      >Maybe it's for the bet-
Stfu seriously just shut the frick up. As much as I enjoy shitting on MCU it's still has some good movies. Iron Man 1 and 2 isn't enough. And masses wouldn't give A FRICK about comic books if Whedon's movie wasn't such a success.

That doesn't mean he's a bottomless wellspring of good movies. In fact, by my calculations, we have emptied the wellspring to the bottom and we don't need to keep going back.

Fricking good. Capeshit is a cancerous tumor that choked out the rest of the film industry with its samey overbloated overbudgeted over-CGI'd shit.

        >masses wouldn't give A FRICK about comic books if Whedon's movie wasn't such a success.
They still don't, the MCU did literally nothing to help comic sales. If we're being honest it probably did more harm than good in that space too, because it let executives and creators get lazy by just pointing to the movies and saying "look how popular these characters are!", becoming comfortable putting out dogshit so long as it had the right brand name attached to it.

The masses still don't give a frick about comic books, virtually none of the MCU's success transferred over to the funnybooks.

Good. MCU sucks. Avengers is a shit movie.
        >And masses wouldn't give A FRICK about comic books
They don't. At best they would sneer at comic books and how MCU "elevated the childish source material to actual grown up entertainment".

The Iron Man movie was mostly all adlibbed and made up on set Anon, thats why it worked. Because the actors were allowed to actually act instead of read imitations of what they might say lol

          >The same approach they were already using in the Iron Man movies before Whedon even joined the MCU?

there's far more sincerity and balance in Iron Man 1 compared to later MCU.

and if everyone is Spiderman or Iron Man, then everything becomes monotonous and shit.

I'd wager that Whedon had enough clout to push back a bit and complain about Feige, the whole affair thing and AoU's lesser box office and reception is just a convenient excuse to make look like it's not an ego thing.

I'd wager that Whedon had enough clout to push back a bit and complain about Feige, the whole affair thing and AoU's lesser box office and reception is just a convenient excuse to make look like it's not an ego thing.

After the success of The Avengers, Whedon got named creative director of Phase 2, giving notes on all MCU projects, and already rubbed some people off the wrong way with his abrasive attitude.

Avengers: Age of Ultron also turned out to be a very troubled production, with Whedon clashing with producers frequently. And when the movie underperformed both critically and commercially, he was quick to blame Marvel for its shortcomings, which is Feige's number 1 no-no and the reason even Victoria Alonso got the boot despite being number 3 in the entire Marvel hierarchy.

What did Alonso do that got her shitcanned? Wasn't she in charge of the CG farms?

          Anonymous

She was on thin ice with the higher-ups because she, alongside Latondra Newton who was also canned shortly after, dragged Disney into that Florida thing, but what broke the camel's back was that she was moonlighting as a producer for Amazon.

Seriously I'd have objections too. If he was against Professor Hulk I am 100 percent on his side.

maybe but i meant that norton wanted the movie to be more of a character study whereas marvel wanted more action

The Hulk should be a character study to at least a not insignificant extent.

He really wanted to do the Ang Lee movie again?

Time has really warmed my opinion on that movie. The comic transitions where still weird.

Norton wanted a contemplative Hulk movie and was meddling with the script/directing to move it that direction.

This deleted scene is an example of what he made:

Basically, he wanted to do kino instead of..... whatever the frick modern MCU Hulk is.
