The problem SoJ likes to sabotage their partners. They screwed over the Eternal Champions by denying them a Saturn sequel for fear of the series taking away Virtua Fighter's attention. However Virtua Fighter paid the price for not having any new games since 5 that isn't a rerelase/update.

They won't even use characters from Sonic X or the OVA, Sally won't be getting any special treatment.

It was the same with the preboot, though it honestly could depend on the artist. That and some character designs were just clones like Sonic's parents (at first) and Alicia who was just Sally.

If it weren't for Archie Sonic comics being such an absolute meme with rewarding moments (especially later on), I would've dropped these comics and never look back.

There are insane flaws with these comics that make me physically cringe but what keeps me loving this continuity is the lore, world-building, and the better written moments for the characters. Ian Flynn is not the greatest writer out there (he has his bad writing moments too) but wow he really did lift things out of the swamp when he was given the wheel.

And to continue, even the older issues had some nice gems.

And crazy as it sounds, I really happened to like what Penders was doing with the Echidnas until it became too autistic later on.

World-building is probably the biggest strength of these comics and we will likely never see this level of worldbuilding ever again considering how Sega is very careful and lock-tight about it now.

If it just weren't for Penders and Bollers tarding out with their cuck fetishes, these comics wouldn't have such a bad rep. That's literally THE ISSUE.

A lot of their shitty decisions were usually related to how Sonic's and Sally's dating life should be like. Well, in Pender's case, it was also ECHIDNA THIS ECHNIDNA THAT.

Imagine ending Amazing Spider-Man at the climax of OMD, or the beginning of Superior Spider-Man or the middle of Paul giving Peter the worse cuckening of his life...

That is what FreedomFighter fans feel.

It doesn't matter if they are major characters, helpers, jobbers or background hobos, having them show up again would just provided much needed closure.

This. And it's crazy because soon the IDW series is going to end because the company is about to go under. We won't even get any closure on that.

What's Sega gonna do, give some other company the torch only for the next comic universe to be even more underwhelming than the last? 100% yes.

Unless they get their heads out of their asses, Sonic has no future with comics.

Hell, I'm not even asking them to inject the Freedom Fighters into the main canon, just make a new alternate continuity for fans to enjoy, is that too much to ask for even though they've done this before on multiple occasions? I guess so...

I just want a full story that will actually end naturally. And I want the Freedom Fighters to get the ending that they were abruptly denied.

Yes, the Archie Sonic comics had an official, planned ending in the works that would have happened somewhere done the line. A final showdown. We were robbed, thanks to Penders.

They're not going to create an entire continuity to appease a small sect of fans in one country. Most of the world isn't even familiar with the Freedom Fighters since they're mainly an American thing. It's a bad business move.

            Kinda fair point but...

            >Small sect of fans in one country

These comics are no longer a purely North American thing, Sonic fans worldwide are well aware of these comics.

And what country does Sega cater to the most? Literally the United States. Americans have been their main target audience since Sega literally started off. So no, it's not really a fair point, nevermind.

With that said, I ain't proposing this simply just to appease a certain part of the fan base, I just want a decent comic series to be made.

IDW has its good moments, but overall it just feels underwhelming compared to Archie.

You are aware that a grand majority of these same fans in North America (both old and especially new) prefer what the Japanese have written, right? The comics were always a niche thing (even with Sega being more involved, IDW is still niche to be frank) and it's not a surprise given how this is mainly a game franchise.

The Freedom Fighters are still very relevant among Sonic fans, and a lot of thosefans are definitely younger than 30 as well but go off

Compared to the game characters, it's not hard to see which characters are actually relevant in the minds of the mass. Even then, certain character fans get starved anyway. To Sega, all material in the 90's (that includes the OVA and the Nikki manga) have been shelved with Archie being a special exception until they got the chance to can it.

The reasons Archie Sonic lasted longer than most video game comics, especially during the '90s was because of SatAM's cliffhanger finale and only 3 game for the Saturn. Kids grabbed the comics like it was their last because comics based on video games have short lifespans. The average V.G. comic would only last 6-12 issues.

When Sonic Adventure was announced in '99, Archie was scrambling to update Sonic, Amy, and Robotnik to their current designs

It shouldn't be in theory since they're literally the badniks that appear in game but since they're suppose to be unique characters for AoSTH, that's a no can do. Plus Orbot and Cubot are the designated "funny" bots unfortunately.
