I watched Carpenter's the Thing after years and then for the first time ever the 2011 remake/prequel. frickin' hell if that shit sucks, only the last two scenes that connect the prequel with the 80s kino are decent.
ok OP i've never seen this movie so i'm gonna give it a watch. But honestly the intro already pissed me off. Guy shooting at the wolf and theres no bullet impacts at all in the snow.
>marathoned >1 movie of normal movie length
Holy shit are zoomers' brains this fried that watching a single film in one sitting is considered a "marathon" to them???
I love the overtaking and flow of language in the original Hawks movie.
There are a couple of scenes like that in the Carpenter film as well. Both are great. I can happily watch both baked or not.
In the Thing, a big part of the situation was that there were only the small group of humans and a few dogs. There weren't any like polar bears or birds that it could take over. And the humans were desperate not to let it get out so that it might get to areas with more life/people. So I was just thinking, in a sequel/remake a setting like a desert, jungle or ship at sea doesn't work unless it's a sub like you said.

sorry, i just came from reddit because of the blackouts. I'm still getting used to the memes of Cinemaphile. like its funny how you guys have filters for onions and tobehonest. anyways give me a couple more months and you'll barely notice that I'm a newbie 🙂
just finished the thing. pretty confusing trying to figure out the whole infection timeline. but the practical effects were kino and have held up after 30 years.
Who would you want as a roommate in the camp? (if they weren't things) Norris or Fuchs seemed pretty chill. Some of the others were pretty high strung or irritable
Right, but that was Windows' job at the base. So he was probably pretty bored with it not working. I guess he could help some of the others and learn their job
It's not a marathon if you watch one fricking movie.
fpbp
think for yourself you freak
WINDOWS BLAST IT!
It's also not underrated. Basically everyone who has seen it loves it.
Please understand, for zoomers to pay attention to anything for more than 30 seconds at a time is a herculean task for them.
>t. newbie
That's a longer marathon than I can handle. You must've thought the movie insisted on itself.
Potheads are pathetic.
DUDE WEED LMAO

You should watch the trilogy. The Thing, Prince of Darkness, and In The Mouth of Madness. They all take place on the same day.
The mouth of madness is amazing just watched, I heard prince of darkness wasnt as good

Greetings normie welcome to Cinemaphile.org. The Thing is the highest rated scifi movie and possibly horror on this site
If you want more 80s practical effects kino watch The Blob (1988) next.

I liked The Blob

DUDE WEED LMFAO
Where else would The Thing concept work aside from the Antarctic? It could only be like in a bunker, space station, or space colony
Uncontacted amazonian tribe
It has to be away from non-human life though. There would be a ton of random life it could absorb in the Amazon
I guess I don't understand your initial question. Just where would paranoia feed specifically on a small group of people? Submarine I guess

8/10, honestly a very solid bait. Compared to the completely uncultured posts in this thread, it's almost completely believable
nice metabait, but that bait was honestly a 3/10 dude. your bait is even worse than his.
Seriously. Go. Back.
>get high
>put on old horror movie
Yup, it's kino time.
I had low expectations but still it's really good.
reddit shut down today so they're all here
Didn't it shut down like last week?

Every homosexual I know thinks it's 10/10 the best horror movie ever just because the special effects are good
Who had the most boring job? Probably Windows since he was barely using the radio
The radio was barely working apparently
Right, but that was Windows' job at the base. So he was probably pretty bored with it not working. I guess he could help some of the others and learn their job
I would never get in a helicopter with windows flying. they wouldn't let that dope smoker palmer fly either
To be honest, the crew wasn't that "all together" from the start of the film...it all seemed pretty boring.
DWEEEWWWWDDWWWEEEEEDDDDD
moronic fricking stoner
