To be fair, Sugar is atrocious at management. Fully 90 percent of the bad decisions she made would not have happened if she had known how to keep it simple and tell people not to go too overcomplex. We need better training pipelines.
Hire fans but don't give them carte blanche on what they do. Allow their expression to elevate the product, but rein them in before they make it "their" product.
In other words: Be professional about it.
It's so wild to me how Sugar was just completely ok with letting her staff run off with her own product, like nothing suggests she ever even tried to put her foot down.
She doesn't have it in her. No management experience plus an extremely sheltered upbringing means she basically never developed the ability to tell people no. She might have it now, but definitely not when SU was running. Great artist, probably a really fun boss, but there's a difference between easy-going and over-lenient.
She actually did once, it was when she told Zuke that her Lapis x Peridot ship wasn't actually compatible with the direction the show was taking long-term and it's what led to those infamous blog posts of Zuke's where she called Sugar and "abusive" boss. What's funny is that it barely even qualifies as putting her foot down, she basically just told a staff member that the long-term plans for the show weren't directly compatible with a ship.
And then they made Lapidot canon anyways. All of the hinting at Amethyst and Peridot died on the vine because they hired a schizo who didn't give a frick about the show in and of itself.
That's karma after what Sugar did to AT, b***h is single-handedly responsible for 2 of the biggest mistakes of the series, bubbline and Flame Princess creation

Anon that simply isn't possible in the current animation pipeline. There's no time or money for the tiny crew to have a real writer's room and story editor and directors for each episode, they hammer out a vague outline with beats each episode needs to hit for the overall plot and let the boarders make an episode all on their own because that's what's cheap enough to compete with slave labor in korea.
OP's idea isn't bad in theory given an example like Sonic Mania off the top of the head, but it absolutely needs some guidelines to follow, which SU obviously lacked.
can someone spoonfeed me a QRD on the Zuke situation? I know she was obnoxiously pushing her lapidot ship into the shows plot but is that all she did? I feel like theres gotta be more to it than that
i think she just slowed down the barn arc with her delusions, then threw a hissy fit when lapis bailed.
there was also something about zuke dating one of the younger girls working on the show; zuke was emotionally draining and a toxic person to her. after their breakup she started pretending to be a dude and idk where she went after that
Yeah, hire them if it's for designs or stuff like that, otherwise stay away if they want to introduce their *creative* concepts into the series.
There are already too many romantic dramas on the market.
Ummm no. Not the type of fans you’re talking about anyway. Fans can’t see the bigger picture. You have to balance wanting to make something really great with understanding how to run a team on budget and on schedule, the realities of the industry, etc. Reminds me of that post where the person said if you’re a young person in the animation industry and execs see you online b***hing about the PPG reboot and TTG there gonna take that as a sign that your not mature enough to work in this business.
Fans will be unable to produce the same quality of work under budget and in a tight schedule with harsh deadlines. I also strongly doubt that they will be capable of working in a proper professional environment and are likely to start crying the second their bosses tell them anything. Frick the fans. Frick fan works. And frick you.
>Hire fans >It gets to their heads >They think they know better than the creator >They pander in the most shameful way trying to make actual fanfics part of the show >They don't use their positions to build a career instead they abuse it for clout >They cause drama on top of drama on top of drana
The guy who made this cup claps his hands when he enters a room and shouts at the top of his lungs how difficult his shit was.
Creative people aren't allowed in the industry because theyre offensive to women.
I could swear BMO's creator called it a boy in that one episode.
Adventure Time referred to BMO with both male and female pronouns.
>Steven Universe does this
>They're all the worst boarders and one of them goes full schizo with her self-insert ship

Better yet hire fans but they don't get credited for their work until they actually prove themselves
cool fanart. could work for a special episode
werent they more friends than fans?

Kinda feel sad/bad for Rebecca here.

What a cute boy..
But then you've gotta pay them, and you pay them badly, and they do bad work

Or what Allen Moore said about artists. It’s the artist job to give the audience what they need, not what they think they want.
Was that drawn by Bleedman?
If it is, that's the second time he did art based on a Glitch show (first was Uzi).
Just. Fire. Hans.
fricking germans
What does Hans and germans have something to do with this thread topic?

how does a robot sweat
it's a coolant leak
they're in dire need of repairs before it becomes serious
