I remember the satire landing well for me I think I just lost the plot at some point, it is a long one and isn't particularly straightforward in its storytelling iirc

I just watched it, I enjoy it in the way I like Sucker Punch or Snow Crash. It seems to have a lot of ideas that the director thinks are important but he has no idea how to communicate them or even add anything to the conversation. Still an interesting movie with a strong authorial voice. Good cast, I used to like The Rock before his ego outgrew his talent.

Not really. There a couple of pozzed things I noticed from my watch at the cinema earlier - the main antagonist is a white blondie, they're exploiting innocent whites and, at the end, John fights to free little Gonzales
Better than that: he kills a bunch of mexicans, a black man, and a swedish woman who are exploiting desperate white people who have terminal cancer by pretending to have a miracle cure.
these movies are literally just gore porn. whats stopping me from making a script titled Daisys Destruction: The Real Tapes and making some dumb narrative around it with fake edgy rape torture scenes and getting some dumbasses to finance it?

Not really. Evil Dead 2013 just does a good job playing on common fears, like needles in eyes or tongues being cut. It does have a demon tentacle crawling into that poor girl's cooter, though, so it absolutely does outdo Saw there.

Both Shawnee and Tobin Bell look too old to be playing younger versions of themselves in movies that are supposed to be taking place between Saw 1-4. Hell, Tobin Bell could die any day now.
