>Perlman wrote the original story and screenplay for Guardians of the Galaxy, which included many iconic aspects such as Star Lord's tragic backstory and passion for retro music. Gunn ended up rewriting the screenplay, and despite Perlman still needing to be acknowledged as co-writer according to WGA guidelines, Zack Stentz, Perlman's friend and co-writer of the Thor screenplay, detailed the behind-the-scenes Perlman endured to receive credit.
>“Nicole had to knife-fight for her credit on Guardians of the Galaxy. She threw a party when the movie came out called the ‘Frick James Gunn’ party because she had won that very bruising credit arbitration. The thing that I'm still angry about, and I say this as a fan of James Gunn as a director, was that he was selectively leaking stuff to his friends and the fanboy media circles to undermine her credit and bully her into giving up. When Matthew Vaughnn decided to have a temper tantrum over the fact that I got screen credit onX-Men: First Class at least he did it under his own name.”

Is Gunn is going the way of the Whedon?
The victims had to be in their 40s to speak out against Whedon. It's going to be 30+ years before we hear from Gunn's victims.
How did James Gunn get an executive position. I don't understand the progression of that. It's not like he's a once in a lifetime talent.
You don't want to know.
He climbed the hollyweird pedo blackmail trust hierarchy and became a massa.
The rumor before he was hired that they had been turned down countless times because everyone thought it was going to be an impossible job where whoever took it was already set up for failure.
All i know is that Todd Phillips was approached before Gunn to helm it all, and he turned it down. The Hangover guy was a priority over Gunn
>The Hangover guy was a priority over Gunn
Let's be real about it, Gunn is the logical choice, but all Marvel's decisions post IW were fricking baffling to say the least.
Hangover guy made a billion dollar movie for DC. Of course the clueless execs will approach him thinking everything he touches will be worth a billion again
>it was going to be an impossible job where whoever took it was already set up for failure
That is true though.
>It's not like he's a once in a lifetime talent.
what executive is?
Kiss israeli assess, make them look good, and you reach high places, this doesn't prevent from them throwing you under the bus when it's convenient for them tho.
DC needed to get people interested in the brand again and pull itself in a positive direction. They asked every director who had made a recently critically successful DC movie if they wanted to oversee the DC film slate and all of them said no until they asked Gunn. Todd Phillips was asked and I'm pretty sure Matt Reeves and James Wan we're offered the job too.
Probably because no one else wanted to be on this sinking ship and Gunn will probably get a good paycheck out of all of it.
Gunn is a relatively well known figure in the industry, WB/DC are flailing desperately for any hit since they're hemorrhaging money each quarter, and their desperation for Marvel Studios' leftovers between Whedon and Gunn is showcasing that they have no plan.
Honestly, they're not going to do it, but WB should just stop all productions right now, and then come back fresh in about 7-10 years. People are tired of superhero movies because there's been soo many bad ones. It's run it's course. But the money men who have no understanding of this and just think of it as a product to sell don't care. They'll keep making poor decisions until finally, it will be financially impossible to keep DC shows/movies/games/cartoons/etc going.
And to be honest, I think Disney/MCU isn't too far behind.
I suspect we're in for a crash that will make the 90s look like Eden to Marvel/DC (and their parent companies), and they'll only realize where they fricked up decades down the line because they refused to change when they had the chance.
>Honestly, they're not going to do it, but WB should just stop all productions right now, and then come back fresh in about 7-10 year
well, they could always do some non-superhero DC comics.
Swamp Thing is a step in the right direction.
Great track record with dawn of the dead to the scooby doo movies.
Same way Snyder got the man of steel gig
he was the only one who agreed to do it
Thought that was Andy Dick on the left for a moment.
man, the knives are out hard on this homie since he became the head of DC
geoff johns must be fuming hard
The Snydergays used to say that Disney hired people to sabotage DC and honestly I'm starting to believe it
The attacks are consistent across all the different regime changes, anyone involved with DC seems to be attacked
It makes you sound like a schizo to say it but I 100% believe it. They did the same thing with FOX and their X-Men movies.
Yeah it wouldn't surprise me if the screenshots of Gunn's opinion of Batman 1989 came from that
Those came from his own Facebook account that he forgot to delete, same as he does now with his Twitter account. He set the latter to delete automatically every few months because of what happened before.
Though i guess he probably deleted his Facebook account after the whole Batman thing.
The real issue is that this lesbian looking Black person is chronically online posting shit.
It's funny how last year Warner had a PR problem and wasn't issuing statements when they should have been to counter twittershit, so the solution/remedy to that is to apparently put a twittershit in charge
I'm sure it will work out
I know it came from his FB account, but it seemed like odd timing for it to pop up after the Flash movie was released and bombed in theaters (and considering he said he rewrote the ending for)
Yeah, the timing was off. I heard a bunch of "Oh, i guess that's why Michael Keaton died in the movie and stayed dead" at the time because of it.
>The Snydergays used to say that Disney hired people to sabotage DC
It sounds weird, but Disney is not responsible for hiring DC employees.
Shocking isn't it?
you fricking moron
Anti-marketing is a thing, console wars were fought over it. Especially if you rely on your money cow being the sole provider despite heavy competition.
Why do so many of these male feminist or feminist supporting companies do this type of shit?
I was going to make a very big generalization about this chick if she was related to Ron Perlman... which she isn't
>detailed the
>gives no details
Unless she literally had to knife fight for the credit, lol, this isn't even a story
THere are no details because all the writers credit shit is set in guidelines by the WGA. She's just trying to blame Gunn because... who the frick knows.
Because she wrote one of the worst received out of all the Marvel movies and he wrote one of the best received, so he's getting work and she isn't
I like some of his stuff but just from the tweets he got fired over, you could tell he was a ridiculous ass kissing cringelord to deal with, wouldn't surprise me if this take was close to the truth
>past reprehensible thoughts on Twitter and a pedophile-themed party that included a convicted pedophile.
Lol wait I didn't I know about a party, what
Cinemaphile loves their Richard Gere ass gerbil level gossip
>t. didn't read this man's deleted tweets
That plus whatever the flip flopping Gadot thing was about, and other statements he's made, the guy comes off like a tryhard douchebag, and I say this having liked the last GOTG
He stuck all of Joesph Goebbels up his ass?
That was real.
The pedo party was cited in a criminal case because a "teen" was sexually molested in it.
She must suck at knife fighting.
>X-Men: First Class
gay ass movie, the worst example of a superhero movie that proves that everything is wrong with capeshit.
>which included many iconic aspects such as Star Lord's tragic backstory and passion for retro music
The tragic backstory is the same shit every superhero has, and the love for retro music is clearly a Gunn trademark as evidenced by every fricking movie he's ever made. Sounds like the b***h pulled some Fish Sticks shit.
>42 years old
>her only credits are GOTG, Detective Pikachu, and Captain Marvel
how the frick do these people survive? How do you get a Marvel movie as your very first credit?
She started writing for Marvel in 2009 when she was 28 years old. She spent 2 years writing a draft for Guardians of the Galaxy which seems like it got thrown out and replaced by Gunn. Two fricking years. Definitely a israelite with a family member high up to get a big job like that as your first job at 28 years old.
>I want credit for this already invented 40 year old character that I made worse with my moronic ideas
Can someone who knows how these credits and residuals work tell me: who would have got her residual money or payments or whatever that the credit entitles her too? Do the other writers or director get more? Does the studio keep more?
Just wondering what the possible motive is to screw people out of a credit.
>Just wondering what the possible motive is to screw people out of a credit
Not using their script
For movies residuals are a pool of money that is divided up by predetermined lines. Director 10%, Writers 10%, etc. The percentages are different on a movie to movie basis but the general framework is still the same.
If the writers were allotted 10% and there were 2 writers, they'd get 5% each.
Residuals are determined by movie. Credit is a rather arbitrary thing going by how much of the story the person wrote. I think the criteria is whoever decides things has to say you wrote a third of a story/script to get a credit.
There doesn't seem to be any real standard. I've read plenty of people complaining about it.
James Gunn is a c**t not because of this, but because while he cried about not receiving sole writing credit in Guardians of the Galaxy he still calls Dawn of the Dead 2004 "his" movie, this despite his screenplay being completely rewriting by two other people.
Here is Gunn complaining about not receiving proper due for rewriting GotG.
Meanwhile here is him calling the remake of Dawn of the Dead "his" movie, despite his script being completely rewritten by two other guys.
You would think this fricker would have some self-awareness.
James Gunn is just a c**t and a egomaniac that likes to steal everyone's thunder as his own.
Reminder that he told WBD that Kevin Feige came to him for ideas for all the recent Marvel films and that he was basically being prepped to be the new MCU boss. LMAO.
By all accounts he WAS supposed to do that though. He was supposed to be in charge of a new branch of Marvel that focused on "cosmic" stuff.
Then Kevin proceeded to make stupidest fricking shit ever for the lefty generation.
on IMDB the only writers are listed as James Gunn and George Romero
That's because of WGA rules. Even when you rewrite a script the first writer receives most of the credit.
Good lord this is such a non-story, gamerant is desperate to squeeze some controversy out of this
>So I wrote a script
>And then he completely rewrote it
>So basically I still wrote it
what is this inane horseshit
I am legit surprised about Gamesrant of all fricking places publishing something bad about James Gunn.
This explain why GotG 2 and 3 were so bad compared to the first one.
Remember this?
are you one of the kids James Gunn molested or something? You seem super butthurt over him for some reason lol
Are you his wife he defends so much? You seem super protective of his personal being on an anonymous board.
All the pajeets hate Gunn as if he killed their family because Gunn is rebooting DC instead of redeeming the Snyderverse.
Here's Kevin Feige talking who was responsible for what.
>the character lineup was essentially the same
>the character lineup is literally exactly the same as in the comic
You just need to look at Peacemaker to figure out what Gunn's solo writing ability looks like.
>Make them look the same and make the Goyim choose one. And make them choose the literal who for no reason other than she's a woman.
arbitration is normal in the guild and anyone that doesn't fight to get their name on their work deserves nothing
didn't he just plagiarized John Chriton form Farscape?
Lmfao!
A woman creating anything worth a shit, that's rich
Reminder that Affleck has said he will never work with Gunn. Affleck has said he met with Gunn and wants DC to succeed, but said he would never want to work with Gunn and he doesn't like him at all.
Ben Affleck is known throughout Hollywood as a dumb meathead and an all around bully. He made David Fincher's life hell over a cap and Harvey Weinstein hated the fact Matt Damon was friends with him because in his own words Ben Affleck was an odious person.
>and Harvey Weinstein hated the fact Matt Damon was friends with him because in his own words Ben Affleck was an odious person.
Am I supposed to side with Weinstein or Affleck here?
So a bunch of bullies don't like being bullied?
#t=7m7s
Craft services are bullies too?
Show me in the post I initially responded to where you mentioned craft services
Now that I realize this is Chris Raab I always find it amusing that people dismiss just how big of dickheads the Jackass and CKY crews were. The revisionism that they only pranked each other is ridiculous. Frantz was hanging out with the same guys that were kicking footballs into people's cars, throwing drinks at fast food workers, shitting in hardware store toilets, harassing people on a golf course, party boy harassing(sexually?) everybody, being general public menaces, etc etc. How about all of them bullying Danger Ehren for years? This guy doesn't get to cherry pick the kinds of bullies he approves of. He's a fricking dickhead too. If not personally then by association. But I digress. wiener blocking and throwing Tums at craft services then having a diva fit on him is a mean thing to do. Bullying Harvy Weinstein and a director, notorious for his egregious amount of takes that it physically and mentally wears actors down, isn't. TLDR: Shut the frick up, pussy.
Affleck just wants to work with his bro, Matt Damon
And what is Bin Afflecki's position on the Israel/Gaza conflict?
The guy who has looked absolutely miserable playing Batman for like 7 years no longer wants to play Batman. I'm shocked!
I have no idea how they got him to keep doing more and more shit post-Justice League where he was obviously very much over the role.
He came bac for Zack Snyder and his on set friends. After that he was out.
He came back for Flash and said it was his best experience playing Batman yet
He put his heart and soul into Snyder's vision. When he got booted so did Affleck's motivation to continue.
Real nice guy, that Affleck.
sounds like it was the director's fault
>>Pike said of her tough time shooting the scene, "I think around take eighteen of getting my head bashed against the wall, I literally saw stars. Ben just kept bashing my head hard against the wall with every take"
He wouldn't have kept doing that if the director didn't have them do so many takes.
Ben Affleck is known for bullying directors and actors.
He made Michael Bay's life hell in Armageddon.
Even David Fincher suffered under him.
>“I really wanted it to be a Yankees cap but [inhales loudly], being from Boston and not being very professional as an actor, Ben refused to wear a Yankees cap,” Fincher said. “I mean it did not come to blows but we had to shut down production for four days.”
He can't take it easy and ruin the shots himself, it's an unfortunate situation that was absolutely caused by the director.
One day Ben Affleck's sins will come out and he'll be seen as worse than Joss Whedon.
>David Fincher cast Emily Ratajkowski on recommendation by Ben Affleck. Fincher admitted that he had no idea who she was until Affleck told him to watch for her appearance in the infamous Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines music video where she is fully naked. Fincher was impressed by her work ethic during filming because according to her: "I was ready to be a student, and he is the best teacher. He wants to do a hundred takes, and I want to do them for him."
>Emily Ratajkowski herself spoke about the love scenes on The Today Show, explaining, “The whole experience was a little surreal… I have to be honest. Obviously Ben Affleck is one of those – you know his face. I grew up with his face. Not sure if he would love that. I went into an audition and there’s this really tall handsome guy. And I’m like, ‘Oh my god. That’s Ben Affleck.’”
>"By the end it felt like we were a married couple, we spent about 30 minutes of that 2 hour audition making out. We had very good chemistry, so it wasn't weird at all, which is what I was worried about."
>"Fincher and Ben are both obsessed with rehearsals. Totally obsessed. So when it comes time to shoot you don't have any nerves at all. The problem with sex scenes if you're uncomfortable, it really comes across in your performance. So to make the act feel more normal, Ben and I would usually spend a little bit of time before the shoot cuddling, kissing, petting. He'd even suck my breasts [laughs] to get more into the role."
To be fair, Ben Affleck looks like a total bloated, drunk piece of shit. Never understood his appeal.
>looks like a total bloated, drunk piece of shit
>Never understood his appeal
Are you sure you know where you are?
MY WOMAN ACCOMPLISHMENTS! A BOO HOO HOO!
Gee, who wouldn't want to consume art created by those two things?
I would really take it for these people
I'm skeptical of her claims. Her work product is very small compared to Gunn, and all of Gunn's other works have seen similarities to GOTG. If anything maybe story by or concept by, I don't think she "wrote" or even "co-wrote" the movie at all.
Gunn deserves alot of credit for the success of GotG, but alot of the elements that made it a hit came from Perlman.
Gunn seems to have a problem with sharing credit with others. Sad!
>Nicole had to knife-fight for her credit on Guardians of the Galaxy
Never bring a knife to a Gunn-fight.
Damn that's good. Pack it up everybody, thread's over.
>and passion for retro music
so the worst and most cringe inducing part
>rlman wrote the original story and screenplay for Guardians of the Galaxy, which included many iconic aspects such as Star Lord's tragic backstory and passion for retro music.
Proof?
