The more Hatred shows up, the lower the season score. He was funny as a faux polite antagonist, but the second he turned ship the show chemistry was all off.
I was about to call you and the other ranker a jackass for putting the shitty "Monarch picks up soup a few episodes in a row and goes from a lvl 3 to a lvl 8 with zero actual arching" but holy shit Season 1 has ALL of my least favorite episodes (With a few gems inbetween like Gargantua and the one with the Pirates). Especially Brisbyland.
Season 1 it's not completely bad. Whenever I rewatch it I remember the Mike sorayama episode or the tag sale episode are fine. But apart from the ones you mention all the others are not fun to rewatch. Brisby I skip every time
Tbh it's a big drop from S2/3 to 4/5. Idk if Patrick Warburton was busy elsewhere, or if the team was tired of "And then Brock does something cool" or what, but the end of The Family that Slays is so rushed. It's not all bad, I love that they actually need to take care of the twins, 24 dying is probably the funniest twist that really propels the show, but then you have so much Hatred, and the fricking Pupa Twins idk why those two got so much screen time, the joke was just "Dr Mrs Girlfriend is super competent" without any humor.
Too many episodes in season 4 nearly killed them and season 5 seemed like they did a big restructure behind the scenes while riding out some bad jokes they really liked before they killed it all off.
> take 2-3 years between seasons because dicking around > 7 seasons after nearly 2 fricking decades > most of AS' target audience were either not born yet or literal toddlers when the show started
yeah, wonder why
love the show but the creators are largely to blame for not staying on the ball
IDK who chang is, but i'm a 40 year old white guy who was the show's target audience. I got all the references and it was max comfy. looking forward to the hbo special in 20 years when it finally airs, if I'm not dead by then.
>Dicking around
The vast majority of the work is done by Doc and Jackson. Its a good thing it takes this long to make because they actually had almost complete creative control. This is why Venture Bros is so full of soul and why so many other cartoons are fricking garbage now.
Adult Swim can go frick itself for not just giving them a timeline to wrap the show up properly. They fricking went this far.
Lazzo retired so others came in and looked around and cleaned up. Which is a shame because the show is a masterpiece and surprisingly stayed intact throughout all the years. It deserves better but at the same time its been on borrowed time since 2010.
I have a friend who's a gigantic fan that would make us watch this all the time. I still can't believe how good the continuity held up considering the show had been running for over two decades. There will be some side gag or off comment about a character that you never see, and then four seasons later they show up. or they will have subplots or backstories that constantly come back and are just absolutely watertight, nothing gets changed in the details. Even the in universe history of all the characters going all the way back to the in universe 1800s is extremely reliably accurate whenever they reference it. IIRC the wiki for the show is actually pretty insane and thorough because of the amount of detail, self-referencing, and again just airtight continuity
The vast majority of scenes with two characters talking to each other is just those two riffing essentially. The two guys in the guild are the biggest self inserts. They just slowly started making them look like themselves too.
I think the best part of the show when it was still on the air was just hanging out with your buddies and quoting it. I don't think I have a single friend who doesn't do at least one of the voices perfectly. And we'll just be hanging out drinking beers or taking the kids to the park and one of us will just bust out a henchman 24 or Augustus St cloud voice. It never fails to make us laugh. Maybe we're npcs I don't know I fricking love it
Favorite Venture Bros quate? Mine is? >BILLY: "I have never tasted the flower of a woman" >DOC: "Why did you get so poetic suddenly? Say it, say I'm a virgin. >BILLY: "I'm a virgin" >DOC: "There you go, far as I'm concerned [talking about killing him] it isn't even murder, but late abortion.
The first one that comes to mind is the group costume arguement, >who can forget the hard rocking quartet of gene Simmons [other Kiss members], and THE BAT!
Am I the only one who thought this show died with it's original airing?
I don't know, to me that final prom episode will always be the real ending to me
I felt like the show dragged a bit after that, like it was just dlc
I still like season 5 but I think that should've been the wrap up of the series. Dedicate the episodes to revealing the Monarch and Rusty being related and the boy's mom. But I guess they got optimistic and wanted to get a few more seasons so they did the New York arc. Which clearly changed mid production because it dropped like half its subplots mid season. Most likely because of the few episodes they managed to get ordered
>>Doc and Hammer used up almost all the budget for s2 just to get the song rights
It's crazy how cheap VB is when you then compare it to shit like Family Guy who uses major songs for dumb gags all the time. They also couldn't afford to put Not the first time at the end of Invisible Hand of Fate.
It's crazy how much production and writing quality improved between season's one and two
S1 is underrated, you guys just have shit taste.
Apart from the pilot and maybe Brisby land it's all pretty good. And even Brisby isn't that bad, the fricking ending scene with Molotov?
The more Hatred shows up, the lower the season score. He was funny as a faux polite antagonist, but the second he turned ship the show chemistry was all off.
>The more Hatred shows up, the lower the season score
This anon gets it. As if Hatred wasn't unpleasant enough they gave him giant breasts for like 2 seasons on top of it.
I agree and Hatred was probably the reason seasons 4 - 5 where my least favorite. I truly hate his character. When captain sunshine showed up and there was literally two main character pedophiles I was done
Assisted Suicide is definitely my favorite but the first episode I ever saw was the one where the therapist gets killed by a snake or something and I remember laughing so hard at that episode
Watching the dvdrips and seeing the suddenly random Mrs Monarch nips was such a nice surprise. This is why Doc and Jackson are my favorite creators. They go the extra mile every time

I almost wish it ended after s4 and that was it, the ending of s4 was perfect including the Halloween special.
same, shame they said she's never coming back
Why was she never gonna come back? Guess we will never see her train with the master or get with Dean.
>or get with Dean.
I don't know why people obsess over this ending, she was a childhood crush, Dean doesn't even really like or know her.
>Why was she never gonna come back?
The creators said precisely because Dean had grown past her.
She was already too boring for the fourth season. After the guild villains got developed there was no room for teenage drama

No, you’re a poor Chinese person posting on a VPN.

>masterpiece
It’s actually incredibly uneven, have you actually watched the show?
Alright can you give me some similar shows that you would be considered to be top tier?
>Alright can you give me some similar shows that you would be considered to be top tier?
No, but only because your English is so abysmal.
okay so you know you watch garbage but felt the need to shitpost anyway
enjoy the reply
Not quite Chang, use your head here, you’re not making any sense.
No? Unless you think the show getting better and evolving makes it "less even".
>n-no!
I know you’re getting paid to post about the show but really, nobody who’s actually watched the show would call it a “masterpiece”

what if they're ass pennies?
Based fellow boomer
Was he a self insert character?
they both were
yes white is an insert for Doc Hammer
The vast majority of scenes with two characters talking to each other is just those two riffing essentially. The two guys in the guild are the biggest self inserts. They just slowly started making them look like themselves too.
Hope they didn't cancel the movie

What voice was the voice you could do? I was a Monarch voice, whiny naisley son of a b***h.
>Both Monarchs
>21/24
>Colonel Gathers
>Brock (on a stretch)
>Venture Bros
>Red Death
What is the best one off/very minor character and why is it BRICKFROG
>I was the first college radio dj to play Bauhaus
>"What's a Bauhaus?"
That line had always stuck with me
it's "but he was in DEPECHE MODE!" for me
I’m glad it’s getting a send off movie. Hopefully these guys go to work on other stuff besides venture bros

What is your favorite Venture Bros episode?
I think the one I rewatch the most is Assisted Suicide. But my favorite overall is The Invisible Hand of Fate
Escape to the House of Mummies Part 2.
All the actual two part/45 minute episodes are great too.
Assisted Suicide is definitely a top 5.
My favourite is Twenty Years to Midnight.
Powerless in the Face of Death, nothing tops the opening.

>tfw we will never get some kind of prequel type episodes detailing some of the clone deaths
feels bad man, pic related
There's a lot of nudity in the uncensored editions, but it's mostly Doc's penis.
It wasn't real.
For me it's Dr. Z
*eats napkin*
>show finally hits its stride with a new format

for me, it's the invisible hand of fate, or the captain sunshine episode.
