Fellowship is the peak. Almost no CGI, tight story, kino friends moments, and no gay ass battle filler. You can tell Fellowship was the passion project and TT and ROTK were just obligatory.

Return of the King without a doubt. Fellowship ending is pretty muted, nothing interesting happens after the Balrog, forest skirmish is underwhelming and is just a mash of shots with no real sense of where everyone is.
