Israel and their lobbies at Disney and the other big 5 forgot that propaganda needs to be well written and primarily white and primarily male to not disturb digestibility for the audience around late 2015 or so, and everyone got angry for it. There is no going back now, we need to kill one another.
The internet used to be a diaspora gathering in a "place" separate from real life. The idea that something on the internet could impact you or pierce that veil of anonymity was farcical. Now, the internet is just another facet of real life, as majestic and ephemeral as a fax machine.
Worsening this is that the ironic detachment that suffused western culture in the 2000s snuffed out the genuine optimism of the 90s and no new culture has risen to wash it out because there's no longer a zeitgeist; media is filtered and personalized through algorithms to a degree where the basis of common culture that has been a societal bedrock for all of human history is no longer a given. You can find a community of toasterfrickers if that's what you're into, but rather than freeing people to express niche interests its made isolated bunkers of myopic freaks who would rather gawk and spew vitriol at each other than realize that 95% of people everywhere would really like to just go home and have dinner. This adversarial mindset has destroyed social media as a concept and the mindsets crystalized in this hellish crucible are now being reflected in traditional media; political strawmen, yellow journalism, media more concerned with pandering to a mass market than any sort of artistry.
That's not to say those trends haven't also existed since time immemorial, but the scale is now far different BECAUSE of the internet. It's a vicious cycle of splinter communities losing perspective then getting enough momentum to cause damage to the social fabric because the concept of compromise and coexistence has been lost in an age when it's far easier to find someone who already agrees with you and someone the two of you already hate than it is to find a place to just ... be online.
Social media as a whole is a moronic concept. The truth is people aren't all the same and never have been.
We were meant to be on isolated internet forums. Cavemen used to have tribes of around 50-ish people, obviously social interaction and connection is good for the soul but not to the extent of being perceived by everyone.
>Social media as a whole is a moronic concept.
Social media is industrialists realizing they can appropriate communication and sell it to people. We have forfeited things we used to do for free and now rely on mediating private entities. And all just for the ability to see cute pictures of animals.
For all the unnecessary verbosity. This guy is correct. I would also add that youth culture has turned into cringing culture, youth aggressively polices itself now to the point that no genuine sentiments are allowed. Everything has to be filtered through a jaded pessimism which yields layers upon layers of irony. Ironically, the only thing that can now be freely expressed on the internet is lust. Which is why most internet communities are just coomer factories now.
That era of the internet was incredibly cringe, but it's a bit preferable to the sheer inauthenticity that happens now where everyone hides behind several layers of irony.
Ah well, beaten to the punch. What that anon said.
We havent had the internet every generation bro, its actively worse now than it used to be thanks to several factors (net neutrality, a spew of garbage on social media, lead poisoned boomers trying to regulate shit they dont understand, bad faith grifters poisoning all hobby talk, companies buying up spaces so that there are no small niche communities anymore). Like things are actively fricking worse, this isnt just nature running its course.
I was talking generally, not just about the internet. And the teenagers on TikTok are going to be nostalgic to this era and brush over the negatives, just like you are doing right now.
You mean they'll be nostalgic to the time before TikTok was banned? Yeah probably, since they didnt exist when the earlier internet existed anyways you fricking moron.
>And the teenagers on TikTok are going to be nostalgic to this era and brush over the negatives
People will only romanticize this era is if things are unironically worse than now in terms of standard of living.

Because the internet gets more corporatized every year. And the world as a whole is worse too. It's all shit and it's going to get even more shit and no one seems to be trying to stop it.

A defrosted person from the 2000s would immediately get cancelled for calling everything gay and moronic. Casual homophobia, transphobia and ableism was rampant back then.
for all our complaints, there is no going back. you can't close pandora's box. the only way forward is when we inevitably collapse into another dark age. i'd love genuine camaraderie and passion about interests to make a return but there are too many people who will not allow it
You guys are over a decade late to regret the irony culture you helped usher in. No more sincere beliefs or joyful discussions about our hobbies, now we get to have people who pretend to love what they hate and hate what they love to boost engagement! Gotta farm those (You)'s! Ironic detachment is based!
Normalgays ruined the internet. And the only reason normalgays are on the internet now is because of smart phones and social media sites that allowed them to port their real world privileges and clout to the internet, because normalgays would never tolerate being on the same level as anonymous spergs.
Believe it or not, but the internet was still a much more happy-go-lucky place.
Hell, the fact that 9/11 had happened probably contributed to that. There were no news feeds and no social media politics. You'd just go to websites which were Sailor Moon fanfiction or silly Flash animations or were chatrooms with people you'd never meet and who were all trying to be silly and have fun to avoid the shitty world.
It used to be, if you wanted to tell a friend to frick off and drop dead, you could do so. At worst you'd get warned/banned from the chatroom but most likely nothing would happen if everybody was joking around.
Now, if you try to say that, you'll get your Twitter account deleted and no way to get it back. Not even social media cancelling, just the Twitter moderation bots flat out deleting your entire account. I've seen it happen over less, in the same situation.
You sound super sheltered, people say horrible shit on twitter all the time dude. You just put it in an image or screenshot a draft or get around the "have a nice day" filter in other ways.
unironically why does the internet get sadder every year
Israel and their lobbies at Disney and the other big 5 forgot that propaganda needs to be well written and primarily white and primarily male to not disturb digestibility for the audience around late 2015 or so, and everyone got angry for it. There is no going back now, we need to kill one another.

tl dr next time put some actual effort and state your point in one line.
The internet is bad because your mom is a prostitute and your dad is a homosexual.
Social media as a whole is a moronic concept. The truth is people aren't all the same and never have been.
We were meant to be on isolated internet forums. Cavemen used to have tribes of around 50-ish people, obviously social interaction and connection is good for the soul but not to the extent of being perceived by everyone.

>co-opting an intelligent effort post to cry about le porn
you are the problem
Imagine being so mindbroken that you only focus on somebody making an observation, not even saying anything negative about porn.
Ah well, beaten to the punch. What that anon said.
Corpos realized that using algorithms to promote negativity results in more user engagement and, by extension, money
You got older, less carefree and became more aware of things like politics. This happens to every generation.
moronic post.
You weren't there and it shows.
I was. Born in -91.
I was talking generally, not just about the internet. And the teenagers on TikTok are going to be nostalgic to this era and brush over the negatives, just like you are doing right now.

Increasingly corporatized internet
Misery = Money
Sadness drives engagement.
Because the internet gets more corporatized every year. And the world as a whole is worse too. It's all shit and it's going to get even more shit and no one seems to be trying to stop it.
that's life
2000s masturbation has become the new 90s
too bad you are the same old gay
I'm a zoomer however
Yep. It's all a treadmill. I've just accepted it.
Nice to know that everyone is sick of Twitter's shit and it's not just Cinemaphile.
Twitter has been widely regarded as the moron daycare of the internet at least since 2010
That era of the internet was incredibly cringe, but it's a bit preferable to the sheer inauthenticity that happens now where everyone hides behind several layers of irony.
That's your exact problem, worrying about what's cringe or not. Everything eventually becomes cringe.
Totally agreed.
But then I'm a contrarian so I tend to prefer being sincere.
A defrosted person from the 2000s would immediately get cancelled for calling everything gay and moronic. Casual homophobia, transphobia and ableism was rampant back then.

We need to inspire the change. All of us need to stop fricking worrying about being cringe and just make a bunch of forums and shit.

sorry I merely observed you attaching your agenda to someone else's arguments like a barnacle, just an observation
>Agenda
It's almost like you can see the brainrot in real time
This.
>INB4 OMG LE HECKIN MASS REPLYERINO!!!
I ship this cute incel couple
You ship anon with himself?
Robotnik made a good point
>replies to a bunch of different people
>nobody cares
?
If they say they don't care, they cared enough to respond. This anon even curated who they responded to.
Gotta get back
Back to the past
That's probably bullshit.
