Unfortunately for him Disney took this as a challenge as they are never one to be "one-up'd" so they've taken great strides to destroy the Marvel Brand in kind over the past decade and a half.
While Marvel fans have long since come to terms with the the decline of their preferred comics brand (and the inevitable death of comics as a whole) taking modest sollace in the novel success of the MCU eventually Disney also saw the misserable state of the DCEU as a challenge and rose to meet it in kind leading to the MCU's current laughable DEI state. And though DC is still beating the pants off of Marvel in terms of A.I. level (if not literal) writing and art along with poor box office performance, I'm sure Disney will close the gap; if not in brand disinterest/destruction then at least in terms of money lost.
But no matter the state of Marvel, at least it's fans were relatively grounded, if not guarded, in their love of what was and never had to resort to defending people like Grant Morrison or Zack Snyder. Marvel fans have always been keenly aware of their brand's events being middling to shit and didn't need to constantly venerate them in hindsight like DC fans do with Crisis events to justify the brand they used to love. I mean Kingdom Come and Earth X are both great, but at least the Marvel fans don't view theirs like some magical argument 'macguffin'.
You have two dying brands, both ruined by the hubris of their corporate overlords. While Marvel fans have long since come to terms with this, much like a terminal cancer diagnosis, the DC fans (no matter how few or many there are) have chosen to fight kicking and screaming to the bitter end still waiting for the day when BvS will be viewed as the 'Blade Runner' of its time... still never shutting the frick up about Crisis Events and the Anti-Monitor (like Marvel doesn't already have twenty of those fricking things).
