Jonathan Hickman's new Marvel character called Mia the Magic Girl.
Do you think she will catch on?
Strange to see a new female character in comics that actually looks cute and sweet.

Why does mantis have robot arms
I donno but I'm diggin her armour.
The new GotG volume has Mantis shifting between different personalities and costume depending on the circumstances, like she's multiple different versions of herself
In battle she turns Anime
That's just moronic.
Not really without precedent though. Avengers: celestial Quest featured Mantis uniting fractured aspects of her person who were living as separate physical entities. And that shit was from Englehart himself.
Better question, why isn’t she green anymore?
I forgot what happens but basically in the Asian voices one shot last year she went back to her natural skin color.
Of course it's a strong independent brown lesbian
>brown lesbian
that's her costume
Horrific art.
Todd Nauck has been a disease for far too long. He's, like, almost good but SO generic.
ITodd Nauck and y'all are gay.
it's better than the Greg land cover she also on
I could smear shit on a cavas and it would be better than anything in Land's entire career.
land used to be good like in books like Sojourn at Crossgen he's just really fricking lazy these days
Land is solid, you guys are babies.
>Mia the Magic Girl, a young sorcerer struggling to achieve her full potential.
so Tim Hunter but as a cute Brown girl
99% of new characters never catch on.
Sorry but Marvel already made a cute teen sorceress this decade, come back in 2030. She even teamed up with Dormammu which makes her vastly more interesting than what Hickman is planning.
Is Hickman forcing her into the Collin Kelly run? Because if so, lol.
For me it's the Runaways in general for newer Marvel characters.
>For me it's the Runaways in general for newer Marvel characters.
Nico is the only one you ever see anything about, the only member of her group that had any staying power so much so that she's made the jump from her comics into TV and a vidya.
She's even taking the default position as Pete's best friend in the upcoming Spider-Man cartoon.
Because the rest of them are either lame or have no personality. 2nd potentially most interesting Runaway character is probably Karolina or Molly. And the former is just a token alien lesbian and the latter is just a meme.
>She's even taking the default position as Pete's best friend in the upcoming Spider-Man cartoon.
Is that still happening?
I thought it got canceled
I thought it was the first season is being finished but there will be no contiuation
Its still happening but as
said, just one season unless it does well.
>Hickman forcing her into the Collin Kelly run? Because if so, lol.
its just covers dummy
the covers are connected to issues coming out in August where Hickman is writing a page(we don't know what this page constitutes) to hype people up for his G.O.D.S book coming in September/October. GOTG is one of these books along with FF, Uncanny Avengers, Scarlet Witch, Moon Knight, Immortal Thor, Venom, and Doctor Strange.
>Runaways
>New
Anon they debuted 20 years ago.
>Strange to see a new female character in comics that actually looks cute and sweet.
Now post how other artists draw her.
she will be unceremoniously killed by a different writer in 2 years
Don't care. They should stop putting non-cosmic humans into space.
G.O.D.S. feels like a rejected Eternals pitch.
not even that feels like a rejected Vertigo/Sandman/Books of Magic/Hellblazer pitch that Hickmen wanted to do when he was courting DC before coming back to Marvel to do X-men
>Your new FAVORITE character!
>Forgotten in 4 months.
Many such cases.
INDIA SUPERPOWER 2023?!
>Mia the Magic Girl.
>Do you think she will catch on?
No, Also, could she be flatter? Her chest is like a fricking ironing board.
Why is she dressing like Velma?
Aren't there already two characters who could play this role? We've got Zelma, Dr Strange's librarian apprentice from Strange Academy, and Darcy Lewis in Scarlet Witch's recent run (not like her MCU version at all though she does look similar).
Hickman is the kind of writer who prefers to use OCs than established characters he doesn't care about. Notice how his X-Men run had far less OCs than his Avengers run, it's because he's an X-Men fan while Avengers was just a job to him.
>he's an X-Men fan
No wonder why his Krakoa era X-men is shit.
even his X-men is full of new or basically new versions of characters, Moira, Apocalypse, Okkara, Orchis characters besides Karima, etc it was the other writers that reintroduced the older concepts of X-men during his X-men run.
Sounds like a ripoff of Mai the Psychic Girl.
considering this book s has been described as "Marvels's Sandman" by Hickmen and the description the charecter is "Mia the Magic Girl, a young sorcerer struggling to achieve her full potential." makes it sound like Hickmen wants to make his attempt at Books of Magic or other Vertigo books
I'm more interested in Aiko
>Aiko Maki, a high-ranking agent brutally loyal to the ways of science and willing to do anything to keep the building blocks of creation in balance.
Feels like he's just recycling ideas from his Decorum comic, especially after it was cut short.
I think Hickmen just really likes characters that are in Black and White, Black Swan from his Avengers run Death from East of West, Summener from X-men, and Mina from SHIELD, so Aiko and Cubisk Core from GODS are just following a visual theme he has had for over a decade now.
That being said the whole science vs magic thing doesn't really peak my interest
Because Magic vs Science isn't original and it has been done by better writers in better mediums.
It's been done by other writers in Marvel too, although whether those writers were better than Hickman is up for debate.
It's funny because when I saw this character my first thought was knowing Hickman it would turn Mia is using the spells as hacking reality crap from the MCU. Bonus points if she turns out to be either an alt-universe or time displaced daughter of the Scarlett Witch and Vision, a true blending between flesh and machine so advanced she's indistinguishable from the real them, more so than a regular synthezoid.
I suppose a red coat with an orange turtleneck isn't helping, insofar as sometimes Vision's outfits incorporate a more orange cape than yellow. Complete with a "Mind Stone" necklace.
>can we have Kitty Pride
>we already have Kitty Pride Month at home
What did Hickman mean by that
>No costume
>No cool name
No chance.
Love that Gamora outfit.
Fricking hell the Guardians are at their lowest point right now. What the frick is that Star Lord costume?
They're trying a space western style.
Its hit or miss, personally I don't mind it too much.
