Which one is better? Infinity War, The Avengers and Iron Man are their best films and none of them were as ambitious or technically/artistically impressive as this, even if there were a few misses writing-wise.

This film is as impressive as The Mandalorian. That is to say not impressive at all. They used the Volume tech for everything.

          >were as ambitious
This was literally a soulless movie where the studio just tried to copy the things that worked before for them but with none of the understanding of what made it work. This is Nolan's shit but worse.

I think it's a little campier than Nolan's Batman films and aesthetically it's closer to the Animated Series as well. I think there's potential if they don't try and take it in a super self-serious and gritty direction, but I already think it's more cartoonish than the previous films since Schumacher, for better or worse.

              Anonymous

To add, I like that's taking itself just seriously enough while still doing the camp thing and not making it too obvious (like the MCU does with the constant ironic winking at the audience). It might filter a lot of people at first, but I think if they can tighten up the script and drop the pop politics next time, it will be much more of a success.

It's decent for the first half or so and then goes completely off the rails once Riddler reveals his "plan". None of it makes any sense after that.

In Nolan's movie you get to see all the preparation, resources, and sheer willpower it takes to lead such an extreme double life. You feel how exhausting it must be when Alfred forces him out of bed in order to attend meetings and maintain his playboy persona. This new Batman is just moody and lame. He doesn't have the same relentless drive and obsession. He would just roll-over in bed and tell Alfred to frick off.

        Anonymous

I like a moody Batman. Bale’s Batman is just gigachad, which Batman is, but his only sources of torment are external.
If left to himself, he’s just a happy go lucky charismatic billionaire.
Batman should be dark and brooding and Bale IMO didn’t capture it.

                >Better Wayne and Batman than Bale
Shit Batman that sucks at fighting and detective, and shit Wayne because his Wayne isn't even a proper character. It was a boring and one note acting delivered by Pattinson because the director is a hack.

This is how every scene plays out with Pattinson in this movie, cowl or no cowl
                >looks down as if he is about to cry
                >looks to the corner of the screen as if he was thinking of something in an attempt not to cry
                >then look directly at the screen as if he was paying attention to something
                >eyes starts to water again as if he was about to cry again

Good at fighting since he defeats everyone that fights him, good detective since he solves every mystery put in front of him, and good Wayne because it actually showed what a real Bruce Wayne would be like without doing the same cringe thing Bale and Affleck did.
If you can't see how great Pattinson's performance is, you either have autism or didn't even watch the movie.

Shit at fighting because he just does the same moves over and over again and is a lardass because he is slow as frick and all the fights are boring. The invincible suit is the only thing carrying him. Otherwise he would be dead ten times over. He is a shit fighter.
Shit detective because he was unable to save anyone and couldn't stop anything the Riddler did. Most of the time you've Alfred, Gordon, and Catwoman handing all the clues to him. Catwoman is the one to find all the truth about the corruption by kidnapping the convenient as frick corrupt cop that knew everything. If it wasn't for that Batman would still be going around blindly being duped by everyone.

Shit fricking Batman and shit movie. Don't respond back to me.

                Anonymous

He's brutal and quick and the suit helps. That's what Batman has always been.
He couldn't have stopped what Riddler was doing even if he tried because the bombing happened literally two hours later, not enough time to stop the vans, but the definition of a detective is someone who solves mysteries. And Batman does that. Alfred and Penguin give his suggestions, they don't solve shit.
Catwoman couldn't have solved shit without Batman. Rewatch the movie. It's the best Batman.

What i said about the movie is the truth. the movie fricking sucked and Pattinson was wasted on the character because the director is a hack. The fight scenes weren't brutal. The movie is PG as frick. The fights were fricking boring. You've Pattinson moving slow as frick and doing the same punch, punch, throw, punch when down shit over and over again. It is boring as frick.

Here's his personality that the film clearly shows: He's a broken man practically defined by his childhood tragedy who deep down cares for those he loves but can't show it due to fear of loss. He can't get into being the Bruce the world wants him to be because he doesn't feel it'll make a difference, so instead he uses his torment and rage to fight crime. This rage funnels through a childlike perception of vengeance, which he can feel isn't changing anything, but can't let go of due to his hurt. He eventually learns that in order to make a difference he must help others instead of helping himself. He goes from selfish to selfless.
Bale's Bruce is: My parents died I'm sad and angry but halfway through the movie I learn to be perfect at everything.
Which is the better Bruce in terms of characterization?

He has more determination and obsession than Bale did. Bale did just roll over in bed. "Bats are supposed to be nocturnal Alfred," he says as he puts a fricking pillow over his face to block out light.
Meanwhile, Pattinson is up and about, putting shades on to block sunlight. He's not too tired to do business, he just doesn't care. Pattinson is more the chad than Bale is. Bale goes to work and sleeps. Pattinson says frick work, I'm gonna go kick ass and investigate.

He defeats every person he goes up against physically. You guys say he sucks at fighting, but he takes down everyone he goes up against.
Plus, he solves everything. The only example you guys have is Penguin's suggestion, but Alfred had already told him what Penguin said. He just didn't look into it. So, you're objectively wrong about that as well.
Meanwhile, Bale did one bit of detective work in the entire trilogy, and he couldn't have done it without Lucius Fox, whereas Pattinson would've solved the cipher with or without Alfred, as is shown by him solving the first one by himself.

Too much content for a first film. It has to built up over time, probably the 3rd film at the earliest. I would first focus on showing Bruce Wayne become the socialite we know he is from the comics, gain friends and start to have relationships with the elite of Gotham. Then for some of those established characters turn out to be part of the Court of Owls in a later film, not the same one. It would mean a lot more if they space it out and tease it. Plus I would prefer it to include at least Nightwing in the film, the moment batman knocks his molar out and tells Dick he was supposed to be the next Talon could be an iconic movie moment for normies. It would also bring up questions about why his parents were killed. It would of course include fight scenes with Talon and Batman isn't ready for such a fight yet in my opinion. He still needs to undergo training by the league to be a match or at least a few more years as the Bat.

Should be immediately after since Begins ended with Bruce looking into the Joker.

Unless that ending scene was after a long time skip or something.

Nolan probably didn’t give a shit about that little Joker tease honestly. In universe, it’s possible that the Joker flew under the radar for a few years after Begins.

When you try to be something more than a superhero movie, you either make it great like Joker, or end up falling very short like this movie. This isn't neither Batman the great detective nor Batman the guy with amazing gadgets, it's just some guy in a costume.

Joker is a supervillain, part of a superhero franchise, please stop going off on a tangent.

          >isn't even a joker movie
Precisely what made it great; with this iteration of Batman, they tried to make him more human, without so much power, but failed at delivering what makes Batman interesting.

Joker in the movie wasn't a supervillain. He was just a mentally ill person.

      >Penguin getting away with killing all those people on the freeway

Only part that pissed me off is when he started it up and was doing that kino warm up it sputtered for a split second, like it moved forward a couple inches and stopped for no reason instead of burning out or something. Also why did penguin just sit there and watch while the car was warming up instead of just booking. I also don’t even know if the car was warming up or not. He could have just drove right at penguin and ran him over while he was
staring at the bat mobile like a moron.

In a lot of ways I feel like this movie was made for me. Black and red aesthetic. Angry violent Batman. Serial killer villain. Mullato waifu. Nirvana. But for some reason it just didn't click for me. It's not bad or anything, but its never going to be something I watch 1000 times like I have the Nolan movies.

I wouldn’t call them pretentious but I also wouldn’t call them rewatchable. TDK and DKR are overlong and kind of a slog upon rewatch. Nolan movies in general are made to be theatrical experiences and aren’t as good on home video.

A film is nowadays remembered by the quality and quantity of its memeable content in my opinion. You forget a beautiful edit of a film's gorgeous cinematography in a few seconds but you'll laugh at, remember and repeat the funny memes from that film. American Psycho is full of memes. I saw all the memes before watching the film and loved seeing each one again. That's why despite it being an irrelevant film it's known by basically every male zoomer because of the memes.

The Batman had a few meme able moments
    >SOMETHING IN THE WAY HMMMMMMM HMMMMMM
    >Riddler singing AWWWWW MARIA
    >What are you showing me here, OPEN YOUR EYES
    >the cutting of the wire in the 3rd act with a silent scream
    >I'M VENGEANCE
    >Batman running in the police station

There's a few so it's more memorable than Batman Begins but still not as iconic as the other two Dark Knight films. Based on this there's potential. As long as there's a lot more memeable content in the later films it will be remembered. It still needs something akin to Baneposting to be stuck in everyone's heads.

A good quote is still extremely memorable and the Dark Knight Rises had a lot. Most notably the
    >Its not about the money, its about sending a message
    >You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain
Good quotes will last the longest but they're really rare. For most films, the memeability is what matters to any retention for the zoomer audience.

At least that's my observation as a zoomer.
