Season 1 is Act 1 of 3. Purpose of Act 1 in this serie is to establish the shows main and side characters and give Anne character growth. Episode 1 perfectly sets up the shows themes and Annes character flaws.
Skipping most of Season 1 means you skip Annes slow but stable character growth which is important to a part in the season finale, becaus its a part to one of Annes character arcs.
I won't lie, Season 1 will feel like a filler season. But if you ever revisit the show, you will appreciate season 1 alot more.

My only regret is never watching Amphibia when it was still running. I only started watching like a week before the series finale, and I missed out on so many threads and generals here
