I've been so frustrated with the way Sega treats Sally, that I imagined they would make a character that's the opposite of Sally. Then I remembered Anti-Sally exists.

I like her brother
Dude was genuinely trying to be a good leader, was a much better person than his father.
>much better person than his father.
That is not a high bar to clear
>bottomless
What a slut. He looks like he powerbottoms human men
wew
It's weird seeing Elias with an actual squirrel tail
>Anti-Elias is the one that wears less clothes
As do I.
Sega sucks. Nicer thing they have ever done is ceasing to exist.
If Sonic is going to die as a franchise, Sega should just Ian Flynn the keys to write a new comic series like Archie without the mandates holding him back. Might as well at this point, why the fuck not. I doubt that Ian would fubar it like how Penders ruined the original Archie Sonic comics
Cute redhead.
She's hot, maybe even hotter than Sally Prime
>Sega treats Sally
sally is not a thing retard
"sally" confirmed by sega is just another nickname for amy
why
Amy is written like Sally these days. She was even the leader of her own Freedom Fighters in the comic.
Amyfags hated that which is why she gave up the job as soon as she could.
Huh
>franchise owned by Japan don't care about a westslop characters not made by them who don't fit THEIR brand's image
color me shocked
>Japanese company takes up to 20 yrs to make a game that appeases their countrymen, despite constantly shitting on the one country that kept THEIR brand afloat for much longer
color me shocked
God I hate how Sega just keeps introducing new shit in Sonic instead of developing anything it already has
That will eventually be the franchise's downfall.
It's really not that hard. Just greenlight a multiverse-like scenario, and let the continuities grow. Just don't hire any weirdos like Penders and Bollers and things will be fine.
The problem SoJ likes to sabotage their partners. They screwed over the Eternal Champions by denying them a Saturn sequel for fear of the series taking away Virtua Fighter's attention. However Virtua Fighter paid the price for not having any new games since 5 that isn't a rerelase/update.
I just wonder what their end-game even is. They even handicap their own mascot for crying out loud. Sonic Dream Team for example.
They are so short-sighted about how much more money they could make if they weren’t so autistic. Do they seriously still have PTSD over Ken Penders?
>Sabotage their MK clone to prop up VF, only to watch it become a ghost of old Japanese arcades as Tekken overtakes their spot
>Doesn't provide proper development for the Sega Technical Institute because of petty reasons & they where confident that EA Sports would carry them. Surprise Pika-Face when EA moves to Playstation & suddenly SEGA has no US support.
>Keeps ignoring any legacy IP outside Sonic because their parent company got too comfy relying on Yakuza & arcade machines. Had to shut down a majority of their arcades to make ends meet
>Suddenly, making a good Sonic game sounds pretty fetching now
SEGA's endgame is to survive another day.
SEGASammy's endgame is to use SEGA as a scapegoat to avoid any eyes on their illegal gambling practices.
Correction
>Japanese corporation only cares about their shitslop character's comic when they need to do a video game tie in
Prove me wrong. They never fucking care about these comics until they need to promote the newest Wii-tier gimmick game.
Sally didn't fit the Sonic Team aesthetic. Almost none of them did, pre-Genesis Waves
They were fine, some just needed some different clothes. The reboot was too much like "Sonic according to the internet", pic related.
heh
They won't even use characters from Sonic X or the OVA, Sally won't be getting any special treatment.
It was the same with the preboot, though it honestly could depend on the artist. That and some character designs were just clones like Sonic's parents (at first) and Alicia who was just Sally.
Sega is so anti-continuity it's insane. Even when it comes to their games in some cases.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates that stupid Mega Man template.
>Sally didn't fit the Sonic Team aesthetic.
There are ways to get around that. You just need the right artists
>The reboot was too much like "Sonic according to the internet", pic related.
Well, that is what happens when the majority of Sonic artists congregate around dA - sonic fan artists tend to overdesign their characters in a way to make them look "cooler".
I like it
Sally was shit, good riddance.
Shut the fuck up Boco
I'll never understand Freedom Fighters fags. I mean I get liking them. I get being bummed about how the book went down. But good lord you had more issues in their tie in comic than any other franchise in history. You can't say there hasn't been enough.
Even if they get the same side character treatment as Sticks they deserve to be included in the game continuity
If it weren't for Archie Sonic comics being such an absolute meme with rewarding moments (especially later on), I would've dropped these comics and never look back.
There are insane flaws with these comics that make me physically cringe but what keeps me loving this continuity is the lore, world-building, and the better written moments for the characters. Ian Flynn is not the greatest writer out there (he has his bad writing moments too) but wow he really did lift things out of the swamp when he was given the wheel.
And to continue, even the older issues had some nice gems.
And crazy as it sounds, I really happened to like what Penders was doing with the Echidnas until it became too autistic later on.
World-building is probably the biggest strength of these comics and we will likely never see this level of worldbuilding ever again considering how Sega is very careful and lock-tight about it now.
If it just weren't for Penders and Bollers tarding out with their cuck fetishes, these comics wouldn't have such a bad rep. That's literally THE ISSUE.
A lot of their shitty decisions were usually related to how Sonic's and Sally's dating life should be like. Well, in Pender's case, it was also ECHIDNA THIS ECHNIDNA THAT.
Imagine ending Amazing Spider-Man at the climax of OMD, or the beginning of Superior Spider-Man or the middle of Paul giving Peter the worse cuckening of his life...
Only for Marvel to tell you they're cancelling Amazing Spider-Man & Spidey is moving to another publisher...
only to find Spider-Man just doing high school super hero things with a new set of characters you never heard of..
and it's Miles.
That is what FreedomFighter fans feel.
It doesn't matter if they are major chaarcters, helpers, jobbers or background hobos, having them show up again would just provided much needed closure.
>That is what FreedomFighter fans feel.
It doesn't matter if they are major characters, helpers, jobbers or background hobos, having them show up again would just provided much needed closure.
This. And it's crazy because soon the IDW series is going to end because the company is about to go under. We won't even get any closure on that.
What's Sega gonna do, give some other company the torch only for the next comic universe to be even more underwhelming than the last? 100% yes.
Unless they get their heads out of their asses, Sonic has no future with comics.
Hell, I'm not even asking them to inject the Freedom Fighters into the main canon, just make a new alternate continuity for fans to enjoy, is that too much to ask for even though they've done this before on multiple occasions? I guess so...
I just want a full story that will actually end naturally. And I want the Freedom Fighters to get the ending that they were abruptly denied.
Yes, the Archie Sonic comics had an official, planned ending in the works that would have happened somewhere done the line. A final showdown. We were robbed, thanks to Penders.
They're not going to create an entire continuity to appease a small sect of fans in one country. Most of the world isn't even familiar with the Freedom Fighters since they're mainly an American thing. It's a bad business move.
Kinda fair point but...
>Small sect of fans in one country
These comics are no longer a purely North American thing, Sonic fans worldwide are well aware of these comics.
And what country does Sega cater to the most? Literally the United States. Americans have been their main target audience since Sega literally started off. So no, it's not really a fair point, nevermind.
With that said, I ain't proposing this simply just to appease a certain part of the fan base, I just want a decent comic series to be made.
IDW has its good moments, but overall it just feels underwhelming compared to Archie.
>And what country does Sega cater to the most? Literally the United States.
No, Japan. They RELUCTANTLY give America what it wants, but hate themselves for it.
There is a difference between aware of being fans of them.
>And what country does Sega cater to the most? Literally the United States. Americans have been their main target audience since Sega literally started off. So no, it's not really a fair point, nevermind.
Most Americans don't even care about the Freedom Fighters anymore or even know who they are at this point. Their fans are a subset of fans in their 30s and 40s.
The Freedom Fighters are still very relevant among Sonic fans, and a lot of thosefans are definitely younger than 30 as well but go off
>The Freedom Fighters are still very relevant among Sonic fans
Yes, among their specific fans. They're still alive, you know.
>Their fans are a subset of fans in their 30s and 40s.
Must be their mid-late 30's at the earliest, since those currently in their early 30's or even late 20's were in their diapers when SatAM was airing, and they're more likely to be partial to the games' lore.
There's probably the odd person who watched it online, though.
That I can factor in, especially considering things like reruns, dvds, and that one nostalgic critic video etc.
This
An admission: Reruns of Adventures+Underground's concurrent airing were my introduction to Sonic
My 19 year old friend found those shows through hand me down tapes. AoSTH is also doing good on Netflix from what I can tell. Got my 10 year old sister and her cousins into it.
That sounds neat. A bit ot, but I discovered Mario 3 cartoon through something like that, albeit it was the "prize in a cereal box" sort.
>Their fans are a subset of fans in their 30s and 40s.
Another astrosurfing attempting parrot shit, as if we don't have other boomers enjoying Sonic only from games. Seriously, lay off your mental illness on obsessing so much over internet dudes you will never met.
You are aware that a grand majority of these same fans in North America (both old and especially new) prefer what the Japanese have written, right? The comics were always a niche thing (even with Sega being more involved, IDW is still niche to be frank) and it's not a surprise given how this is mainly a game franchise.
Compared to the game characters, it's not hard to see which characters are actually relevant in the minds of the mass. Even then, certain character fans get starved anyway. To Sega, all material in the 90's (that includes the OVA and the Nikki manga) have been shelved with Archie being a special exception until they got the chance to can it.
The reasons Archie Sonic lasted longer than most video game comics, especially during the '90s was because of SatAM's cliffhanger finale and only 3 game for the Saturn. Kids grabbed the comics like it was their last because comics based on video games have short lifespans. The average V.G. comic would only last 6-12 issues.
When Sonic Adventure was announced in '99, Archie was scrambling to update Sonic, Amy, and Robotnik to their current designs
Oh please, you know how many shows/continuities/whatever never get closure? Hundreds. Just make something up in your head already.
Why should they give a shit about a character they didn't create?
They don’t even give a shit about the characters they did create so it’s all the same
Best girl
On the topic of non-canon stuff, how hard would it be for Sega to bring them into the official canon?
They have uncontested/uncomplicated ownership of them so not very hard. They kinda don't fit Eggman's current image though.
They can just have a short cameo or something, they don't need to be important to the plot
they are literally classic badniks. Of course the SSSS Squad would work for the games.
just make a very tall Clucker and a clumsy Green Grounder (plus a red Kikki) and have them be the next mini-bosses for the next Classic spinoffs
It shouldn't be in theory since they're literally the badniks that appear in game but since they're suppose to be unique characters for AoSTH, that's a no can do. Plus Orbot and Cubot are the designated "funny" bots unfortunately.
Sega still owns them, they even appeared in one of the anniversary comics not too long ago.
As speaking characters or one off cameos that could easily be written off as generic badniks?
Which comic?
From what I understand sega has complete ownership of both AoStH and SaTAM characters. The problem is that sonic team completely detests SaTAM and orbot and cubot already fill the robot lackey role
I don't give a FUCK about Sally.
Bunnie and Antoine were the only worthwhile Freedom Fighters.
Antoine? No. Bunnie however? Yes. I still don't know why Sonic Team never introduced an official half robot/cyborg to the series; the concept is so on the nose even Fleetway had Shortfuse the cybernik. The closest we have to this dynamic in the game is Omega and even then he's no cyborg since the guy was fully created by Eggman.
>Sonic Team never introduced an official half robot/cyborg to the series;
Tails for 5 minutes in Lost World. Also Rusty Rose.
>Tails for 5 minutes in Lost World
Yeah and they obviously wouldn't commit to it because just like in Sonic Colors they hyped it up as a Sonic vs Tails fight that gets resolved in the very same cutscene it was introduced
>Rusty Rose
Definitely close but we both know that once Prime will be over she's not gonna appear ever again. I want Sega to actually commit to the concept instead of chickening out
eh, it's not like Sonic really needs a cyborg character.
Rusty my beloved
She big
Look at Amy high fiving herself
cool
Being ArchieSonic fags is true suffering
>various archie sonic fancomics mogging the fuck out of idw for years
Only problem is that they don't come out with more content faster or at all. I need more Heroes Come Back kino.
This
>MUH [character I don't like] LOOKS TRASH TRASH TRASH AND DOESNT FIT AT ALL
>MUH [character I don't like] IS UNPOPULAR UNPOPULAR FUCKING LITERAL NOBODY NOBODY CARES NOBODY CARES
>MUH [character I don't like] IS IRRELEVANT DEAD IRRELEVANT DEAD DEAD DEAD
These all boil down to literal fallacies, yet they have been parroted for years along in the fanbase, nearly as bad as "Sonic doesn't need friends" or "Sonic doesn't work". Is this literally one or two autists astrosurfing this shit to death? There's no way I'm the only one seeing this incredibly annoying red flag pattern so artificially often.
