I've seen people suggest this before but I think it's a reach at best. What makes you think that?

She's subtly abducted in the background by two men who were featured in at Zeiglers' Christmas party in the beginning in one of the last shots of the film. Go back and watch Helena walking off in the background followed quickly by two men. Those two men were at the party in the beginning. It's very subtle but it's there. Why else would Kubrick reuse two featured extras in a scene at the end of the film in an entirely different location and time?

It means that everything and everyone in life has to go through it with eyes wide shut, ignoring everything around them that's just under the surface. Men and women in committed relationships have all these thoughts and desires that they keep from one another and if they shared them would just make things worse. Our world is run by fricked up elites that see us as peasants who are just as fricked up and depraved as any of us. Whether or not they are larping as murderous shadow organizations or just sex crazed degenerates is irrelevant because either way they hold the power to do what they want when they want. The class war is not a war, it's a status quo, and whether you're a hooker in a shitty apartment or a rich doctor invited to swanky parties you're all part of the same shitty system that is never going to change. Every character and scene in the movie is about some inconvenient truth that we all know but all choose to ignore and just carry on with because if we stop to acknowledge it everyone would be fricking miserable 100% of the time. Best to just ignore it and frick to keep our minds off it.
