I love MTR because the mother's voice is shego and I have a fetish specifically for shego that seems to work perfectly in the context they use her here, also the animation is kinda soulless but at least it's a good movie, I'm goob
Only coomers like that film, it has no other redeeming value.

Someone needs to get the animation team behind this together to make something else, love the style of this movie.
I know the guy responsible for Dopplers animation did Klaus and you can really see the similarities, good stuff right there.
What really fricks with me about this movie is that Disney hit a home run with it culturally and aesthetically.
This film resonated hard with so many kids and especially young teenagers at the time, that they could have easily turned it into a bigger thing, but they missed the mark completely.
They had the aesthetics fit for an older audience too. Just make a bit more grittier Disney verse for steampunk space pirates, remove the really juvenile jokes and annoying characters Disney wants to force in and you're set.
In a way it's funny or maybe more like tragic that a company that's really trying to appeal to a wider audience, actually misses out on it when they finally have something that does resonate with more people.
I know they were pushing hard for 3D at the time and that would finally appeal to the older wider audience and that's why they didn't give a shit.
But I bet that if Treasure Planet had come out 10 years earlier, they would have gone way further with it.
Incredible film still love it as an adult after rewatching it for the first time since I was a kid. Captain Amelia made me feel funny as a kid and is one of the main reasons I developed a fetish for femdom and women in old military outfits as a young man.
>Mfw liked the cat lady but there was no fanart of her and it took about 15 fricking years after the movie for people to start drawing her.
I have never forgiven artgays for ignoring her. Pretty sure one reason I became artgay myself was so I could draw the damn character and now I make a living as a smut artist.
Did the same, it felt off back then and it's still missing the mark now. It's like nothing about the story sticks the landing, everything is handwaved (the best example are the space whales sequance, dumped the first second they left and completely failing at delivering the grandiose magic such scene should carry), the adventure is barebone, the space setting doesn't matter and the general feeling this thing gave me is that it was nothing more than a project to get animators to go wild testing digital technology. Silver is cool and basically the only reason to watch it since Amelia isn't allowed to do anything.
I think the movie works pretty well for like 3/5th of the way.
Yes it looks like a tech demo in many ways and testing new tech may have been one reason how the directors managed to convince the boss for greenlighting the project, but I think the journey to the planet still flows pretty well.
Then they find the planet and it feels like the whole thing just grinds to a halt and the color scheme goes from interesting to dull shit green.
And we get to enjoy the new wacky robot character too, yeah that's really what we needed for that part of the movie.

I also rewatched this recently.
honestly, the only thing terrible about the film is the relationship between doc and the captain. it's not convincing at all that she would suddenly fall for him. they had zero chemistry.
No. It's a presumption that being fatherless is a prerequisite for liking Treasure Planet which takes the timeless universal adventure story Treasure Island and fills it with daddy issues.
Was this actually a remake of an old 1980s sci-fi flick which was as well a retelling of Treasure Island in space? It actually might had the same name as well.
>Jim Hawkins, John Silver, Dr. Doppler, Captain Amelia, Morph, Mr. Arrow, BEN, Scroop, Sarah Hawkings
To say that Silver overshadows the other characters would be an understament
>"I'm gonna travel the galaxy on a ship with pirates for a huge treasure just to use a portion so my mother can buy a new tavern after the old one burned to the ground"
Weak premise
This guy pisses me off with his silly/non serious personality. Didn't the film already have enough comedic characters with the shapeshifting blob and the BEN robot?
Yeah, the bittersweet ending is perfect
good shit
the alien designs are top tier too
Eisner-era was peak Disney.
it was the last great Disney cartoon film
I think Meet the Robinsons was the last great Disney cartoon film, but if you mean 2D, then you're absolutely correct.
soulless CG animation doesn't count
>soulless

Case in point.
Meet the Robinsons is a great family flick.
Will always be my favorite Disney movie
How do they breathe?
They're in a part of space called the Etherium which has an atmosphere with breathable air.
That's cool I guess.
I used to watch that movie when my dad was around not knowing that I would meet the same fate
literally the last Disney animated movie with soul.

i remember back when i was a kid and bought disney comics all the books had ads for this movie as well as atlantis
still haven't seen either of them
>ruins your comfy kino
Seriously, frick whoever decided this annoying piece of shit had to be shoved in, and frick Martin Short.
Old Ben is a pretty big deal in Treasure Island but I agree he's a really bad translation from the source material.
Are you the anon from last thread ? The one with atlantis posters ? If so, based
Did anyone who loves this movie have a dad?
is that some kind of presumption that being fatherless is a prerequisite for liking treasure island?
No. It's a presumption that being fatherless is a prerequisite for liking Treasure Planet which takes the timeless universal adventure story Treasure Island and fills it with daddy issues.
OK movie. Could've used less children pandering.
>shapeshifting floating blob, personality of scientist character, alien that talks in fart sounds, fast talking robot
Those are all children pandering
Was this actually a remake of an old 1980s sci-fi flick which was as well a retelling of Treasure Island in space? It actually might had the same name as well.
>retelling of Treasure Island in space
only this one

The real Treasure Planet... was the friends we made along the way to Treasure Planet!
Top kino
Not THAT entertaining of a film, i'm afraid.
Would also add that Anastasia is by far one of the best animated romcoms in existence.
>"I'm gonna travel the galaxy on a ship with pirates for a huge treasure just to use a portion so my mother can buy a new tavern after the old one burned to the ground"
Weak premise
they don't know they're pirates you dumbass, that's the premise of the original book
Did, did you watch the movie..?
Disney went downhill after Lilo & Stitch for a while. This was the start of an age of averageness.
Feels like a movie created only for 12-15 years old boys. Not much here for females or adults.
This guy pisses me off with his silly/non serious personality. Didn't the film already have enough comedic characters with the shapeshifting blob and the BEN robot?
