Truly oldgay here. You can't imagine how much this astounds me. When I started watching anime, ye olde dubs like Speed Racer and Gigantor, we had no idea they were foreign cartoons. It's nice to watch a show billed as a family comedy and have family members portrayed who don't hate each other's guts.
Kids are raised by good, loving parents and most of the slice-of-life stuff is usually just relatable everyday stuff, while the more action and drama oriented stuff isn't presented in such a moronic way that I can guess who the bad guys will be based on their race and/or gender.
I'm currently in grad school and I have a large group of friends. Out of the ~60 Gen Z peers I interact with on a close level:
15% watch anime weekly (mostly girls)
85% listen to podcasts weekly
5% watch live TV daily
< 5% Follow the NFL
most people I know are active and either gym/climb/soccer/basketball, but gen Z does not follow baseball or football in any appreciable way. I asked the HOST of one of the superbowl parties we're invited to this weekend who's even playing, and he had to look it up.
From the 1900s-1930s, the biggest sports in america were Boxing, Horse Racing, and Baseball. people thought those would never lose their appeal, never lose their popularity. Now look, when was the last time you went to a horse race? when was the last time boxing really mattered besides some meme fights?

I’m a milennial and only ever read news, tbh. Couldn’t get into shows of it. though I will say some of the 1min YouTube clips of breaking news catch my attention.
you might be surprised, some people just grow up with it and hang onto it. For what it’s worth, I don’t personally know any zoomers (or young millennials) into tv, let alone live tv.
