Then continue doing the same at your workplaces, every time a friend leaves to a higher level job, stay in touch and eventually there will be an opportunity for them to get you in.
But this depends on people actually liking you, which depends on your social skills and other social standards. So if you were a friendless quiet loser in university, you're way behind everyone else upon graduation. Now you have to rely on merit alone to get your career started, which is extremely difficult even if you're a highly capable in your field. And if you never make new friends at work, then you'll just be stuck unless you work your ass off 10x harder than everyone else.
This was my experience, I did try to make friends but it's tricky when you have absolutely nothing to relate to most people on, 90% of people were turbo normies (hate the term but gets the point across), with parents buying them BMW's, they were friendly enough but not to the point of being friends. The lack of networking messed me up. Also it's not just merit that you'd need to make a career of it otherwise, there's a huge luck element too as I seen with most people, e.g. entry level positions are limited. Also a few of them had uncles which were in the industry, so there's the whole nepotism angle too. It would be useful if students were informed more about how important networking is, plus you just have to pray to god that your fellow students are socially compatible

If you fantasize about it being your job, work at it as if it was actually your job. It really just comes down to putting in the hours. You'll be complete dogshit at first, but you will slowly improve over time. And your improvement will be much faster than if you spent that time studying or waiting for inspiration to strike. Studying can be good but it's worthless if you don't actually sit down and do the thing from time to time.
I learned and am decent at running/operating and maintaining water treatment plants (Not sewage. Source water for consumption). Currently making decent money and it's a field where they always need operators which means I can always have work.

It sounds trite but often the simplest advice is the smartest. Sam has genius level IQ, I wouldn't dismiss him so readily. I grew up without a father. My mom couldn't teach me how to be a man. I was a 25 year old NEET doing nothing with my life but playing video games. I was smart but unfocused. Sam's advice woke me up. It just means make friends. A couple of them would have ended up getting picked up somewhere nice after graduation and then you'd have a foot in the door o after a couple years gaining experience on your own.
Then continue doing the same at your workplaces, every time a friend leaves to a higher level job, stay in touch and eventually there will be an opportunity for them to get you in.
But this depends on people actually liking you, which depends on your social skills and other social standards. So if you were a friendless quiet loser in university, you're way behind everyone else upon graduation. Now you have to rely on merit alone to get your career started, which is extremely difficult even if you're a highly capable in your field. And if you never make new friends at work, then you'll just be stuck unless you work your ass off 10x harder than everyone else.
This was my experience, I did try to make friends but it's tricky when you have absolutely nothing to relate to most people on, 90% of people were turbo normies (hate the term but gets the point across), with parents buying them BMW's, they were friendly enough but not to the point of being friends. The lack of networking messed me up. Also it's not just merit that you'd need to make a career of it otherwise, there's a huge luck element too as I seen with most people, e.g. entry level positions are limited. Also a few of them had uncles which were in the industry, so there's the whole nepotism angle too. It would be useful if students were informed more about how important networking is, plus you just have to pray to god that your fellow students are socially compatible

If you're doing creative work, stop worrying about "studying art" or finding inspiration/motivation. Just do the work. If you fantasize about it being your job, work at it as if it was actually your job. It really just comes down to putting in the hours. You'll be complete dogshit at first, but you will slowly improve over time. And your improvement will be much faster than if you spent that time studying or waiting for inspiration to strike. Studying can be good but it's worthless if you don't actually sit down and do the thing from time to time.
I learned and am decent at running/operating and maintaining water treatment plants (Not sewage. Source water for consumption). Currently making decent money and it's a field where they always need operators which means I can always have work.
