Sometimes, you just know that the scenes , their deliveries , the subtle dark humor, all of that merges and tells you that there is more to it. It speaks deep down to you guts, your instinct as a species, all of the things you don't wanna think about.
It's a masterpiece , I'm sorry you didn't see it that way. Let it sink, reflect on the ending, on the things that are said ( people won't commit something they don't want to do, for instance), and maybe someday watch it again.

It was Mamiya's personal killing, and probably symbolic of the violence humanity tries to leave back with the animal kingdom. Mamiya probably hated the monkey for making too much noise so when he got mesmerized himself he murdered it like Takabe does to his wife.

I'm trying to figure out why i can't seem to like it that much. It's good, but It felt like it dragged on a lot more than it needed to be and I thought some parts were contrived like the bus scenes with the MC and his wife. I already predicted what was gonna happen 40 minutes before the ending.
