Would it have been kino?

>Introverted teenager Peter Parker is bitten by a radioactive spider and develops spider-like abilities which he uses to become a television celebrity known as "Spider-Man", until the death of his Uncle Ben at the hands of a criminal he could have stopped drives him to fight crime. Peter also bonds with his popular classmate Mary-Jane Watson, who hides the pain she suffers from her neglectful parents and her abusive boyfriend Nathan "Flash" McCreedy behind an arrogant facade.
>Spider-Man's activities attract the attention of Carlton Strand, a petty crook who developed electromagnetic powers after being caught in the explosion of an experimental generator, and has used his abilities to become a wealthy magnate. Convinced that he is superior to the human race and meant to rule them, Strand attempts to convince Spider-Man to join his army, which also include Mark Boyd, a thug who had his DNA spliced with sand in a failed teleportation experiment, giving him shapeshifting abilities. Once Spider-Man refuses, Strand bribes corrupt telecommunications mogul J. Jonah Jameson to begin a smear campaign against him.
>Strand and Boyd ultimately abduct MJ and take her atop the World Trade Center. Spider-Man rescues her and confronts his enemies, ultimately defeating them both and proving to the people of New York City that he is a hero. MJ finds out his secret identity, and they become a couple, with MJ pursuing a career in medicine while Peter gets a job as a photographer while continuing his crimefighting activities.

The cast
>Leonardo DiCaprio as Peter Parker / Spider-Man.
>Nikki Cox as Mary-Jane Watson.
>Gloria Stuart as Aunt May.
>Lance Henriksen as Carlton Strand / Electro.
>Michael Biehn as Mark Boyd / Sandman.
>Tommy Lee Jones as J. Jonah Jameson.
Biehn as Mark Boyd / Sandman.
Lee Jones as J. Jonah Jameson.
Now THAT'S what I call kino
James Cameron also considered Edward Furlong for the role of Peter Parker / Spider-Man. I think he would have been much more convincing than Leonardo.
hmm
How the frick were they going to do sandman in the 90s?
I dunno but if Cameron pitched it he would have had a plan for how to do it.
>Carlton Strand
>Mark Boyd
I get changing Electro and Sandman's backstory and personality, but why did they feel the need to change their real names? What's wrong with Max Dillon or Flint Marko?
>MJ pursuing a career in medicine
IE she becomes a nurse. Frick.
Uh? You have a kink for nurses?
Random things I know about this:
Cameron said once that he wanted to film the movie in a vertical format, which seldom gets mentioned.
The only person who has every iteration of the script from the Canon days is a producer who subsequently married GOAT porn actress Bobbi Starr. He got them because of litigation over credit that happened, and it’s possible those scripts are hiding in plain sight buried in some publicly available court records. A bunch of Superman screenplays from the 90s leaked that way.

I wonder if someone will track that down
Flash is not an abusive partner.
And Carlton Strand doesn't exist. Also, JJJ would never take bribes from a billionaire.
Eugene Thompson isn't. But Nathan McCreery is.
Would be kino. Not all stories needs to follow 100% the canon. Nerds.
t. consoomer nerd
Comics are dead, dude. Accept it.
Yeah
Sounds kino as frick
Mr. Cameron's work is always worth watching. I suspect that his take on Spider-man would have been very different from anything we've seen in films since 1995, but very entertaining nonetheless. Sad that this film was never made.
No, sounded like spin on Spider-Man by someone embarrassed to make a superhero film. Raimi was the right way to go and the first two are still kino.
It’s a movie first, superhero movie second. Get over it. It’s 90s James Cameron, so it would’ve been fricking amazing.
Well you enjoy your script. I’ll enjoy 4k Blu-ray of movies that got made buddy.
>adaptation is slightly different
>"EMBARRASSED OF THE SOURCE MATERIAL!!!!"
every time
>slightly different
Radically, if you wanna talk about films go to Cinemaphile. Don’t get all shit pissing mad when people on Cinemaphile want something closer to the material. He has organic webs in Sam raimi and I’m not slapping the sides of my head screeching. What matters is the tone was right. Tone of Cameron’s movie was just not right.
what tells you the tone wasn't right
The script tard.
there's more to a movie than a script
It’s a good thing I have his prior work to compare it to. He’s not right for Spider-Man.
>but anon people said same thing about raimi he did horror movies!
But his horror movies had elements of camp and comedy. Nothing James has ever done screams “yeah he could do a good Spider-Man movie”. Quit moving the goal posts because you can’t admit you are wrong.
i moved the goalposts nowhere
>what tells you the tone wasn’t right?
>script
>panics and shifts goal post ah eeerrmm well there is more than the script!
You are a fricking idiot.
mald
Well anyway, going to watch my copy of kino 2002 Spider-Man. Enjoy day dreaming about bad film.
A 90s Spider-Man still would have been fricking terrible.
It would have been nearly 3 hours long but with a combined 20 minutes of actual in costume Spider-Man. The costume would be overly stylized black leather. Majority of the movie would be focusing on the villains, who never have anything like a costume at all in the whole film.
Don’t forget the scene where Peter uses his web shooter while asleep in bed and wakes up covered in white sticky goo as part of the movie using his powers as a metaphor for puberty
Or the scene where he does an erotic dance for MJ before they do it on a roof top
