Its mostly edgy for the sake of it to SHOCK and not really play into the idea that it is just how Supers in reality would work. They are beings with great power and not all beings are selfish and many or malevolent out of spite or pure malice the rush of having power over others.

Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't, it can't really find what tone it wants to go for. When Mark gets knocked through the building and can't stop it from collapsing, I thought that was a great addition from the show, adding a human face that he wasn't able to save no matter how desperately he tried. 2 seconds later, Mark is being cartoonishly shoved into a subway train for shock value.
The dialogue adds a lot of swearing, but really isn't improved at all, just more "See? This is for adults!". They really need smarter writing.
I feel that Nolan benefits the most from all of the added detail and stylization of his show. His age, his unnaturally jacked body, his facial expressions that reflect his complicated internal conflicts. All of that gets lost when he's reduced to some streamlined low definition superman with a mustache.

Is getting sent flying by a punch actually a defense mechanism by viltrumites and other flying bricks since it disperses the energy of a punch? That's the only way I can make sense of why some punches blow a hole into someone and some punches don't. The victim just doesn't expect the lethal hit, so they can't disperse the energy.
