he would need years of physical therapy, wasn't he in a coma for some time or something?

It's in the title. He was out for twenty-eight days.

he would be in a horrible condition even at 28 days. Even a few days can frick you up for a long time.

I think the title meant it was 28 days after the infection got out. The movie implies that it was probably somewhere in the north and it took some time to reach London where Jim was. He might not have been out for the full 28 days.

That being said yes, the premise is very unrealistic. He also would have been covered in feces.

Regarding his Rambo conversion, the infected Jim released (into a dark house with two helpless women) actually did a lot of the work for him.

I suppose he must have fallen into a coma before the infection spread to London (the infection is shown in the beginning that it started in Cambridge), but I always assumed the two events more or less coincided. He certainly can't have been in a coma for months if his limbs still work.

            >the infection is shown in the beginning that it started in Cambridge
I see, I just remembered the people he runs into said it started in smaller villages and since there was a big military presence in Manchester that it had started roughly there. That would have given the infection some days before reaching London and before Jim's accident but I think I was giving the filmmaker's too much credit.

When you truly love someone, you will do anything to protect them. It is a reason, and not a meme...
Which the military guys didn't have, love, they just fugged around, shot zombies, were secured, were horny, and basically bro pranked each other for shits and giggles.
Love and survival will grant you a moronic strength, and Jim had that as leverage.

6 months of physical therapy and great care so he can walk again, but in the film he is walking in london with some discomfort and that is it.

Then he is a ninja that can take out special forces soldiers.

The defining trait of a zombie is that they eat people. The infected in this movie have a virus that infects them with rage. It doesn’t raise them from the dead. Not a zombie film

I just rewatched 28 Weeks Later and it's really dumb. There's barely any zombie stuff in the first half and the zombified dad stalking his kids is dumb. I do like that it showed American soldiers as incompetent psychos though.

Also I want to lick Imogen Poots' face.

It has nothing to do with uttering the word "zombie" it's the fact that zombies are dead, the infected are not dead, just infected.

I'll grant you that there are a ton of stupid plot holes, but it's still a scary and well made movie

I would actually agree to that. The first one wasn't perfect either so it's all fair.

fast zombies will always be stupid, and here's why:

consider the fastest creatures, cheetahs, leopards, antelope. all warm blooded mammalian life forms. then consider reptiles, they can be quick but not keep up any kind of sustained run. your theoretical movie zombie is closer to a reptile than a mammal, no warm heart pumping warm blood. they need to move as such. nothing gets faster when it dies. you want to buff the slow zombie for 15 minutes right after it eats a hot meal? sure, we'll allow it. but fast zombies are logically moronic and should never have been a thing

They're infected people, so they're still mammals and they eventually starve to death.

he still kills like 2 of them and somehow knows the entire layout of the manor, including the rafters that there would have been no way he would have known about beforehand. just complete plot armor bullshit

He kills one moron and with the other he has the element of surprise. Granted, it's unlikely he'd know the layout that well but he had also been there for a fair period of time and seemed to have spent most of the time just running around so maybe he got lucky.

right. people typically only really talk about the first half of the first movie. it completely falls apart too. so it's not that different for the second movie, except the 2nd half is even weaker.

You could argue that the navigational skills that come in handy for a courier job helped him find his way around the house and plan out the attack, but admittedly the final sequence was a beyond what you'd expect from a guy like that, and I question if some Irish wagie would know how to handle a gun that well unless he was former IRA or something.

He has the element of surprise
And uses the infected guy as both a distraction and a means to dispatch several of them
