>Set in Detroit, one of the shittiest cities in America >Despite having a majorly large black population, the main villain is some blonde haired guy.
Never watching it, because I just know they interjected some uninteresting POC characters in there and probably had them overshadow Raylan altogether.
The villain was the only entertaining part of this disaster.
>Set in Detroit, one of the shittiest cities in America >Despite having a majorly large black population, the main villain is some blonde haired guy.
The judge, who sets of one of the main plot arcs, is black, and corrupt.
The white villains friend/associate, is an old, gay, former criminal, who still does crimes, and who can’t pay his bills.
The black female lawyer has questionable morals, and an ex husband who shows up unexpectedly, and spent the couples money leaving them both in debt.
The white villain may be the villain, but he’s also one of the smartest characters in the show.
/misc/ would honestly approve of the way the characters were written.

>Is it really that bad? I was kinda looking forward to this
It's one of those shows that desperately needed a binge watch (even tho Cinemaphile hates that because the discussion can't carry on for months)
If you're a fan of the original Justified, and you're interested in watching this mini-series, be prepared to be severely disappointed. The villain is the only thing that I looked forward to in this series, and even they did him dirty in the end.
winona did indeed hold up amazingly well
on a related not, the twitch streamer and onlythot msfiiire has a resemblance to ava so seeing her pounding herself with 9 inches of dildo is pretty good
I agree about the spoiler. Especially after he made short work of the mobsters in the hospice.
>Justified
I now know that the title is "ironical", as Raylan would say. He can have all the upstanding morals in the world, but when it gets personal, his murders are never Justified.
>Especially after he made short work of the mobsters in the hospice.
Well he was actually trying to kill them. Seemed like he basically suicided by cop at the end
Mansell dies basically the same way in the book, reaching for booze behind a bar and getting shot by Cruz who thinks he's going for a gun. They even had the Raymond Cruz character show up for an episode and tell Raylan about how he shot an unarmed suspect in the past, and he's just describing the ending of the book
>Amy Smart a cute!
All Ray's conquests were a cute, even Stargirl's mom. That's why this fat black b***h pissed off fans.
I know there's an anon out there that agreed with me that an ugly fat black actress looked at this role and should have turned it down based on principle. I heard this b***h already has other roles lined up (in the middle of a Strike).
>Imagine being Raylan in that scene and having to be all like "damn, Carolyn, you frickin' fine, all sexy with your fat body and horrific gorilla’esq face. I would totally have sex with you, both my character and the real me." when all he really wants to do is frick another 16 year Kentuckian harlot old in his hotel room. Like seriously imagine having to be Raylan and not only stand there while Aubobohtoub’cilq’claq flaunts her disgusting body in front of you, the favorable lighting barely concealing her fat rolls and tar black skin, and just sit there, take after take, hour after hour, while she perfected that dance. Not only having to tolerate her monstrous fricking visage but her haughty attitude as your daughter keeps on screaming she's STILL GOT IT and DAMN, Motown Laywers look like *THAT*?? because she’s not the one who has to stand there and watch her mannish fricking gorilla face contort into types of grimaces you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been fricking nothing but a healthy diet of Kentucky blondes and supermodels and later alleged criminals for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the boonies in Harlan County. You've never even seen anything this fricking disgusting before, and now you swear you can taste the sweat that's breaking out on her creased forhead as she sucks in air through her teeth to call you a cracker, smugly assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to get paid to stand there and revel in her "afrocentric (for that is what she calls herself)" beauty, the beauty she worked so hard for with bakeries and cheesecake shops in the previous months. And then the director calls for another take, and you know you could Justifiably kill every single Crowder in this county before the Marshals Service could put you down, but you stand there and endure, because you're fricking US Deputy Marshal Raylin Givins. You're not going to lose your career over this. Just bear it. Hide your face and bear it.

Could they not find a good looking strong black lawyer woman? Someone like Jessica Pearson from Suits. Erica Tazel was a cutie in Justified, that was a good pick.
The propaganda failed this time though it seems. Nobody bought it

how many of the alumni from justified were involved in this show? i see graham yost is listed as executive producer but that can mean literally nothing

They actually got a lot of the old writers back for it. Michael Dinner, VJ Boyd, Chris Provenzano, even Elmore Leonards son. Basically every episode was written by an old writer of the original show. Turns out Graham Yost was the main/sole creative force that made the original work.

i think his and elmore leonard's style gelled perfectly
for those that haven't seen it, yost did sneaky pete on Amazon prime too which while a completely different overall setting with the protagonist being a conman and pulling heists, has a similar small town feel and array of characters that are not unlike something out of justified
Took 7 episodes of garbage so they could pull off that little twist for Raylan's character finally not being "justified" when he kills someone and making him want to retire. And then they instantly tease him coming out of retirement 5 minutes later
Fuuuuck! They should have had an adult Loretta McCready break Boyd out!!
The internet would have exploded. Instead we all know that this spinoff series won't survive the Strike. No more Boyd. Sorry.

Racist incels seethe about this but I don't get it. I'd blow a couple loads into her easily. She's an intelligent, sexy black 40+ lady with an awesome career.
Incels seethe about Olyphant's daughter. She's fine. It's a minor role. What's the problem?

GREAT!
Now we get this white hating fat black b***h down in Florida next season where she can really give a lecture once per episode.
the villian just seemed like they were trying for an edgier boyd, and fell short. Atleast they had the common sense to blue ball us with Boyd breaking out and Raylan being called back in for a "one last time" schtick thing.
I'm with anon (and frick bookgays), this series was maybe 25% Raylan. Which is par for the course if you watched Justified, but the secondary characters this time around were all hot garbage.
It's fun to hear Raylan say "frick", but again it's all out of character.
I just finished The Shield and I loved it. It was such high kino. What should I watch now? How does Justified compare to The Shield? Should I watch it now?

yeah, watch it for sure
the shield is more tense and gritty, and its strength is the focus on the strike team

Well I'm going to sleep now, Cinemaphile, but before I go I wanted to point out that Raylan in OP's pic looks like a slightly less smug version of this smug cat. Good night.
I went in with low expectations and that was good.
None of the interesting side characters and environment that made Justified awesome, the family drama was done badly (and his daughter was not doing great).
Boyd Holbrook and Keith David were good, most of the rest forgettable.
At least the "cameos" in the last episode warmed my heart a bit.
There's a huge split of people that like Raylan doing cool marshal shit like in the original and people that like Raylan in a completely new scenario. Any discussion on Cinemaphile will be pointless because of the cast. Real question is if they have Raylan and Boyd kill each other, I could see them somehow dying together in some sacrificial way
I don't get the hate. It was a solid season and everyone was entertaining, especially Sweety. Raylan is totally baiting Boyd with Ava and her kid though right?
the season essentially boils down to raylan being outwitted at every possible turn and even when he gets his guy, it ain't clean. great, you want to go with the old cop realises he ain't for this world anymore type of thing so leave it at that (which would have been disappointing i guess but if that's their artistic vision, good for them), but to then shoehorn in boyd getting out and teasing raylan answering the call shits all over the entire season and also the absolutely perfect ending for the original show.
i'm annoyed with the ending and i'm annoyed about never delivering really on chemistry and proper discourse with raylan and clement and i'm annoyed about how the majority of side characters are useless so it's a triple whammy of what the frick. i don't know they managed to mess up justified but they did and the frustrating bit is they had all of the necessary parts and STILL dropped the ball
what's wrong with just doing an honest revamp of the justified formula in a new setting

season 1 ava mogs everybody in this image but by the end of the series, she might come last
It's funny how Winona remains hot in all seasons.
She still looks great in Primeval
I looked at the reddit discussion threads for this show and even they were saying their romance was unbelievable and calling her "fat lawyer lady"

She looked fine in the final episode post-timeskip. Obviously not as good as in season 1 but the longer hair definitely suits her more.
she grew gigachad jaw over the seasons
Winona was the hottest Justified babe.
What you mean a 30 year old woman is more attractive than a 38 year old woman? Who could have known!?!?!?
Winona is best girl. By a country mile.
Loretta McCreedy. She should be in her 20s now.
Natalie Zea(Winona) is just an all time beauty who never got a big movie.
She still pretty good looking and she is 46.
She was great in "The Detour". Shame what happened to all their careers
*toilet flush*
if they were going to pick a Black person they could have at least picked as less disgusting one
If they wanted a black chick similar in age to Timothy Olyphant they should've cast Stacey Dash. She's even older than him
Stacey is too white looking which defeats the whole purpose for why the producers made this decision.
It wasn't justified
>It wasn't justified

And now we know.
Took 7 episodes of garbage so they could pull off that little twist for Raylan's character finally not being "justified" when he kills someone and making him want to retire. And then they instantly tease him coming out of retirement 5 minutes later
Made it to episode 4 where he fricks an obese middle aged negress. TV is getting so tiresome.
Yeah she is revolting. Don't open if squeamish.
Spoiler that shit, holy frick.
My bad
WHAT were they THINKING
>what were THEY thinking
I’ve corrected the emphasis in your original post. The answer is now self-evident.
she turned him into raylan gibs
I'm sure Raylan will remember his time in Detroit as a fever dream or a brief episode of delusion.
Jesus christ disgusting
I'd have my pants down for that in a second
It's quite shocking how there was zero chemistry at all, like Boyd and his prison guard girlfriend had a million times more chemistry
Did you see the rack on that chick? Goddamn...
Kentucky Fried BOOBA!
Hot damn, what's her name? The guard uniform hid them pretty well

The villian died a bit too quick but always glad to see Boyd returning.
Hated the niggress and dont see why Givens would frick her.

Boyd is a man of taste.
