Kennedy talks about Star Wars 10

>We’re 15 years of from The Rise of Skywalker, so we’re kind of post-war, post-First Order, and the Jedi are in disarray. And there’s a lot of discussion around, who are the Jedi, what are they doing, what’s the state of the galaxy – and she’s attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order based on the books from Last Jedi, based on what she promised Luke. So that’s where we’re going. I don’t know if we’ll spend a lot of time in flashbacks or Force Ghosts or things like that, but certainly the spirit of what he represents to her is gonna be significant.”

Why? His idea for a sequel trilogy involved a fantastic journey to the microscopic world of the Whils. The prequels are still garbage. This is a franchise that hasn't released a good movie in over 40 years.

no you Black person, his idea for a sequel trilogy involved trying to fight a sith-run underworld while luke tries to rebuild the jedi, which sounds infinitely cooler than whatever the frick we got from the non-canon disney movies (they don't exist in my mind)

No. Star Wars barely survived his ham-handed prequels. The fact that Disney is an even worse steward of Star Wars than him doesn't absolve him of his crimes.

His prequel stories, characters and canon were fine, kino in fact. His dodgy dialogue is the only thing that can be criticized. Disney has nothing, nada, zilch. They've basically memory holed their own sequel era it's such a nothingburger. But they will mine the ever living frick out of G.L. created eras. But not their own movie era. So what does that say? It's says they know the sequels they made are shit and anything associated with the sequels is going towards one of those infamous Disney tax we rite offs.

First, are they really making a Star Wars X?
If so, this would be incredibly easy to make and be profitable if Disney had a couple of brain cells left which they don't. Even though she is not as young as she was in 2015, Daisy is still lovely. Frick that desert peasant rag they had her wear and give her something which makes her look cute. As for the story, ignore sequels and more importantly sequel characters as much as possible. Frick Oscar Isaac and the stormtrooper. Tell a generic story against an enemy which is not the Sith or the Empire.
Of course, for true Star Wars kino, I would have liked to have Second Great Schism trilogy but that's never going to happen.

        >>Dr. Who
        >didn't it peak with Tennant and has been in a grueling decline since?
It peaked with Tennant but was largely healthy until maybe the 3rd season of Smith. Who has always been lefty-leaning since it was written by socialist Brit writers in its first incarnation and then by champagne left Labour writers after 2009, but to call it "progressive" is to assign it a specifically American political slant that is increasingly being repurposed to disguise "woke" and intersectional-critical Marxist theory.

DC used to be a bastion of middle Americanism which increasingly became social conservatism as the mainstream became more progressive. Part of what killed them was abandoning that to chase Marvel's outright progressive shift in the 90s and then trying to outdo Marvel in being more lefty in the 10s. Both Marvel and DC killed themselves by abandoning their old audiences and future generations of readers.

There's no reason for 40k to be "progressive"/woke but for the creative staff at BL becoming more Americanized and the beancounters running GW swallowing institutional propaganda about how there's a great big blue ocean of new customers out there, you just have to throw out a woke net to catch them. They all think that the old fans will keep buying product even while they move messaging to be ever more woke because of the brand and gameplay.

          Anonymous

The point I was trying to make with 40k is that "progressives" have no tangible reason to invest into that franchise.
The setting is extremely bleak, what they would call "toxic and masculine",
Games Workshop has shown time and time again it's anti-community doctrine.
The actual tabletop game is absurdly expensive and overpriced.

Yet for some reason they insist that they really, really want to play and the biggest problem are the evil neckbeards on internet forums, not the garbage corporate that runs the show.

Fricking urbanite champagne socialists, no wonder they are the first ones up against a wall in a revolution.

            Anonymous

No, I agree. I'm just saying that the gradual wokeificiation of 40k content is being driven from inside the company, not these """"influencers"""" who pretend they'll play if you change your game to be more like them.

              I understand you.
I am just ticked off by "people" crying about "gatekeeping", especially when there are alternatives that align with them much better than whatever they perceive they are being "gatekept" from, yet instead of helping to make something popular they latch on to something already popular just to drag it down

        >As I understand the comics part of their business has collapsed
that has more to do with publishers expecting people to fork out $5 per 20 pages of story a month per series rather than the content each publisher is printing which let us be frank has generally been complete shit with maybe 1-5% exception which people remember rather than the 90% of Dreck they published from 1960 to now

Still trying to blame the mean nasty trolls huh? How do they imagine all this works? Are trolls forming picket lines in front of movie theaters preventing good progressive audiences from watching the film? Are trolls DDoSing streaming platforms to ruin streaming numbers? Are the hate-fans throwing bricks through the windows of [franchise] enjoyers? I'm genuinely asking because I don't understand how they are connecting dots to get an image of trolls somehow causing the financial failure of several big media franchises.

The simplest answer is that these franchises aren't appealing to audiences anymore and thus people have stopped watching. But no, can't admit that.

Winner. The problem is, the people running Disney are old. They grew up when Star Wars was new. Now they are old but they think everyone should still like Star Wars. Sorry, no. I don't like something that my grandfather liked as a child.

I guarantee you that if the CEO of Disney were in his 20's, Disney would have never bought Star Wars. Ask an 8th grader to tell you the name of a character from the new Star Wars trilogy. Maybe they will answer with "Poe" but that's it. Then ask them to name the characters in Avengers Endgame or in Guardians of the Galaxy. I promise you they will quickly name a dozen characters. Star Wars is for oldies like Gen X and millennials. No one else cares about it.

My parents played other Star Wars movies over the summer, but I didn't pay attention. Space movies and space wizards are not for me.
