If we go by "The status quo was really fricking stupid and bad for a while" that's kind of comics. There will always be a period of bad status quo for big comic universes cause of shakeup. I'd argue a lot of those were still way less awful than a lot of the shit 90s Marvel was pushing.
We look back on it being so bad it's good now in hindsight but like being forced to be through like Heroes Reborn, or the Spider-Clone Saga, or half of the other insane shit like Mid to late 90s X-men would be really stupid.
