>Kevin Smith
oh wow sex Jokes in Green Arrow. Deadpool has sex a lot more sex jokes. Green Arrow was boring before Kevin Smith took over.
I really like a lot of Smith's movies, but he's an utterly dogshit writer.
>I really like a lot of Smith's movies
Fun fact, the original Clerks was gonna end with one of the main characters dying in a robbery. Corporate interference made it not dogshit.
Why else would you have a mustache?
So how long before gets #MeToo'd?
Why would he?
Going down on a girl is pro-feminist.
Yeah but every comic guy making posts like this turns out to be a sex pest.
Only if they don't push Catradora if Adora does show up.
>Only if they don't push Catradora if Adora does show up.
Adora can show up but not She-Ra, Catra or anyone else from the Princess of Power toy line/SPOP 2018. Unless a legal agreement is reached, of course.
But Mattel owns owns everything media related
Why would that be the case?
Because it's a mess that makes stuff like the whole early Marvel's cinematic rights seem simple by comparison, though it works in a similar way
Laymen terms, the rights to use the She-Ra brand and everything meant to it, always had co-ownership and it's adaptation rights have changed hands with time, while MOTU remains solely on Mattel. With Hordak getting some shared rights privileges, not so different to the deal Disney and Fox got of the Meximoff twins. And that's as far as I'm willing to explain without making a fool of myself for trying to follow the ownership chain.
>Laymen terms, the rights to use the She-Ra brand and everything meant to it, always had co-ownership and it's adaptation rights have changed hands with time, while MOTU remains solely on Mattel.
It seems that Lou Scheimer, President of Filmation, negotiated the TV and film rights to She-Ra when Filmation was co-creating it with Mattel. Mattel retained the toy and comic rights, the latter presumably because they were in the habit of packing mini-comics with the toy figures. The last appearance of She-Ra characters before the 2018 Dreamworks cartoon was when DC Comics had the Masters of the Universe license (Catra, Scorpia and Imp were 1:1 copies of the Filmation models).
Filmation was owned by Westinghouse, which sold it to L'Oreal then fired everyone before the deal closed, leaving the buyer with nothing but the library and any associated rights. That got sold to something called Classic Media, then Dreamworks thought it was worth buying. Dreamworks is a subsidiary of Comcast.
>This makes him look bad
Nah, I enjoy an appropriately awful pun.
It was really good, I thought they couldn't use Adora so the flashback to the baby snatching scene caught me by surprise.
>It was really good, I thought they couldn't use Adora so the flashback to the baby snatching scene caught me by surprise.
Same. I was completely surprised that they animated a flashback to look so much like "The Secret of the Sword", except the angle of Hordak escaping out a palace window convey the sense of a weight in his arms without showing what it is.
>It's good
Fine... I will give it a chance.
It is good. Granted, now three out of the five episodes felt more like "The Skeletor show" this time, but that's hardly a complain. Still with how little hype this one got, and all the backlash from Revelation, I fear the cliffhanger now may never get a resolution.
I get the feeling Revelation and its backlash killed the movie and they just rushed this out due to contractual obligations. CGI is deas too.
>Still with how little hype this one got, and all the backlash from Revelation, I fear the cliffhanger now may never get a resolution.
MotU has been cursed with Horde cliffhangers for a long time (i.e. pic related wasn't the first).
real shame tbh. The show was pretty mid but it grew on me
Techno Fantasy isn't a big genre
RIP Batman
I was looking forward to this getting another season and well...
I mean this show wasn't the best but it was fun and it got my kid into He-man.
Evil-Lynn being angry about bats was one of my favourite scenes in any kids show.
I still can't stand that this one didn't get to continue.
I play that Wayfinder game for the itch 3D Heman left. I think both had the same art designer.
Part 2 should already be finished. Mattel is on a roll with Barbie to females and they want to increase their market to males. Toy sales of the He-Man character himself are being scooped up.
>fear the cliffhanger now may never get a resolution.
Basically tradition for He-man cartoons
>ESL shill is TOTALLY not a shill
What's ESL about his sentence?
Beats me, but he is right about the ESL part, so low key I'm curious what gave away.
Samegay
I was talking about 200x being good you dumb fricking moronic c**t. I even posted the 200x Greyskull. And replied to someone talking about 200x.
Ok Kevin
Kevin Smith has not seen 200x lmao
The He-Man Kevin watched as a teen was the 80''s Filmation cartoon. 200x is a reboot/alternate universe. Tell me if I'm wrong.
If he didn't watch the 200x show when it was on then he is a bigger poser than before. Yes, even before that.
200x never hit the height of popularity 80's He-Man/Kevin Smiths 80's Generation . 200x is a reboot, Revelation and Revolution are continuations of the 80's Filmation series without directly copying or taking Filmations unique expression of He-Man.
Revelations was not specifically written for Gen Y and Gen Z Millenials , it was written as fan service to the now adults who watched the 80's series. The Teela Story Arc came from the 80's series, not from the 200X series.
200x was setting up the same story-line though.
>Revelation and Revolution are continuations of the 80's Filmation series
How is it a continuation when the original series already had He-Man meet She-Ra whereas they never met in Revolution.
they legally can not use She-Ra. Legally they can't call Revelation a sequel. 2002 He-Man is owned by a different company, it is a reboot!. Ther term Netflix used is spiritual continuation of Filmation series. She-Ra is practically in the same legal mess as Spider-Main movie making rights are owned by Sony but Marvel Comics still has merchandising and comic book right to Spider-Man.
what Mattel owns is the names and likenesses they created for the toys. , they don't own the music and storyline for the Filmation series. Sh-Ra was a joint creation between Filmation amd Mattel, currently She-Ra is sold off to Dreamworks.
Speaking as someone that watched 2002 when it was on (and why are you calling it that 200X?), it was... not a good show. Not as bad as New Adventures, but still shockingly poor for its time, and absolutely not a "must-watch" for anyone trying to make a new He-Man show. If anything I'd prefer creators avoid it and focus on Filmation, trying to update that instead of looking at a failed attempt to reboot.
wrong
You are exceptionally wrong.
>why are you calling it that 200X?
Because it ran until 2004?
>it was... not a good show.
No, it was phenomenal. The world-building alone was mind-blowing, and some of the episodes like "Out of the Past" were written unbelievably well.
I just finished 200x and that might have been my favourite episode. It actually made me emotional which I didn't expect. The idea that Grayskull had no power in the beginningwas realy cool I just thought He-man's sword and the castle was always magic.
Were there plans for a season 3? I really wanted to see Evil Lyn bring Hordak back.
>Were there plans for a season 3?
IIRC they were talking about introducing Adora, but then the axe came due to low merch sales.
>low merch sales.
Ah yes, that "Oopsie", merch was selling like cakes, stores asked mattel for more "he-man figures" (they meant more merchandise in general, more characters), but mattel delivered literally more he-man, waves of the same character in different armors killing the line.
Holy shit lmao that's fricking hilarious and makes me extremely mad at the same time
>The idea that Grayskull had no power in the beginningwas realy cool I just thought He-man's sword and the castle was always magic.
You're probably thinking of pic related.
While I was talking about this one. I'm tempted to rewatch it right now.
Ohhh I'm dumb, but that episode was really good too. I can't believe Fisto was Teela's dad. but it weirdly worked somehow.
They were ultimately gonna go with Fisto, but this was obviously Duncan.
The broken arm covering where Fisto had his big fist worked out for them
>ran for multiple seasons
Lots of shows ran for multiple seasons, this is the only one where I see people do that x thing.
>it was phenomenal
ly bad.
It'd be a boring planet if we all had the same taste but man, there's some of them where I wonder how much nostalgia is affecting the calculation, like this, that 3D Voltron, and the 2011 Thundercats.
The 2002 show is very dull. I like some of the designs, but it's not hard to see why it wasn't a major hit given the competition it was up against. I don't think MOTU has ever had a great show, though.
MOTU series are not on any top 10 greatest cartoons lists. Filmation 80's He-Man was very childish and the character had no true dignity to ruin. Adults who are past the age of 46 (my generation) were the kids who originally watched the series. We were the kids that used to love the show but grew out of it in a short time and moved on.
As far as 2002 He-Man, that's not our generations show. By that time most the 80's kids were mostly graduated from high school, going to college, joined the military , or already in the adult work force.
I'll wait for internet clips or someone to post a Mega.
Even though people are saying its good I can't bring myself to watch Revelation so I'll probably never see this because I can't trust Kevin Smith after that. I love MotU though so I'm conflicted.
Its also just 5 episodes not like 3 bad seasons of Star Trek TNG that got good to great for years...
You can watch revolution without watching revelation, you fragile b***h.
It's a direct continuation, you dumb frick.
Everything gets explained via flashbacks or with dialogue, moron.
Doesn't that just wasted time if you've seen Revelation
I don't want Teela's girlboss story flashbacked.
Oh I thought it was better than the fricking Filmation cartoon and had a real story
Problem With Power, Rainbow Warrior, and Dragon’s Quest utterly mog Kevin Smith’s trash.
>I don’t think I’ll watch it
>REEEEE YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT THOUGH
Who’s being fragile here?
>You can watch revolution without watching revelation, you fragile b***h.
That's a pretty stupid way to do it. Just power through the filter of eps 2-4 (which STILL had some good scenes even if the bad stuff overshadowed them) and Revelation is "okay," with Revolution being kino enough to make it worthwhile.
Revelation was exactly what I wanted after living through the Filmation cartoons. Teela didn't replace He-Man either, she got her back story finished and the show gave other characters more screen time. He-Man also comes back by episode 3 as Prince Adam, and he's at full power classic He-Man by the end of Revelation.
I admit hearing all the babies cry over the death if He-Man was hillarious!!!
said the homosexual that cries over cheap marvelslop
Oh god he has a wall of funko pops I never noticed before
On closer look, many of them appear to be... himself? so they may be gifts of different sources, or just for the lols. The ones that are not him are also repeats.
How much of a narcissist do you need to be to have tiny cheap plastic statues of yourself on display in your house. Not even like, one or two of them. But a whole fricking wall.
Honestly, he did acting and it could be just his Silent Bob. But sure you need to have a big ego or narcistic mind to plaster your wall with all your roles and likeness.
So edgy, did you cut yourself while typing that?
Hilarious and original
These shows are full of easter egg references to previous shows.
This. Textbook example of too little, too late. After that shit you pulled Kevin, I'm not watching for anything short of an Arcane-tier quality experience.
It's good. I didn't LOATHE Revelation as much as some, but it was poor and the flaws were glaring flaws.
This is pretty fun. Smith should've made something like this in the first place.
Shut it troony
fairly certain we will get another sequelto this the post cedits hinted to this.
Hahahahaha!
I kneel, Kev. I fricking kneel.
Enjoyed it. Was better than Revelation, also they made Teela look good again
For the character arc after losing He-Mam, Teela needed to appear angry and depressed, so I had no problem with her temporary emo look.
I heard this was coming out but I didn't watch any of it and got ass deep into the original creator Mark Taylor's lore for the characters instead and it was fricking awesome.
>Skeletor was prophecized to be ruler of Castle Greyskull so hid dad threw him into a space time void moat surrounding Castle Greyskullfor 217 years
>He crawls out and the first thinb he does is kill a dragon steals its eyelid and that's where he got his purple hood
>His mother, a powerful sorceress goes mad after witnessing this being her son and nukes his village and kills herself
>Castle Greyskull drains and corrupts anyone near it and inside of it
>The story would be about He-man and the MotUs exploring Greyskull raiding its tech and discovering its secrets, stopping Skeletor from exploring it while trying to resist its life draining and corruption nature and camping outside
>Each floor would have been a different time periods, past and future
>Raiders from different times would appear from the void moat to get to Greyskull too
>Eternia was a highly advanced civilization that collapsed with tribes returning to barbarism, sorcery and some relearning ancient tech
>It was never supposed to be Silly
>He wanted it to feel like a perpetual nightmare but with an undercurrent of hope brought by He-man
>He-Man had a viking hat and a fricking WWII tank turret hat and space boba fett jetpack
I forgot to say I would kill for an adaptation like this.
>He wanted it to feel like a perpetual nightmare but with an undercurrent of hope brought by He-man
reminds me of Berserk
Exactly
Badass. Someone should adapt that.
Don't want to be called like that? Then stop acting like a cartoon will hurt you.
That's not what I said/meant/how I feel. I just don't want to watch shity cartoons
I tried to delete my post because I knew you'd be moronic at me but I was too late.
>consume my product or else you are [insert insult here]
Wow! I am now incredibly motivated to consume this product, given my desire to not be an [insert insult here]. Fellow members of my social group, of which I am a part, let us all consume this product to reinforce this existing social heirarchy. It is very important that you, (which is to say "us," because I am one of you, obviously) tie our social dynamics to the consumption of this product. Otherwise, the [insert insult here] win!
The TMNT crossover in the toys (they have minicomics) is actually pretty great.
Also I'm watching 200x and it's pretty great too. I just got to the Snakeman shit.
Can someone explain me wtf is this
Kevin Smith htes He-Man and became a showrunner and repurposed into his old Death od Superman script. This new show is a follow up to it.
A he-man reboot Cinemaphile shits themselves over for nonsense reasons
Teela has 4 different forms in this not counting flashbacks and all look sexo, definite upgrade.
Someone post all the new designs pls
this
I don't want to give this shit show views even on pirate sites.
She got fixed in Revolution. And got a Snake alt as a compensation too.
That's a nice nod to Teela's origin.
https://battleramblog.com/teela-warrior-goddess-1982/
They probably told him to include it because they released the "Eternian Goddess" action figure when the first episodes of Revelation came out.
The leotard is worn a few minutes into the season, and at the end she wears a new MCU costume that hides her body, and no good scene, no ass shot, you clearly realize that even the animators don't seem to like women I was wondering why the women in this show had a masculine face, muscular body with no feminine curves and fully dressed with dyke vibes, the bad vibes like She-Hulk MCU, then I saw the showrunner and I understood why all the changes, She-Ra and He-Man on Netflix seem to have gay showrunners, a brand made for boys with a gay man producing? the guy is gay? it's no surprise it doesn't work, all these women in Master of the Universe look like Frazetta's women, I think these producers hate Frazetta, why does Netflix choose these people? They don't like the source material
Green Snake Teela is from the very first Mini-Comics that came with the toys. It's an homage to that comic, and there was a special release Green Teela that was least in the past year.
Sounds like a toy commercial then. TOY COMMERCIAL SHOWS BAD -
Nah I'm joking. That would be an incredibly shitty take.
heck yeah I want to buy the toys and I want them to make a Video Game.
A videogame with the original story posted here is my dream:
It's a perfect set up for one.
Disgusting
two men kissing
just a buff as X-Men's Psylocke
Chun Li, the Strongest Woman in the Street Fighter World.
Snake one is the sexiest one, the Havok staff form is pretty cool too.
>Critas hair, skin and necklace.
Kevin Smith can't do a worse She-Ra than Noelle Stevenson.
She-ra makes my mooba hurt in empathy pain after I found out the reason no one in She-ra has breasts is because Noella had a double masectomy.
Hold his söy milk
From what I've heard it seems to moving as far from Revelation as it can. I'm wondering if the subtitle change is even partly so people will think of it as it's own thing not connected to Revelation.
I doubt it, but I also don’t give a shit about Heman.
Alright:
1. Hordak's nurse is totally Adora, right?
2. I thought they weren't allowed to use any She-Ra characters unless they were recycled from Masters of the Universe?
3. Are they going to be compelled to make her a dyke again?
4. What other supposed "restrictions" can they break if this indeed turns out to be the case?
5. Are we really supposed to think Keldor is evil on his own? He was already a slave before his mind was wiped and and when he "gets his memories back" it's a weird hallucination thing.
6. What was even the point of claiming Skeletor was alien demon when the Keldor origin has been his primary origin since at least the late 80's?
7. What the frick even was Motherboard to begin? Just some robot?
8. It's kinda weird that Evil-Lyn made a boner joke and implied her pussy is better than Teela's, right?
Adora is definitely a thing here.
>Are we really supposed to think Keldor is evil on his own? He was already a slave before his mind was wiped and and when he "gets his memories back" it's a weird hallucination thing.
We saw him wanting to conquer eternia before he turned into skelletor in 2 flash backs, he was free of motherboard and the first thing he did was enslave all the royal city people manipulating andra.
>8. It's kinda weird that Evil-Lyn made a boner joke and implied her pussy is better than Teela's, right?
That's Kevin Smith's dialogue for you.
>What the frick even was Motherboard to begin? Just some robot?
Either that or a cyborg, like most orf Hordaks army.
>implied her pussy is better
On top of that, my friends who are actual nerds on the Master of the Universe lore (I am on the side that if wasn't animated, I'm ignorant) keep brining parallels with what Revolution is going for (Revelations not so much) and the DC comics. In any case, they are convince the show is teasing the DC take on She-Ra, and honestly, with this cover and that cliffhanger, I believe it.
>that stolen mcu Ironman torso.
>Are they going to be compelled to make her a dyke again?
Doub it, but we don't know the deal terms, maybe they can use Adora but not She-ra, or She-ra but not Adora so she might get a new secret identity like the comics hint.
There was even a whole comic with Skeletor telling Evil-Lyn his whole backstory in the Skeleton dimension and him having a wife and daughter. Of course he could have been lying but judging from what he said in Revolution he did believe he was a demon Skeleton person.
He also tells Lyn that he gave his daughter to Hordak and at the end of the story it's implied that the story that Skeletor tells to Lyn is true (or he believes it to be true since he sees Lyn as his skeleton wife).
I initially thought if they were going to do Despara that it would be Skeletor's daughter but that seems to not be the case.
It important to remember, no matter the production, plans do change. Either out of the reception for Revelations or just getting greenlight to use She-Ra, there is a chance this was indeed the original canon, but change course on Revolution, with any and all contradictions being retconned with Mind Keltor telling Skelletor "Yeah, that backstory about the Skull man from another world? Hordak's fanfictions for you"
Yeah and that explanation "BTW that interdimensional being thing was fake" was kind of random and lazy. Why would having the rights to She-Ra change it tho?
Mostly because it means having She-Ra as Despara, which means for the few who read those comics now, telling them "don't think about the whole bit of Skelletor having a daughter". Though granted, course correcting with going for the Keltor backstory instead of the interdimensional demon may had been a priority, She-Ra or not, as I have some friends who got really piss about going for the OG origin, rather than the Keltor one. Among all the controversies of Revelation, I wasn't expecting that one to be a priority, but seemingly it was.
I guess because of the family drama potential between Adam, Adora, and Skeletor is probably more interesting than Skeletor being some inter-dimensional being and Despara being his OC daughter.
Skeletor's backstory as Keldor got teased in this season and what little we saw from it it looks like they're taking elements from the DC Comics stuff which makes some sense considering Rob David wrote some of those comics and he was involved with MOTU: Revolution, and if they have the rights to She-Ra (which BTW has anyone heard about the Amazon show?) I can see him wanting to add her into the show and fully bring her in for the third season.
Instead of doing Skeletor and his skeleton waifu and skeleton kid they might do Skeletor, Shadow Weaver and Adora and both Adora and Skeletor just forgot about everything because of Hordak (although they probably won't do that since in the comics Skeletor takes her to Hordak and he and Shadow Weaver both raise Adora and in the show he watches Hordak take her like in the cartoon implying that's the last time he saw Hordak).
>Among all the controversies of Revelation, I wasn't expecting that one to be a priority, but seemingly it was.
Same, I guess MOTUgays really must really like the Keldor=Skeletor origin.
>I guess MOTUgays really must really like the Keldor=Skeletor origin.
I don't. Never have.
Yeah looks like we’re stuck with it. At least they didn’t use Demo Man in this. It would’ve been cool to see how the vintage mini comics would have handled it.
I’m getting the feeling Andrea’s tech bracelet and tongue chips were a swipe at vaxing. With a disastrous result.
Also hate the democracy angle. That’s gotta be Rob David. Everything he touches has to have the “Everyone has the power thing”. It’s getting old already.
I hate that Demo Man shit. Demo Man was never even meant to have anything to do with Skeletor. He's not even green anymore. It's just weird Classics shit.
https://battleramblog.com/no-demo-man-was-not-an-early-skeletor-concept/
Adding democracy to He-Man makes me feel powerless because as I get older the more cynical I feel about voting, as in it feels like my votes don't matter. And this show acts like it's a heroric power fantasy... No He-Man the mythical archetypical hero prevailing against evil in a fantasy Kingdom is what makes people feel powerful.
This art is atrocious
The art is ok. I can understand when you say they are too anime inspired. Or too modern cartoomy.
I didn’t say either of those things. I said atrocious and it is. It’s not anime inspired at all and being “cartoony” has nothing to do with it. The background is a scribble by a moron, the line work looks like an effeminate thirteen year old skipped the “inking” step in which, digital or not, you go back and add uniformity, and the characters are all floating because they’re poorly weighted.
It’s shitty art.
t. An artist.
It would be a decent storyboard under a tight deadline, otherwise it’s genuinely hideous and, again, atrocious.
I meant i could understand your criticism if you said this
>they are too anime inspired. Or too modern cartoony.
Not that you said that.
> t. An artist.
Doesnt matter. Your art could be atrocious too but in your eyes it is better than the Masters one.
I genuinely don’t understand what you’re saying. Either you’re a chatbot or severely ESL. Either way that art is atrocious.
As if my ESLish is that hard to understand. Just because you dont have any arguments doesnt mean you need to move the goalpost. Or try to dismiss my arguments with flinging shit.
Anon I haven’t moved a single goalpost. You brought up anime and something about cartoons.
You haven’t even attempted to explain how you think that art isn’t awful. It’s rushed, unfinished, chicken scratch line work, shitty coloring that looks like it was just flatted/color-blocked and moved on from, the characters aren’t weighted naturally. There is almost nothing beyond the details of the skulls that was given any effort or care and yet all of them look dopey because they’re looking at the reader not each other. It’s terrible, indefensible even.
You try to move the discussion from the art and our different opinions to ESL discussion/insults.
>It’s rushed, unfinished, chicken scratch line work
Which can be that artists style. Or can be said about Jack Kirbys art style too. Do you draw like Alex Ross? There is a difference about “I dislike the artstyle“ or claiming that artstyle is trash.
Flat colors, you are right. But if you are an artist, you can see that the artists draw with different line thicness to get some feel of shading. And detail can be found in the market and the background houses. If i want to insult you, i could question your artistic know how if you dont see that. But i dont think this is the case, just your personal artistic preferences.
>Or can be said about Jack Kirbys art style too
That’s not true at all. Not the least of which because outside of very rare occasions early in his career he never inked his own work. Have you never read a Kirby comic?
Why are you so vociferously defending such lazy, dog shit art?
I am not defending it. I just see that it is well done but in a style that isnt well suited for He-Man in my opinion.
It isn’t well-done though. You sound like the type of moron /ic/ threads who gets told to improve and just falls back on “that’s my (it’s) style though”. It looks like poorly traded, lazily approached webcomic garbage.
>1. Hordak's nurse is totally Adora, right?
Obviously intended. They recreated the 1985 cartoon flashback where he stole her.
>2. I thought they weren't allowed to use any She-Ra characters unless they were recycled from Masters of the Universe?
Seems to be true for TV and movies (which now includes streaming). Filmation retained those rights when co-creating She-Ra with Mattel. This led to a weird situation where Dreamworks (which bought the Filmation library and associated IP rights) had a reboot She-Ra character called Double Trouble even though she was only a Mattel toy, never used on the Filmation cartoon.
In the 2010s before the She-Ra reboot started in 2018, DC Comics's Masters of the Universe let them use Shadow Weaver, Catra and anyone else they wanted.
>3. Are they going to be compelled to make her a dyke again?
Probably not.
>4. What other supposed "restrictions" can they break if this indeed turns out to be the case?
I don't know.
>5. Are we really supposed to think Keldor is evil on his own? He was already a slave before his mind was wiped and and when he "gets his memories back" it's a weird hallucination thing.
Keldor studied under Hordak of his own free will, but too little context is shown to tell if he had evil motives for getting the kingship unjustly denied him.
>6. What was even the point of claiming Skeletor was alien demon when the Keldor origin has been his primary origin since at least the late 80's?
Someone in the writer's room was a Boomer who only liked the slightly early "extra-dimensional demon" backstory and got overruled by negative feedback after it was already done?
>7. What the frick even was Motherboard to begin? Just some robot?
Could be. The only other talking robot seen in-story was Roboto, who needed a copy of human brain patterns (Duncan's), so Motherboard could be the same (but then who was the original brain? Legally not Entrapta wink nudge?)
Apparently the CGI show was also going to introduce Despara before it got canned, also hinted to be Adam's long-lost sister.
Wait the eye popping huy was supposed to be an alien or was that just for the cgi show? I recently found out Zodak in 200x was going to be a grey ayylmao but they made him black instead and I want ayylmaos in MotU now. Mothman, come on you don't even have to change its name, Flatwoods MonsterMan etc.
I always figured Mantenna was meant to be a homage to 50's movie aliens like the Mutant from This Island Earth
and a bit of Invasion of the Saucer Men
I think that is more Modulok. But sure so,e sort of alien.
You can say Skeletor and his Minions are Fantasy or DnD characters.
Hordak and the Horde are Horror movies.
King Hiss and the Snakemen are Conan or Egyptian movies.
And New Adventures Mutants are just Sci-Fi Mutants.
I never realized this I dont know much about the hoard at all. I love when series adapt the universal monsters too. But the new hoard origins toys are hard to find now which sucks.
Anyways here's that Grey Zodak
I think they both were tapping the same sort of alien aesthetic. Mantenna was a butt monkey and Modulok got to be a freaking bass limb swapping bounty hunter.
Going back to Zodak he was originally goinb to be a Bounty Hunter too before the weird space police stuff.
So, question. It's possible that they indeed don't have the rights for She-Ra, but can still use the storyline of Addam long lost sister, introduce her as Despara, and redemption or not, just not transform her to She-Ra, or even use the name Adora? Maybe tease some stuff at the end, but never said them out loud.
The worst part about this is that it's going to feel like subversion or bait switch. Which is...you know...what pissed everyone off in the first place. Even if it's due to a totally different reason and something they legally can't even do.
Completely possible, and probably the legally cleanest way to get Adora back into a He-Man show.
Why was the show canned again?
kids didn't like it
kids didn't buy the toys
everyone either got it confused with the Kevin Smith one and stayed away from it or they saw the CGI and that it was designed more as a "kid show" and avoided it when the fact is it was 100 times better than it had a right to be and was the best MotU cartoon since the original
I didn't get into it, looked really kiddy.
Kevin Smith came to the Netflix lobby and started crying to be renewed. He just laid there crying loudly. When security tried to take him away he cried he was trans and peed himself. After the third day of that brokedown and renewed him another season. You don't want to know what he did for the third.
It was a solid-B show, but the writing was too uneven, and they didn't have enough episodes to really do the storytelling-heavy show they wanted.
And if we're being honest some of the designs were awful, especially He-Man's.
Krass was the best-worst part of the show. Her character had moments of greatness. Her storyline was shite.
>What was even the point of claiming Skeletor was alien demon when the Keldor origin has been his primary origin since at least the late 80's?
Because that was his origin in the filmation cartoon.
Nah
Sexo
what the frick is that dialogue
The power of Ka (Snake form) comes literally from Carnal Desires and strong emotions. So Teela's training on her Serpent form required not only to embrace and control those emotions, but also take them to the surface with some old fashioned girl's jealousy
Evil-Lyn trying to piss off Teela by saying her pussy game is better than hers and that Adam gets an erection from thinking of Lyn.
Something about the power of Ka running on extreme emotions and desire, and Lyn trying to piss off Teela and training her to better handle her emotions.
Oh I'm not watching this because I just pictured Kevin Smith writing this and getting hard
> I just pictured Kevin Smith writing this and getting hard
gay
SEXO
Show us her feet already we know she's barefoot in her snake armor.
>The leotard is worn a few minutes into the season,
The snake outfit took most of the screen-time
Best part of this show was my boy Granamyr showing up. Also Keith David fricking KILLS it as Hordak. Even got the snort right, holy shit. Shatner was also surprisingly good. Godamn the dude can still ham it up. And frick me, Gwyldor shows up too AND butts heads with Orko? Also Ram-man being a fricking boss. And Grizlore and Leech and Mantenna? Jesus Christ.
I mean sure Revelations was fricking weird and that season 1 cliffhanger was garbage, but I haven’t seen a show turn itself around this well since Picard season 3 had Worf chopping guys heads off and the Enterprise-D doing a fricking deathstar run on a Borg Cube.
Everyone who likes this show keeps accidentally making me hate it
They're doing it on purpose just to piss you off specifically, they're out to get you. They shill to make you mad. It gets their peepee hard.
They sound more like bad corpo AI scripts. They can't curse properly or use bad language.
the fake shill enthusiasm makes me want to curbstomp you
You sound like huge homosexual.
Picard season 3 was a piece of shit
Just finished, feels like a completely different show to season 1. Guess they are going the DC route for She-Ra in season 3, I recall liking that story arc. Overall pretty good
I liked it quite a bit. Adam doesn't get a ton of focus but shifting things to Skeletor was the right move. I've never really liked the Keldor/Skeletor origin (and I still think it sucks) and I don't think Skeletor having a hallucinatory identity crisis was the best method of using it, but as fodder toward Skeletor beating the shit out of Hordak I can accept it.
Kevin Smith can't write serious dialogue to save his life. It somehow sounds more juvenile than the filmation series.
For a guy who once claimed dialogue was all he knew how to write, his dialogue is astonishingly poor.
Femishit zogslop just like the first terrible season.
Frick off, shills.
I know we are not supposed to take Clownfish TV, seriously... but given they actually nailed the Revelation spoilers (or, rather, whoever provided them with), how was the case with the Revolution ones?
it was rotten how clownfish spoiled that series. He-Man did not permanently die also, every episode He-Man did appear either in flashbacks, as Prince Adam, and by the end he comes back full powered. Oh and Kevin Smith did partialy apologize only for leaning into them, but they should apologize to him. Frick that rage-click channel!
Frick you and frick Kevin Smith. He should have apologized or sending his remaining fans after them for having the temerity to tell the truth about his lesbionic Teela cartoon
they don't care
the nerd guy refuses to cover it more and the nerd chick just mentioned how little hype there is in comparison to the first part and how much of a gay Kevin Smith is.
>it was rotten how clownfish spoiled that series
eat shit Kevin
Spot on.
Go to be, Smith. You're sounding like a whiny b***h.
Is this comment a joke? Clownfish TV completely got almost everything that happened in the previous seasons of the series wrong!
Will we ever get He-Skeletor? Bane of the Anti-Eternia and savior of the Multiverse?
Not from Crybaby Kevin, at least
Don't let that homosexual Kevin Smith touch that story
I want to see someone do meteorbs
As toys or media?
Probably licenses and too obscure.
Did Bakugan exist at the time?
I have no idea if it existed back than. The anime is from 2007, so i guess Bakugan is made after 2000. But if it existed as a kids toy prior the Bakugan franchise? Dont know.
>But if it existed as a kids toy prior the Bakugan franchise? Dont know.
I mean that the idea existed in Asia for hundred of years, but the franchise could be new or it could be like Ultimate M.U.S.C.L.E where the series (70s) only got attention in the US later (2000s)than the franchise started
Thats a good argument. It could be that they just took an old toy and went the pokemon route. Beyblade and Digimon is from 1999. But for Bakugan only find the anime publishing date.
Meteorbs were taken (legally) from Bandai's tamagoras line, they were originally eggs.
He-Man's final form or whatever is gay as frick and the romance fans have been waiting for for forty years falls short.
Something related to He-Man looks gay?! That's completely unheard of!
I'm not going to watch the Teela show
So I should just watch the 2003 version instead?
I'm watching it right now and it's pretty good action cartoon so far. Im at the snake people season and it went from MotW to a more serial story. They hired all the Canadian voice actors from Beast Wars and the redesigns are great. They kept in PSAs at the end which is hilarious. You should definitively check it out.
Characters are pretty good too. I like the origins they have ans Stinkor was great even. Probably the best He-man animated work. But im not very critical and am just having fun I can see people jusr thinking it's ok or average but frick Im enjoying it a lot.
Mattel has it all on youtube tok might as well check it out.
Four Horsemen who did the designs and tiya went on to do Mythic Legions another toys with fricking amazing designs.
They nostalgia baited me once, not gonna give them a second chance.
Sorry, but I just won't reward bait-and-switches and their creators.
I know, I know, ugh. Good animation, better story.
I just won't.
Have a couple eps still to go but this has been the most pleasant surprise of 2024 for me so far. From the first scene this was exactly what I wanted (and what the show should have been all along), except for the fact that I never wanted Fisto to be dead, and Cringer should have been there more.
It's a damn shame that Culture War bullcrap has made it impossible to discuss the actual show without having to wade through nonsense about Teela being a lesbian and Smith "lying" about what was in the show (neither of which was true). But I guess that's part of being a fan of anything these days. Too many clickbaiters trying to make everything into a battlefield in The Culture Wars.
>Snakemen shit
The high point I'd say.
200x is a heartbreaker for me because there were genuinely good ideas and great art but some of the worst scripts I've ever watched. They could I had to do 2X speed to cringe my way through some of the eps (didn't skip in case there was something important). They couldn't make up their minds if they wanted more serious storytelling like the DCAU, Reboot, or 90s X-Men, or something campy aimed at 10-or-less-year-olds like the original show, and I just could never get into the Frankenstein-monster they made trying to merge them. Looking back it disappoints me as much as Revelations just in different ways.
>Smith "lying" about what was in the show (neither of which was true).
but he did lie
>trailers show the show will be He-Man centric
>gayfish spreads the leaks about He-man dying in the first episode and everything being about Teela
>fans asks if the leaks are true
>sure...not...
>they are true
The man was des for a grand totalnof three episodes. I am not saying those three episodes were gracefully handled, but it was not only obvious that both He-Man and Skelletor would be back sooner than later, but they were barely out. Again, those episodea werent great and the rest of the show still had issues, but the situation was still blown out of proporpotion due to the stupid choice of slipiting the show in two just on the worst cliffhanger possible after the first fake out.
Yeah, no. Clownfish didn't say "He-Man is sidelined for a few eps," there were hyper-specific claims that Smith refuted, like "Andra and Teela are lovers" and "He-Man stepped aside because Teela would do the job better."
It shows how badly Culture Wars rot the brain that anyone later tried to spin the situation as "Clownfish was right, and Smith was lying when he said otherwise!"
Clownfish made something up based on a promo picture and called it a leak, gambling that nobody would call foul.
Alright so you hate culture wars. So can you please shut the frick up about it?
>"He-Man stepped aside because Teela would do the job better."
Literally happened.
>all these anons still mad about the first season
Shame. As crap as Revelation was, Revolution felt like a total 180. They even made Teela feminine again, had her smile, get shy around He--Man etc... It was only 5 episodes too so it felt a bit better paced and action-y than Revelation as well. Overall good.
Teela's final form looks gay as well.
>Revolution felt like a total 180
I was never one to see shills anywhere on Cinemaphile probably because I don't go to Cinemaphile but dear lord every compliment I read sure sounds like one. And it all sounds the same. Even on /toy/. I can't tell if reddit has the same posts because mods shut down the sub for a week lmao
100% this. Not falling for it, not watching.
You are missing out, many people who didn't like first season liked this season.
I’ll take my chances. That first season was way too horrible for me to humor Smith.
Not nearly enough for me to watch.
>many people who didn't like first season liked this season
>Felt like a 180
It was a 180. They course corrected hard because Revelation was that poor received.also Blackrock dropped support for the ESG fund. The issue left was that Kevin Smith is not a good writer and pulling out all the stupid edgy 90s shit he does he still can't write good.
>spoiler
Now THAT sounds neat.
>that spoiler
is there going to be a lower rate of alphabet people and non-whites pandering or the industry is too cucked to dial down?
I’m on the second episode and it kind of feels like parody to me
At least it looks and sounds good
Nothing will top the 2002 show for me though
> no MEGA, torrent or magnet
>He-Man brings the power...of DEMOCRACY to Eternia
Fricking hell, Kevin.
He's american.
I would say to forgive him, but he deserves none.
His mother is an American astronaut.
So she knows how a democratic capitalist is going to be.
It's not like absolute monarchies are a rule in MotU, f.ex in the 2003 version there used to be a council of elders providing the power of Greyskull and presumably doing the actual ruling while King Greyskull did the fighting.
geez
Is it actually good or are you guys memeing again? Does he die in the first 20 minutes again or is it actually about He-Man?
It's about Keldor
Good for queers boys
I don't care to engage with anything by Kevin Smith so I'm just gonna assume this still didn't beat She-Ra as best motu show.
So the lady at the end, is definitely Adora, right?
Seemed like shadow weaver to me.
It was Despara
>So the lady at the end, is definitely Adora, right?
Yes. In the original She-Ra, Hordak raised her under the name Adora and hid the Horde's evil from her. In the 2010s DC Comic (predating Dreamworks She-Ra in 2018), the writers were like "That's dumb: he'd give her a scary name and train her to kill people".
Original Adora was a Force Captain before she left the Horde and DC Adora had her mind manipulated on the regular by Shadow Weaver.
Are the DC comics any good?
The Thundercats crossover is pure fanservice in the best possible way
The overall series isn't entirely consistently good but the highs are really solid
IIRC, it was pretty good, although Teela was pretty annoying early on.
Well Hordak didn't raise her in the original cartoon, she had a caretaker and Shadow Weaver just mind whammies her into being loyal to the Horde.
In the DC one she's called Despara and was raised by Shadow Weaver and a time traveling Skeletor (whose skull became present Skeletor's Havok staff). When regular Skeletor rebels against Jordan and doesn't time travel, Hordak has Skeletor erased from Adora's mind and has her think Hordak is her actual father (which is funny when Teela mentions that how come Adora never questioned why he doesn't look like her, lmao). But Weaver messing with her mind makes her more susceptible to manipulation even though in the end Weaver did love her and tries to save her from Hordak.
Oh boy, here come another hot female to Kevin Smith destroy
Not watching it
Don't care, not watching.
Your loss
I'll live with it.
What’s this about Orko coming back?
Do they fix his eyes?
It was surprisingly pretty good t b h
I'm totally a shill btw
I don't like how she got screwed over. I hope she can be rebuilt. It's like she was suppose to be the big bad but they got the rights tor Hordak
Yeah I liked her personality, being a cold b***h to everyone but melting for Hordak sama.
What the hell happened to Triclops?
He was Motherboard’s second in command.
It felt like the got a season reduction and skipped him and pushed Skelotor to be the final boss again. I can't tell if the veil makes it hotter or not. but she's showing leg and cleave
>What the hell happened to Triclops?
>He was Motherboard’s second in command.
He-Man completely forgets that the tech cult at Snake Mountain exists when he uses the Power Sword to turn Skeletor back into Keldor.
Tri-Klops, Trap Jaw, Whiplash, Clawful, Webstor, Spikor and Two Bad all appear earlier in the show and get forgotten.
Kevin Smith smokes too much weed
There was only 5 episodes anon
>Hordak mask
it's totally Despara who's totally Adora. great, now Kevin Smith can shit all over Princess of Power too. at least she-ra and the gays of power will be spared.
Doubt anyone will touch that show ever again.
Feels like she's suppose to make a tech staff but got dropped
Holy shit, That's pure fricking sex. It's hard to believe they got so BTFOd from season 1. That they changed her from a troony. To an actual woman
Wouldn't that make Teela some sort of troony to woman transexual...?
How old is Teela anyway?
>People call this good animation
This is crappy animation with a lot of post sfx.
The veil that covers he butt seems to be added later since it vanishes in a lot of scenes
The only time she has proper boobs
Sailor Moon shit.
>pretending that He-Man never did that
how is a shitty 80's animation made by closeted gays still more hype
Cause half the appeal was the ritual of saturday morning
He-Man came on weekdays, not Saturday morning.
Oops I'm a 90's kid grandpa
I liked when Kevin Killed He-Man,
i will like it when you have a nice day homosexual
It’s all to do with the audio and background art
While the animation may have been cheaped out on
The audio design in the original series was genuinely great
Kevin Smith is my hero! 80's He-Man is an insult to young kids intelligence and I find it funny how he insulted a whole new generation of babies.
This is the man-babies!! "He-Man died first episode! Waaaah! WahAaa!!" Teela has a temporary emotional phase story arc, her boobs are under her breast plate and got a hair cut! Wasah ! Waah!.
Black person
You're a communist!
die homosexual
I'm not finished but I'm enjoying myself.
I don't care for Cyber-Skeletor's design, but there's something very toyetic about a "cool variant upgraded design" that's just not as cool as the basic model.
I take the show for what it primarily is as a toy commercial with a story line. It takes the silliness and what some fans say as "charm" of the 80's show and tries to grow the emotions up and make the kids cartoon feel less childish,
It felt like with all the different forms characters had it was an intentional reference to how the original show was a toy commercial. Teela had like 5 different appearances. The havok one was on screen form maybe 2 mins total.
When's the part that looks like Secret of the Sword?
Episode 3, during the montage of Skelletor remembering his past as Keldor.
This scene?
With Jesus Christ Superstar?
Yes, but it's more about this part
Like, even if you don't know the reference, is obvious he is taking something with him, and the context clues already point to that being a baby.
Oh
I thought you meant the art style looked like Filmation He-Man from "they animated a flashback to look so much like "The Secret of the Sword"
Hell, now that I look at the two cradles (which I already miss out that there were two to begin with), I also notice how one has the Cringer plushie besides it, the one that got raided has a Unicorn Plushie not so different to Swift Wind.
>notice how one has the Cringer plushie besides it, the one that got raided has a Unicorn Plushie not so different to Swift Wind.
You can feel how much the people behind this want to get the rights to She-Ra/the Sword of Protection/Swift Wind and the rest back.
>When's the part that looks like Secret of the Sword?
6 minutes into Ep 3.
The amount of great voice actors alone made me watch it
So I just finished watching Revelations and Revolutions last night. I watched the first 5 episodes of Revelations when it dropped originally but never went back for the second half of the season. I never watched the original or read the comics.
Honestly I think its fine and while I understand some people b***hing about Adam/He-Man being gone for the first few episodes I really don't get all the insane backlash it got. The writing is for sure the weakest part of the show, mostly due to how little characterization there is for everyone and the very bland use of cliché across the it (both seasons).
The good is the voice acting and when they put the budget in the animation is really nice. I think the designs are ok but get much better in Revolution. I will likely never watch either seasons again as there's really no draw to bring me back.
Revelations: 5/10
Revolution: 6/10
I also watched She-ra recently and its by far the better show, the only aspect it loses on is animation fidelity but the story and characters are just miles ahead of this blandness.
>40 year old beloved pop cultural icon loved by hardcore fans, people who laughee at old memes, etc
>Hyped by saying it's a Filmation sequel
>Hyped with He-man centric trailers
>Hyped by saying Kevin Smith is writing and a superfan
>He-Man MotU fans didn't really like the other Netflix series because it was clearly for a different audience, and very progressive to put it lightly, so they were hyped this was more traditional
>Oops can't be a Filmation sequel
>Oops He-man died in the first episode and now the show focuses on Teela who is the most unlikable person in the universe
>Oops people found tweets and interviews where Kevin Smith said he hates MotU
>Everyone who doesn't like it is a bigot because Teela is a woman and minorities etc the same song and dance we've been doing since The Force Awakens
>The writing and dialogue are bad too
People are just tired of this shit man
by saying Kevin Smith is writing and a superfan
Actually, Kevin Smith saying he was never a MOTU fan is public record. He outright lied about being a fan later on.
It's pretty close to a Filmation sequel, He-Man was "dead" for a fraction of the show and even the eps where he was dead had sizable flashbacks, the talk about him hating it was overblown, and quite a few of the best-known complainers were jumping straight to shit like "Teela's a lesbian" without that being in the show, so yeah the "bigot" shoe fit for some of the guys leading the hate-charge.
I don't even like the first season, but this kind of shit annoys me.
80's He-Man with Gen X is very much a love when child but hated as we grew up thing. It's almost the same as how 60's Batman was loved by kids but then became corny after going back to it. Also looking back at Power Ranges, the High Schoolers thought the show was stupid the year it debuted, but all the little 5 to 10 hear olld kids were going nuts with joy over the damn Power Rangers. God I pray Kevin Smith could do a Power Rangers show and killed them all first episode! Snoogans!
>I really don't get all the insane backlash it got.
That's because you're a moron.
Or maybe he simply isn't an autistic outrage artist, fricko.
She-Ra's problem for me was that the good guys were so bland and there were episodes wasted on characters doing inane shit and having drama over the most stupidest shit. I skipped episodes and even then I found out that I didn't miss anything important and the plot and story went smoothly.
Catra, Scorpa, Shadow Weaver, Entrapta, and Hordak (who got redeemed way too easily IMO) carried the show for me and had the more interesting dynamic and drama.
Also they set up some interesting lore with the First Ones and the Horde that they never get around to which sucked ass. Other than all of what was mentioned and freaking Tung Lashor not using his tongue as a lash it was fine.
Midnight's Edge's review is a goldmine, half way through the fricker literally goes on a political rant and even talks about WEF, lmao
>Midnight's Edge's review is a goldmine, half way through the fricker literally goes on a political rant and even talks about WEF, lmao
The Absolute State of Comics and Cartoons.
You're leaving out context and misrepresenting that video.
>talking about the World Economic Forum while reviewing a children's cartoon show
>context
It's imbeciles like you that made this moronic culture war possible in the fisrt place.
yeah, who would try to influence kids with certain ideologues, that's so weird
It's not like people walk around in giant fur suits or anything
It's less pozzed than the first season, but still pozzed. And the writing is just awful in general.
I wouldn’t go that far
It’s clearly very campy and trying hard to be like the original cartoon
I would’ve preferred a more serious thing like the 2002 version but I really liked how much effort was put into the audio and design of the show, it looks fantastic
I think the writing would’ve been better with double the amount of episodes
You can only do so much in 5 episodes and it probably would’ve worked better as a movie
I love the new old toys so much. they remind me of galidor/bionicle/stikfas because you can swap parts.
Dropped pic
Faker + Roboto?
I liked it. Much better than the first season. A bit too heavy on Skeletor but he's such a fun evil bastard I'm not too annoyed. The democracy thing at the end was weird. Independence day from who? Eternia isn't a colony.
It really needed an extra 2/3 episodes. It felt really rushed.
It needed 10
With 10 I feel like it's going to go in padding territory. The first season had a lot of time with them fricking about in random worlds that didn't moving things forward.
No way, the point of shows is characterisation
Sounds like you just want point A to point B
Skeletor turns in to Godrick the Grafted?
>Motherboard's design
Pls, Kevin Smith, I can only get so erect.
Wtf happened with character design? Did they fire the character designer who insisted on making all women look masculine?
It is hard to believe how much the show improved, it's like it's made by completely different people.
Even Teela's new actress better.
It doesn
The only masculine looking female in the first season was Teela
It's that stupid haircut that I am yet to see a real person use, but character designers insist represent Strong Women. It's not even if they are buff or not, is all in that damn haircut!
>stupid haircut that I am yet to see a real person use
Been seeing it in the streets a lot back when Hunger Games was the shit. In fact, this one time me and my dad went to grab a beer and the waitress wore her hair exactly like it. I remember him looking at her in dismay, going "why on earth would a girl ever do something like this to herself". Great lolz.
That haircut is ok. It just became ridicilous like the goth girls back than!
Dude that haircut was never good
And goth girls are still fine
Jesus
And even that has an in universe excuse, shes supposed to be the royal guard captain, shes a soldier.
>The only masculine looking female in the first season was Teela
Looks like the walked back on that.
Same body type just longer hair and no armor hiding her funbags.
They could be bigger, but that's just the coomer in me talking.
I liked every design for Teela in Revelations, from the more traditional Teela to the shaved hair depressed angry Teela, to the new Sorceress powered Teela.
What a crap, pathetic design
First, she looks like a man, masculine face, she may have muscles but the trick is to put a lot of curves, that's what artists do, but these suits don't understand the basics.
Secondly, where's the classic leotard? Classic toys showing that they are people who are proud of their bodies, aren't those the people who need to work with projects like this one
Is this post a parody? This is incel-core I wasn't even sure exited.
You didn't refute his argument you just stuck two buzzwords together.
"I can't fap to this" is not exactly an argument.
I'm a gay try again homosexual
That artwork, concept, model sheet is an insult to the original artwork, maybe you're LGBT I don't know, but it doesn't matter what you are, if there's something bad and you say it's good the problem is in you, there's an original work and visually this new one, shows bad designs, I myself love muscular women, but in the Frank Cho style, in the realistic style of gymnasts and athletes and in the Frank Frazetta style, the way George Perez draw teenagers in Teen Titans like muscular gymnasts in the 80s. this artwork above doesn't represent any of that and the short hair on the women was never part of the original show/toys, it's something imposed by queers and the result?
Terrible sales of toys from this show, it was a failure, kids didn't buy it, parents didn't buy it and it had a mediocre audience.
The old new story
>men's brand destroyed by queers
IDK man, I think this version of Teela looks beautiful, and I say that as someone who a young boy used to have a huge crush on the original Teela. She's literally THE reason I'm partial to redheads.
I'm the gay* and I agree with the straight guy. Her breasts loik all fricked up like they were trying to shrink them and turn them into a uniboob to desexualize her and her bodyframe is all fricked up and weird.
*For proof Fisto is my husbando but dear god why did they give the hottest guy that name.
women should just look like women you can clearly tell cooperate BS and 'liberal' idealogy was still influcing this shit
I honestly don't see what the big deal is, but ok.
The original concepts and design for Teela was just great and Netflix Teela is a downgrade. I should have mentioned this but I feel the same about most of the designs although there are a small few I like.
Also its based o Mark Taylor's wife which is kinda cute.
Mark Taylor being the guy who came up with He-man at first and designed the world, Greyskull and first batch of characters but he left somewhat early on iirc.
And here's where Teela's snake suit in Revolution came from
>*For proof Fisto is my husbando but dear god why did they give the hottest guy that name.
I am 100% certain that this was a choice made by a gay man in the development team of the toys, who wanted to troll his workplace and the executives on top who had no idea about certain gay sex practices. It is like giving e.g. a guy a feature where he has a gun in his crotch area and you decide to name him "Quickshot"
They were going to make a vehicle where pushing on a plunger causes a wrecking ball to flip forward at enemies and call the Ball Buster. Apparently they went back and changed it to the dinosaur-themed Bashasaurus because at a meeting with the animation studio, Lou Scheimer got so offended he walked away.
Lmao well to be fair, Bashasaurus sounds both awesome and like something you'd see Homer Simpson come up with.
Filmation was LITERALLY the gayest animation studio at the time, hence the colors of their name being rainbow colored. Took me a long time to get that, but as a kid I didn't know gays were a thing until I hit my pre-teens.
>It is like giving e.g. a guy a feature where he has a gun in his crotch area and you decide to name him "Quickshot"
I love shit like this.
I love the new toys because you can make the stupidest gayest shit.
I call him Buzz-Fist and he stings evil with his fist.
Tranformers Megatron had a trigger for a Penis, and his pistol barrel ended up to the right, while the scope became his Fusion Cannon.
forgot pic
To be fair that's a good center of gravity...
I agree. Teela in this when she looks like the og has a “mature” feminine look that’s pretty hot if you’re into that. Most people here like e-girlshit and bimbos
LMAO, who are you trying to fool anon
Not trolling or baiting. I 100% agree with him that old Teela was sexy in a specific way and it’s not in a way most people here like
he's saying new Teela looking like OG Teela
Not OG Teela
This is a man, this is why western games and cartoons suck, Mary Jane and Black Cat is literally a man in the latest Spidey games, the women in Mortal Kombat have become a worldwide joke, in MCU What If all the jokes come from Captain Carter with a man's body, in the 70s and 80s the producers had a beauty model standard, Ann Margret, Kim Novak, Grace Kelly, today the producers have a new model for all western cartoons and games, Dylan Mulvaney
It's not that hard to make women look feminine
That just makes her look bloated.
she looks like a Mexican Chica
Perfect but you know
Trannies will be upset
looks shit, that detailed hand doesn't go with the anime face you tried to give her and warriors don't do eyelashes
at least pretend you're following the artstyle
Detailed hands in females in Anime???? I see it a lot in fighter/warrior type females
>gorilla hand
Teela has the same muscle build as other military /martial arts/warrior females like Cammy, Chun Li and She-Hulk, and Wonder Woman
It’s her face and proportions dude
How are you on Cinemaphile and don’t know about that
Her having muscles isn’t the problem
Dude, she literally had bro-face and men's eyebrows.
just looks like a cartoon female to me
Quoting this for easy comparison
Classic Teela is beautiful no doubt. Classic Wonder Woman had the a similar type of outfit with a leotard. Princess Leia had the slave girl bikini outfit also. I love all those designa but don't need to see females walking around in leotards and bikinis all the time.
Well, there are other characters from other media for you whose core design doesn't involve leotards and bikinis.
He's all over the place on writing and quality but damn does he get in some snu snu. Pretty disappointed on Greyskull Teela
Yeah, the art was great
Even the background art looked awesome
That shot of inside techno grey skull was really good
Were there always this many furries in He-Man?
I totally don't remember the original series being swarming with animal-person peasants.
Not hating just wondering.
Beast Man and his animal people groupies
Mer Man
that bee guy
the snake people
Whiplash lizard dude
etc
yeah pretty much I think.
Yeah but I mean the background character peasants. Every time they go to a village or something I'm going "whoah, like half the citizens are furries. Wait, is that woman's boyfriend a wolf dude? Good for her. Wonder if they'll need to adopt or what."
Some NPCs occasionally (more on the "monster girl" side that straight up furry), I think I remember dwarf villages and the like, but not a lot of furries. Definitely not a lot of mixed populations, commiefornians weren't in charge.
Haha, yeah MOTU has always been full of kinky shit, you get your bdsm suits, hot b***hes and literal cat girl wanting to frick a non anthro cat (no joke, google kittrina motu ).
Did anyone else have the toys growing up? I was born in 1990 but I got Castle Greyskull, Battle Cat, Panthor, and goddamn Roboto and Meteorbs of all things in a yard sale. I never knew what they were even from till the 2000s
What the frick.
Sooo... Preternia (and later Eternia) was rebuilt, but was Orko's race de-extincted or not?
>Sooo... Preternia (and later Eternia) was rebuilt, but was Orko's race de-extincted or not?
Lyn says "the Trollans know I'm here", so either they're alive or she's lying.
The amount of low effort shills in this thread makes it clear the Netflix had to cut their budget for astroturf guerilla marketing.
That foil hat is getting tighter anon.
Watched it today after randomly stumbling over it today. I didn't have it on my radar since I didn't expect Relevation to get a sequel after the shitstorm it caused.
It was alright for what it was, considering it had alot to fix that Relevation fricked up. E.g. Skeletor trying to get back the throne that is rightfully his is a way better motivation than him becoming a god to finally get some pussy because he's a fricking incel.
>to finally get some pussy
That was never his goal, he just fell under Lyn bawdtiness like most non gay man would.
>Netflix intern thinks I’m going to even touch it after that garbage first series
Cute, but no.
It’s worth it for the art alone
It’s a big step up
I stopped watching it after Part 1 with the Skeletor becoming "god" thing.
Honestly the show just doesn't interest me enough to watch beyond that.
The Skele-God change was dramatic and enjoyable.
How do we get her to change into snake Teela again?
That seems to be her new default form, since she can't control havok magic and the blue armor mode needs havic and the power of the sword. So whenever Adam returns the power to the castle, she'll lose the blue armor and the havok staff will go back to Lyn.
this was shit, she-ra is better.
frick of Cinemaphilemblr
I wouldn't say this was shit.
She-Ra WAS better, but it had more episodes, didn't have the baggage of being a direct (sorta) sequel to an 80s show, and Mattel was likely demanding as many toyetic characters as possible in this, whereas Dreamworks let the cast stay to a more manageable size.
Isn't there some kind of law against He-Man and She-Ra having a crossover?
It's mot of a license issue. Think the mess that was Disney and Fox with the X-Men with the Maximoff twins in the middle or whatever is going with Spiderman now. Mattel always had full ownership of MOTU, but the She-Ra Princess of Power line was co-produced with Filmation, and Filmation's part of the ownership now belong to Dreamworks. Hordak, funny enough fall on a similar place as the Maximoff twins I previously mention, as he is a character created in the MOTU toyline, while being part of the Princess of Power franchise.
Assuming they can't get a deal with Dreamworks, what we can assume is that they can still use the plotline of Adam having a long lost sister, who has been kidnapped and raised by Hordak. That much seems to be confirmed. Now, there is a chance she remains purely as Despara in name, and even if she gets a redemption arc, we may not see her transformed into She-Ra or even being referred as Adora, or at least not directly. But that's just speculation. We know they get to tease the sister plotline and use Despara, but that's about it for now.
I can't rmemeber the last time a show made me want to buy some action figures so badly. Hordak looks so fricking cool I can't stand it.
its not Kevin Smith is a cuck im glad Bruce Willis bullied him
Haven't watched either season but I'm just going to assume the 00s show is better, and still holds up as the best incarnation of He-Man
That's fact not an assumption
>That color scheme
Oh so THAT's the Evil-Lyn figure I saw yesterday.
of course
there is a character voiced by Cam Clarke in this though
There's actually a lot of great voice actors in this one
A comprehensive list of He-Man incarnations inferior to the 00s version:
1. New Adventures of He-Man
>gets sent to jail by Skeletor
>almost gets ate by King Hiss
>Tries to get Hordak fails and gets 5 across the eyes and told to get back to the kitchen
I wanted a season 3 just to see her somehow get a better ending cause damn
I like Kevin Smith's MOTUR too much to go to 2002. Nothing is driving me to watch it. I do 't even know where to find a good stream that's legal.
In b4 someone calling you Kevin.
Check out the CGI show though, that's good solid fun.
Revelation and Revolution made He Man characters get a dark mature and drama upgrade via Batman the Animated Series as compared to the Adam West Batman. And I am so great full for such a change!
yeah no
Kevin Smith doesn't do mature
It's fun and hammy but mature is definitely not the description I'd use
I'd reserve that for the 2002 He-Man
>Mature
>2002
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
I get that contrarians like you exist but yes, as far as he-man stories go, 2002 is the most mature and no I don't have nostalgia for it
>as far as he-man stories go, 2002 is the most mature
CGI was considerably more mature, despite being about as mature as Trollhunters.
2002 gave us things like Orko accidentally hatching dragons because he thought they were jugglers' balls and the ep where Skeletor gets put in a vest that tasers him whenever he's evil, and of course he can't stop being evil so he puts He-Man in a vest that tasers him for being good.
I think you are confused about what mature means, you'll get there eventually buddy
>2002 gave us things like Orko accidentally hatching dragons because he thought they were jugglers' balls and the ep where Skeletor gets put in a vest that tasers him whenever he's evil,
Like a lot of He-Man 2002, that whole episode was inspired by Filmation.
>They got fricking Shatner to voice Keldor, alter-ego of a Mark Hamill-voiced Skeletor
I fricking hate how perfect it works. I know it's pure nerdery to make those two the two voices of the character but holy frick does it work well.
Dammit, I kneel. But resentfully.
I legit laughed at the way he said skeletor
Reminds me of kh and xehanort and eraqus originally being nimoy and hammil
>hamill has worked with Nimoy and William Shatner now
Imagine if Gargoyles was in Kingdom Hearts he could have met half the cast of Star Trek TNG.
to be honest I wish the the original series had more girls because most of the updates were cool (they made fricking Gwildor fun), but the extended cast's still a bit of a sausage fest.
Orko and gwildor beong gay for each other made me laugh
Gwildor and Orko were a highlight for me, which is a sentence nobody has ever said before.
Hot take: I think Adora being gay works because any sister of Prince Adam is gonna share his supernatural power to attract bad b***hes
Who cares
Basing your character around “Being gay” is a shit characterisation
Who said anything about basing the character around that?
How did they get away with pic-related?
I thought Revelation strongly hinted Teela was dyke and had no interest in men.
Again, I have no idea how we got here from last season, but I'm glad we did.
Teela herself is more likable, the last season she was constantly angry and arrogant, this Teela is actually self-reflecting and kind
because of the backlash from season 1
Netflix doesn't care about backlash, see season 2 of The Witcher for reference
Netflix doesn't make the shows anon
My own theory that Mattel did not like it intervened
That's just common sense. They're all in it to make money.
Disney is a bizarre outlier. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in a shareholder meeting.
Mattel doesn’t care, they’re throwing a bunch of shit at the wall with their old franchises to see what sticks. They announced revelations with a LA movie in a different continuity AND another show in a different continuity that they ran with the first season of this.
>Mattel doesn’t care, they’re throwing a bunch of shit at the wall with their old franchises to see what sticks.
I don't believe this for a second.
Mattel just released a Barbie movie that was barely a Barbie movie in content was was pretty much a critique of the company. Large media companies nowadays are doing weird shit because they know they can get away with it in the long run because they can just reboot it a year later. Do you think the Warner Brothers that watered down James Gunn’s Scooby Doo would approve Velma?
>How did they get away with pic-related?
Boomer fans were vocally advocating for this romance in social media, while the backlash over the so-called "woke" shit has been off the chart.
Turns out Mattel isn't Disney, and the damage control was at least partly thought through.
Pic related is where the damage control started. It's almost certainly a late insert.
Also, the producer Ted Biaselli is very active among the "boomer fan" demographic.
Oh shit, forgot the pic.
The entire season is damage control.
Stuff like Motherboard getting fridget isn't something that staff of season 1 would have ever done.
Please show me how the staff has changed, because your theories sound made up just so you can keep being angry at someone.
huffing some copium right now
>late insert
Holy frick, you have no idea how long it takes to make an animated show nor that the licence holder has to approve everyting BEFORE it's made, so why the frick would they force costly changes later. You want this "backlash", this imginary power of outrage farmers to be real so much, that you just ignore reality.
To anyone with a functioning brain Teela and Adam were the endgame from day 1 and no outrage bullshit you spew to farm replies can change that.
it is one scene of the final episode and there was 6 month mid-season between the part 1 and 2
>You want this "backlash", this imginary power of outrage farmers to be real so much
Brother, I didn't even hate Teela's "woke hair", I was just there to observe, and there's no doubt that the awkward Teela/Andra dynamic wasn't popular with the 80's show fans, who are Mattel's most loyal customer base.
They're flirting since their first scene on the new show, they've been doing since the 80s, there was no "course correction".
How is Adam/Teela a course correction when that “you died and lied to me” shit people were mad about was clearly because she wanted to frick him?
>so-called "woke"
Frick off.
No matter how many times they're told what woke means they still pretend it's not a thing
They abandoned logic and reason a long time ago. That's how they maintain their own cognitive dissonance.
>I thought Revelation strongly hinted Teela was dyke and had no interest in men.
That was never hinted at. You either didn't watch the show and trusted the outrage tourists or you allowed opinions of others to cloud your reception of what you see with your own eyes. You're an idiot either way.
>what you see with your own eyes
I saw the dykiest dyke haircut that ever came out of dyke town, breasts bound tighter than a FtM (female to mummy), and a thicker frame and muscles than the amazonian from The Last of Us 2 and Teela hate Adam more than /misc/ hates women so it's not hard to assume she's gay just like /misc/ and replaced him with her black best friend. Seriously this haircut is so dykey man like goddamn do you know how lesbionic you have to be to look gay in He-man?! The show with muscle bound Frank Feazetta Arnold Arnold Swaezanwgger ass beefcakes in tight loincloths everyone mocks for being gay with Fistoing butthole jokes for decades. Women are only a fraction of the population. All you have to do is be just add woman and it makes it not feel like a gigantic gay sausage fest. Shw doesn't have to be pretty or coomer shit just literally exist. Adding a woman to Heman and making her look that butch and gay to that degree where everyone thinks the show is even gayer is a fricking catostrophic failure that should be studied by homosexualologists. Cause God damn HOW IS SUCH A THING EVEN POSSIBLE HOW DOES c**t MAKE HEMAN GAYER. LOOK AT IT LOOK AT THIS FRICKING HAIRCUT
>straight white(?) kiss in a modern cartoon
You guys are pulling my leg to make watch the show, aren't you?
>straight white(?) kiss in a modern cartoon
Why the (?)
Is it because they blackwashed Adam's distant ancestor King Grayskull, so by the American one-drop rule...
So is she in love with He-man or Adam?
Teela got 10 power up this season, while she was already stronger than He-Man last season, but the funny thing is... I don't mind?
I don't know why... Think it's just executed better.
I don't care about how much Magic power Teela has, because it''s stupid magic. He-Man has all the super muscle strength power, knows how to use a sword, and the animators gave him martial arts also.
Teela can get whatever she wants. She'll never have the power to be more relevant than He-Man in the eyes of the core consumer and primary consumer of boys toy commercials and action-oriented entertainment: men.
i personally can't stand Kevin Smith
I used to like him, he made some good movies in the nineties.
Now he's just a sad example of what an untreated mental illness does to a person. Everyone around him enabling him might be the saddest part.
what a gay
I can't believe all the shilling itt lmao
Wow, so you want to tell me that when you don't pull a bait and switch and turn everything into some grimdark edgy warhammer40k shit, you can actually make a decent he man cartoon?
Well... CONGRATULATIONS, YOU FRICKING EXECS!
In all honesty though, I like what I see with Revolution. To me this has genuinely a nice balance now tone wise. He Man e.g. curing that child of the nanites in episode two had somehow more soul than lots of the heroics in revelations.
Doesn't hange the fact that Smith is a sad sack of shit and Revelations was utter shit, but I am glad something good came out of it.
Despite its flaws I’d hardly call Revelations “edgy”. The first half was bland as hell in many places due to the premise of “He-man and Skeletor are dead and the magic is gone” though.
Nah, it really had some "edgy" element to it.
What I mean btw is not that I think Revelation was utter grimdark horror or some shit, more like what a 15 year old privileged emo thinks is edgy but does not think about tonally much.
I mena, just to list a few things:
>He Man and Skeletor are dead
>the world is slowly dying because of magic being gone and everyone is miserable
>King has gone semi insane because of grief for his son
>Orko about to die
>Orko legit dies against Scare Glow who is slightly reimagined in this edgelord villain
>Fisto and others die by Skele-Gods hand
>The freaking Motherboard cult in the second episode turning a man and his daughter essentially into Warhammer40k mechanical zombie abominations that feel like something out of your average shitty zombie manga
>Killing the after life
At least those are some examples coming to my mind. It was just... it felt unnecessarily depressing for something that was supposed to just be a 80s saturday morning cartoon with more modern action and common sense among the characters.
Instead it became a try hard edgelord version of He-Man.
Revolution in that regard is actually a pallet cleanser because by the end we get a "happy" instead of a bittrsweet ending.
I have no problem with a dark He-man after reading about Mark Taylor's original idea's for He-man here before the cartoons:
But if you do shouldn't be a sequel or psuedo sequel to the Filmation series or even tonally similar that would accidentally confuse people into thinking it was that.
pretty much my opinion.
It is like.. I don't know. Wanting to create a more "mature" version of MLP:FiM, but you decide to gneuinely turn Fallout Equestria into the proper sequel of that show and promote it to kids and people nostlagic for the old one as such.
Screw FIM. Just do that for My Little Pony in general. Isekai a few of them to modern earth from their old 80's version setting.
>Screw FIM
I wish. I'd rather see them back than these new loser ponies
The G5 MOVIE was great...the tv show is boring AND bad and the were characters mangled ON PURPOSE. They didn't even try to find voice actors that sounded like New Generation's VA's. Hasbro had this done to make G5 bad. They had to "sour the milk to wean the tyke", so to speak. The target audience, LITTLE GIRLS, only care that it's talking equines, and are too young to recognize a shitty show. They will get mom and dad to buy the merch. The middle-aged gay/autistic/just plain WEIRD men that make up the "Bronies" are repulsed by an obviously bad show, and hopefully will stay stuck on G4, and away from any further franchise iterations. As cordial as Hasbro was to them, they were QUICK to get Faust out of there for attracting a legion of weirdos to their IP, and turn the following generation into something so lame and girly ONLY kids could like it.
Or even, you know, do whatever the frick they did with the later seasons, or the timeskip epilogue, or G5 showing everything as having fallen apart eventually.
Half the time it felt like we were watching the imagination of some kid playing with his action figures. Which kinda works.
I don't really know how I feel about the dissolution of the monarchy.
Seems like it came out of left field. Eternia was always an "enlightened" monarchy, so there wasn't any reason to disband it.
Looking after the needs of the people and rebuilding a city seemed like a lot of work. Better to make it someone else’s problem and live in your girlfriend’s house rent free while your arch nemesis is forced to listen to you two bang and shout corny one liners.
teela rebuilt Praeternia, rebuilding Eternos should be a piece of cake in comparison.
>your arch nemesis is forced to listen to you two bang and shout corny one liners.
this was my thought exactly, there are fates worse than death
Titless brown twitterbait girls are my weakness
>prototype teela toy
Which inspired this design for Teela in the DC comics...
Now THAT'S how you design a doll. DAT everything.
>It's Good!
No it's not
Nah
I had a lot of fun with this. Granted, I'm easily to please when there's a bunch of Skeletor in the show.
I can't believe he won
I always had faith in Kevin Smith. He's once of the most important people in the comics related Hollywood business.
Teela and Lyn are so fricking hot
I don't trust Kevin Smith.
You're not even old enough to be alive during the 80's He'Man show.
You got me there. I was born in 88. I'll just mosey on out of here.
>MotU thread went to bump limit
Well done, anons.
Kevin Smith should be happy
>Finish it
>Frick, it was actually really enjoyable
So is this legitimately as
>Season 1 is fricking terrible
>Season 2 was already in the pipeline but things were moving to get changed made
>Season 3 is the "I'm Sorry" course correct
Or is it just shilling and I can safely ignore this? I find the idea of watching a whiny, immature, complete moron of a person like S1 Teela doing a complete heel-face turn and becoming a loving supportive feminine warm motherly fun wife.
Revelations was a single 10-episode series, which Netflix broke into two halves. That was a big mistake because 3 of the first 5 eps had He-Man "dead" so having a big break in between eps created a false sense that the show wouldn't have much He-Man.
They weren't GREAT eps but they came off as way worse than they really were because Netflix decided to break up the show into two halves. Watch it now in one go and it's an iffy 10 eps with some good and some bad, and then you go into Revolution which (so far) has been surprisingly pure kino.
Thanks for the answer
