despite its name it's not really a "Spider-Man" series
>More a general team up series where Peter teams up with a variety of other heroes each episode
>Most prominently Peter teams up with the Fantastic 4, X-Men and Doctor Stranger
>Spider-Man Villains still appear but they're teamed up with non-Spider-Man villains
>Mysterio learning actual magic, Electro joins the Brotherhood of Mutants, Otto teams up with Doom, ect.
>Peter also has a lover interest from each major group instead of his traditional ones
>Spider-Man: Bold New World
> Literally "Batman: The Brave and The Bold", but with Spider-man
Actually, they had "Spider-man and the Marvel Knights" for that, but, sounds a good idea.
It's funny that Chat is fondly remembered for everyone who red Marvel Adventures.
I'm kinda glad Marvel doesn't remember her, or they could make her mainstream and totally ruin the character.
What previous thread?
Spider-man is a hobo who was bitten by a radioactive, crack-addicted spider, and now uses his new found powers and a shotgun to deal out justice to the criminals infesting new york, as well as to steal home appliances so he can disassemble and then reassemble them.
Spider-Man is actually a mutant, and the spider bite was a coincidence that he assumes is the source of his very non-spider powers.
Spider-Man is autistic and is unreasonably upset by the fact that the spider bite didn't give him organic webbing as well, so he periodically tries to give himself organic webbing but fricks up and gives himself other spider traits, like multiple limbs, or mandibles. Everything always goes back to normal in the next episode.
Chat is his GF and soulmate.
I remember one anon suggested that she could use her power to telepathically communicate with Peter due to him being part-spider. Sort of like a “guy in the chair” type of deal.
Make Spidey cool again. None of this awkward dork shit. Give him his edge back. The dude’s a bad tempered prick who not only has to learn how to be a good hero, but has to learn how to be a better man. To truly become the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. He’d start out with the Ross suit, but end with a final swing around the city in his Romita suit, signaling that his journey to becoming the friendly neighborhood hero is over.
Yeah the whole "adorkable" bullshit is what has ruined Spider-man and why Holland's is the worst on-screen spidey yet. Peter should never fully shed his mean streak; instead he just channels it into bullying his rogues which is why they want to fricking kill him so much.
Dude was a dick to everybody.
Incel peter?
Self inserting incels should be hanged.
He never was. Pic related’s from ASM#8.
I swear you've posted this crappy fanfic idea of
>Spidey starts off a c**t in a red and black suit and only wears the classic suit at the end of the story because I think he should be cool and crude like le heckin Raphael
in most Spider-Man threads over the past several months. I keep seeing this and you never change it up or make it more interesting..
Spidey canonically wore a red and black suit when he first started. And yes, he was “cool and crude” in the main series. Too many people think he was always this awkward dork because they either just watched the movies or read AF#15 only and nothing of the main series.
An army of Gwen clones try to bang him
