Just caught the early screening. It's kino. The train sequence towards the end felt kind of cheap though when it's slowly sliding off the bridge.

Best since 4.
Super average points but overall pretty good
Villain being a sentient AI and Gabriel being an omnipotent agent/angel of AI god was gay though
Saw early screening tonight. Kino of the highest order. Cruise missile doesn't miss.
See this in the theater so it doesn't get grouped in with the garbage flops that define the rest of the summer
Two excellent set pieces but everything in between was kind of insufferable
This. The plot was fine but the constant exposition and saying the word "key" every 4 words each sentence got old. Loved the action though.
>Two excellent set pieces but everything in between was kind of insufferable
So basically just like Fallout then.
>Two excellent set pieces but everything in between was kind of insufferable
That's literally all these movies are, action set pieces glued together by boring filler. What makes this one different?
doesn’t this have like a 300 million dollar budget? will it even make its money back?
300 mil for both part 1 and 2
Yes, it was also the first production to resume filming under COVID restrictions so the budget ballooned a bit. This was the set where Cruise had that meltdown audio.
>3 hours
Too long. Still going to watch it. I suspect they're keeping the big fireworks for the last part.
>Kino action you can actually follow
>Real stunts and fights instead of CGI capeshit
>Dudes are competent and badass without being perfect
>Women are beautiful and skilled without being perfect Mary Sues
>Diverse cast but nobody gives a shit because nobody's identity defines them (like in the real world)
>A few good laughs
>some cool mask moments
>Multiple extended Cruise running scenes
>Kino
The villain is a bit of a reach but more fun then a ticking bomb or a dude with his finger on the trigger. See this movie, show the out of touch Hollywood shits what people think is kino
>Multiple extended Cruise running scenes
Ok, you have persuaded me.
Saw it tonight as well. Felt a lot more like the first Brian DePalma movie more than the last few. Pretty good. I will say some of the comedic bits felt too much. Like the Fiat. Humorous when it’s first shown jumping out next to a sports car, but did we really need a full minute of fidgeting and adjusting and Cruise bumbling? Still Kino but it did stop the momentum of that Rome chase.
True, but it was like a minor footnote in an otherwise amazing sequence. And that's long been a theme of these movies where the tech doesn't work as it should and the plan gets fricked, so I get why its in there. Could have been shorter but still good.
Are you gay?
what are you, some kind of butthole?
Cruise does a bit too much helpless bumbling in the movie. The worst was when he crashes into the train towards the end. Atwell had more screentime than he did in the last half of the film.
>Cruise does a bit too much helpless bumbling in the movie
OH NONONONO
He's getting replaced by Atwell isn't he?
Better than Fallout? Any stunts on par with halo jump and burj-khalifa?
Overall I thought it was pretty keyed
I arrived ten minutes after it started but was there any explanation as to why Cruise needed both parts of the key and if one doesn’t work without the other, then couldn’t they have just destroyed the part the already had and be done with it?
>I arrived ten minutes after it started
Thinking about it after posting, I suppose the AI was present and the full key was the tool needed to destroy it. Nvm. 😉
Who was Ying from the trailer?
what?
At 0:33, "Chang Ying"?
She says chain ging. Like chain gang. Nothing to do with China
Why does she say it like that/say that? What the frick is chain ging?
Fricksake the full line is "The world is Chang Ying" ('china's fields'). Same as Maverick nixing taiwan and Barbie 9 dash line sucking up acknowledging muh soft power
As long as it has action as good as the last one I'm sold. I watched the last one at home and I could still feel how riveting it was. Really well done, it surprised me
I liked the bit where she was handcuffed to him, and asked him to drive so they bumped into each other wholesomely.
bros Cruise may be the only person making movies that show boys what a cool, capable, moral man is without immediately emasculating him in the next scene.
I found the only downside the "humor" segments.
What kind of humor was it? Boomer humour? Jap humor? Millenial humor?
I only mind the latter
Did anyone feel like they are saving the best stunts for part 2? The big set piece in the marketing was him riding off a cliff and parachuting down, which is cool, but when compared to the last one, seems like they are holding out on us. For reference, Fallout had the halo jump, him riding a motorcycle through traffic and crashing into a car, the big fight in the bathroom, climbing up a rope of an airborne helicopter and then flying it through mountain passes.
all the women are ugly
embarrassed for you anon
>Titcow
>Mantis
homie you gay
I'm sorry Muttdaya isn't there, gaylord.
Went to see it last week and loved it. Felt like they played it too safe and some of the stunts got into F&F territory, but still good.
best action movie since Fury Road.
The AI plot is very timely especially the truth/misinformation angle since that's all Governments talk about these days. They warn against dis info but no one puts more dis info out there than western Governments
great movie, however felt a bit repetitive. train fight already done on first 1. car around the city down in fallout same as dust storm.. train sequence was good. titcow was good, stole the movie.
Anyone want a repeat of my story summary green text from last night?
The script felt aimed at moronic people. Everything about the AI was fricking stupid and mishandled, except for some stuff they just lightly glossed over (compromised all intelligence). Exposition was really really annoying. Lots of shit lines and shit editing during the dialogue scenes. Too many dutch angles. The "cliffhanger" was bullshit. Why is the AI in the submarine when it's also everywhere? Why does it have a display component with blue lights? Why did it even matter it was "there" at the Venice party? Gabriel or whatever was shit, bad actor and stupid character. Pom was cute and basically an anime character. Hayley Atwell was hot. Some good action, but also some cg slop. Peaked at the Rome sequence. Ving Rhames can't deliver his lines. 6/10 meh.
Good film overall with some great set pieces and stunts. I think the runtime was excessive though. Way too much exposition with characters repeating THE ENTITY over and over.
Too many womannnnnnnnnnnnn
>too many hot womannnnnnnnnnnnn
fixed
I wish the director would make an Uncharted franchise at some point
Shouldnt' be renamed to Mission: Above Average? or Mission: Doable?
