Prometheus is a movie about the Engineers not Xenos, it explores completely different themes. You could call it a spinoff if you want but NOT AN ALIEN MOVIE. WOW. This film was a breath of fresh air and a great restoration of the Alien universe. The franchise took an early hit in its line of succession with Alien 3, 4, and then somebody had a bright idea of mixing it with Fox's dead franchise, Predator. Well, we know how that went.
Anyway, Prometheus was over hyped and there was a lot of "oh it's a prequel, oh it's not a prequel" talk leading up to its release. Well, I saw the film opening night and I was amazed at how stunning the film was and how philosophical, spiritual, adventurous, captivating the story was. I just recently watched again on bluray and the film is very layered and complex than most people believe. The characters are well developed and have depth. The film is actually both a prequel but not at the same time. It has the same DNA as Alien and it doesn't really connect until the last 30mints but then it doesn't. Confused? Well, that's why you should checkout this syfy masterpiece.
A lot of people complain at how slow the movie was and yet they claim to be Alien fans. Hmmm I guess they never saw the first movie and they don't know Ridley Scott. If your a fan of the Alien Films, especially the first two, and have a great understanding of Greek mythology and have an open mind to asking the question of where we came from then I think you will definitely enjoy this movie like i did.

I read all the books and comics. I know that majority of aliens (with the exception of batman vs aliens.) Humanities weakness or evils is what lets the aliens run rampant. I guess I am just tired of the same plots lines and would like a fresher take on it. Like someone actually developed a method of fighting xenos and the xenos adapt, but noooooo even predators think spears and claws are the best way to kill zenos.Aliens resurrection had the premise, but biffed the execution.
depends how would they evolve. i dont like the approach of games to zergify them with more drone types.
fighting xenos isnt that hard, on open field the would get demolished. thats why i appreciated the book approach as it seemed kinda believable (and that was the only think. alien books are stupid).

I really want to see what peak xeno ecology looks like. If a plant was completely taken over by xenos and some people are sent to crack the planet as the xenos have dug too deep to nuke. What do xenos do when there is nothing left on the planet to harvest? I know it is implied that the dead planets are made by xenos, but what happens before that and where did all the xenos that didn't wait in stasis go?

Prometheus was an 8/10 easy. It had flaws but it explored engaging new ideas and themes, and established Elizabeth Shaw as a capable and motivated heroine, with David as a questionably trustworthy, but equally motivated sidekick. It was Alien Covenant that fricking ruined EVERYTHING.

There's some beautiful landscape shots, but it isn't very Alien. The set, costume, and creature design clashes with the original movie and Giger's artwork. Ridley should have made a Raised by Wolves movie instead.
i dont really care for it being Alien like. the ashen dusty look of everything gave great sense of time. The pyramis by having dulled ages was also excelent. the tech and inside was whatever
