yeah, i like how comfy it is despite the horrible shit happening. the first 30 mins are just a bunch of 20 somethings hanging out in new york
Watch behind the scenes, the music was added in post. They're all dancing on set in silence, it's weird to watch but understandable from a production/ direction point of view.
of coursh
ironically it's one of the few movies where it wouldn't seem out of place if they were to play actual music, the scenes and the music skip around anyway during that part
Sad they never made the sequel that Reeves talked about where he said when the two groups of people stared at each other across the bridge someone on the other side was also filming and that would be where the two films intersected.
It's just unnecessary because there doesn't need to be any explanation for what the monster is besides it just being some alien or thing from the ocean that's pissed off
The monster isn't really the point and it could be swapped out with any other random kaiju, the point is to provide an "on the ground" human perspective of the destruction that's normally brushed off in the average Godzilla film
You have no idea the amount of people badgering the filmmakers for any answers or clues to the movie. The two things that were the most often asked questions
1: Where did the Monster come from
2: did they die in the end
Almost every day for an entire year people were emailing, making Youtube videos, forums dedicated to finding out the answers, it was obsessive.
I love this movie, but it's funny how almost all the main cast died because the lead guy wanted to get back together with his ex girlfriend, including himself & his oneitis.
Normies. Not even once.
>The Zooey Deschanel wannabe dies halfway through the movie
BASED
Maybe the normies thought that making Manic Pixie Dream Girls was enabling the Incel movement, since incels typically self-insert as the awkward, adorkable guy who gets the quirky girl. But, what happens if there is no girl?
I feel like harem anime & college movies also contributed to the whole "the geek always gets the hot girl" mindset.
That rooftop party scene playing "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston is peak 2007

Nah I don't want to watch that. It would ruin everything for me.

So what was the monster anyway
The humans were the real monsters
Deep
Lazy mystery box, the movie.
Absolutely, BUT every subsequent monster movie ripped off the big turtle though

Do any late 2000s Bad Robot ARGs still work?
The ARG was some creepy shit
kino shit
Tell me about the arg

You had to be there
ARGs are neat, but I feel like I've missed out on every single one
>dude we have to go back for the girl
>dude, we seriously have to go back
>no really, we have to save her
>Gets killed in the end
BRAVO
Sad they never made the sequel that Reeves talked about where he said when the two groups of people stared at each other across the bridge someone on the other side was also filming and that would be where the two films intersected.
I just looked up the arg. Read a little summary. Sounds gay and convoluted.
Of course it's convoluted, it's an ARG. It's meant to be nonsensical enough to keep a few thousands people occupied.

that sort of tweeish qt alt girl is outdated now, it hurts bros
they really don't exist anymore.

In my memory she split in half but apparently its wrong and she blows up? I swore she got split in half.

I rewatch this every other year or so. Absoluté cinéma.
Any other disaster kinos from a survivor perspective with no super-human shit? only war of the worlds come to mind
