John Stewart of the DCAU is not the smartest JL member, or the strongest, or the fastest. In fact, when you really get down to it, he's probably the weakest. He doesn't have any special powers or abilities. He just has a ring, which we see time and time again get compromised throughout the show. Batman's just a guy too, but he has so many different gadgets and tools at his disposal that if one of them is compromised he can just use another.
Anyway, all of this is to say that John isn't particularly imposing or intimidating among the rest of the JL members. Yet, he's often their leader. Sure, Batman leads too sometimes, along with Superman, but most often it's John. He's probably the weakest on the team, yet he's still the cool, badass leader of the strongest organization in the galaxy and commands each member's respect. They all follow him. I think that's tremendous, and as someone who's also not the biggest, the fastest, or the smartest, I think that's inspirational as well, and find myself striving to try and be someone worth following.
Aside from his leadership, I admire his sense of accountability and discipline, his badass, cool, stoic demeanor, and his desire for order. Every day, whenever I'm faced with a major decision I ask myself "what would John Stewart do; how would he handle this." When it's 4am and my alarm is going off for the gym and I'd rather just roll over and go back to bed, I tell myself "John Stewart would get up and go to the gym." When I've had a long day at work and come home to chores and responsibilities that I'd much rather put off until a later time, my first thought is that John Stewart wouldn't procrastinate. He'd put responsibility and work ahead of play and relaxation.
I know a lot of people don't like him but John Stewart of the DCAU is unironically an inspiration to me.
BBC energy
calm down anon
Has a ring that can do anything, uses it to read a newspaper. He's an inspiration to be a fricking useless diversity hire.
All of the JL members were nerfed in the show. Replace John wth Hal and it's exactly the same. It took Flash a full 5 minute chase scene just to catch up to a stolen van.
%3D
the fricking JL cartoon was full of turning everyone that wasn't the focus episode character into fodder, it felt less like an ensemble and more like rotating main characters than instantly makes everyone else useless, except batman of course
>except batman of course
You didn’t watch the show. Fricking clown.
batman dogged omega beam, no one can deny the amount of batwank in this shitty show
He didn’t dodge those slow ass beams you stupid frick. He used a random body to get in the way of the trajectory. If he didn’t do that he would’ve gotten his ass fried. He accomplished nothing by doing that shit except stay alive.
You didn't watch the show Hal pedo
Green lanterns are very good swiss army knife , jack of all trades. And mega heavy hitters at full charge. Comparing a green lantern with a uncharged ring is like comparing super man with kryptonite, or peter with empty web shooters, or ben 10 with the omintrix on cool down. It's needed to out them in danger and give them a weakness
>he posted it again
lmfao
I want to see other people post characters that inspire/motivate them. Is that bad?
LanternBitches are the biggest disgrace in DC. Bunch of loser jobbers jealous of what everyone else got.
>He's probably the weakest
No Green Lantern is the weakest member on a team that has a Hawkperson on it
POOPlantern is an abused house wife.
His most badass moment is in the WWII episodes when his ring runs out of power and he fights the one marine just to show the others that he's a marine too. Those were his best episodes. And when he was fighting on the Nazi jet and said, "Talk is cheap..." I love that badass stuff.
I started reading comics because of this show. I went to a comic book store for the first time and asked the guy behind the counter where's a good place to start with Green Lantern just because I always thought his powers were cool from this show. He placed Secret Origin in my hands and my first thought was "oh, white Green Lantern? I don't know how I feel about this...." I can laugh at myself now. But I bought it anyways and loved it. Green Lantern was my access point into comics and the DC universe.
>anons turning on justice league and john
Never thought I'd see the day.
We live in a post-2016 society where everything is sociopolitical and everyone's opinion is polarized. John is black, therefore bad, pozzed, diversity hire, israelites, BBC, etc. I miss the days when I could watch a cartoon or read a book or play a video game without it supposedly saying something about my sociopolitical opinions.
It can't be the metric ton of disingenuous people pushing for this garbage that makes everyone else distrust it and outright dismiss it without giving it a chance
No, it must be /misc/ I mean I have never personally been to /misc/ nor have I interacted with someone who does but I like to sit Infront of the catalog all day and see the /misc/ shadows projected there and that's enough for me, why take five minutes to leave this board and find out for myself how the rest of the website is like when I can listen to third party accounts on it for hours
Who are you quoting?
The average Cinemaphile fourchanner
>John is black, therefore bad, pozzed, diversity hire, israelites, BBC
there are people who think he's automatically good for those exact same reasons, anon. and those people are the ones churning out the shit we see today
I know, and those people are just as insufferable. I should have been more clear. I'm shitting on both sides of the spectrum, because they're both fricking obnoxious.
I like when they let him actually make complex constructs based on his architectural knowledge.
I don't understand why they decided to retcon John Stewart into existence for JL when they already introduced Kyle in STAS.
Badass is an industry plant term
>In fact, when you really get down to it, he's probably the weakest
Dude the GLs are as perpetually nerfed as the Flashes are. They could literally sling nukes like punches if they wanted to but that would make the stories pretty short.
Obviously he's not the weakest canonically or whatever. I just mean he's portrayed that way in the show.
