Besides the love triangle, Scott and Logan's disagreements also involved their ethics with Logan being the bad cop to Scott's good cop. Having Scott as the rookie leader gives a bit extra layer to his moral homosexualry vs Wolvie's no-nonsense approach of getting the job done. Is Logan being too cynical or is Scott too naive, which is more believable for a kid.
Also leads into that great moment where Cyclops actually wrestles leadership from Logan's hands to face Juggernaut and shows he's completely grown into the leader of the X-Men
I was just thinking about that scene. That whole stretch of time after the mansion blew up to stopping the Juggernaut without the prof was excellent! I loved to see my boy Cyke fight for what Xavier would have wanted

The pacing is atrocious on '97. The Genosha massacre should have had WAY more build-up. It's all spectacle, with no substance. A big important set-piece like that is usually a way to shake things up and establish a new status quo, but it's fricking episode FIVE! Every episode has been dramatic twist after dramatic twist, THERE IS NO FRICKING STATUS QUO TO SHAKE UP! I miss good writing, fellas.
