He was Slinky in Toy Story and his last performance ever was the crazy prospector guy from Atlantis. The movie was actually dedicated to him because he died shortly before it was released.

He was a literal fricking hillbilly song and dance man from Kentucky who was a jack of all trades: super talented bluegrass musician who performed at the Opry, was a brilliant actor who won several stage acting awards and was employed at the pioneer playhouse, and overall was widely considered a star-in-waiting when producers stumbled upon him.
However, the one thing that stuck was a) His Ernest character(which he developed in a way very similar to how Paul Reubens developed Pee-Wee)
and b) his voice-acting skills, which carried him after Ernest faded
He also made a ton of jokes at the expense of Italians, which were funny.

He's pretty much reddit meets netflix meets globohomosexual feminism. Basically he's feminism the person made to hypnotise the viewer into thinking "white men bad" and "POC women good". There isn't really much more to this dreary guy than that.

If I hadn't watched Ernest Goes To Camp a few hours back I would've called you a homosexual but that movie was comically woke for its time period.
However, he made up for it by making everything else, i.e.

    >According to an interview, one of his final projects was writing a screenplay about the legendary feud between the Hatfields and the McCoys, stating that his grandfather hunted squirrel with the Hatfields. Varney also allegedly had been hoping to acquire more serious acting roles before his death, wanting to step outside the typecast of Ernest.

I'd imagine he'd either get into indie dramas like Bill Murray did in the 00s given Varney was closely involved with the indie production scene, or he'd be the next Jeff Bridges.
        Either way, what a tragedy.
