Haven’t seen it, looks like Netflix slop though. How the hell are they gonna afford literally anything after East Blue without it just looking like complete garbage? Skypia alone is gonna need like the budget of multiple marvel movies to look even ok, and I can’t even imagine how they’re gonna handle Water 7 or anything after that.

      Anonymous

I'm scratching my head how Skypiea would be THAT expensive. Plus they can always change scope. Almost the entire second episode took place in a giant tent, instead of Buggy destroying a town. And it fricking worked.

        >'m scratching my head how Skypiea would be THAT expensive
VFX are super expensive, majority of the budget of S1 went into CG for the fights, now imagine an arc where the fights are even crazier and the environment itself is also crazier.

Smoke machine plus Aztec props in a jungle. One set for angel island one set for upper yard. Enels final fight takes place on a boat. Not too out of the question

            >Smoke machine
morons keep saying this without thinking that there's not a smoke machine big enough in the world to generate the amount necessary, so they will still need CG for the White Sea, and that they'll have to walk on solid clouds as well, which can't be done with a smoke machine because smoke ain't solid, so even more CG

Honestly, I think most people who've tried to adapt manga and anime properties just overthink it.

All the One Piece people did was have faith that what works in the source material will still work in live action and consult the original author. There wasn't anyone going "We need to make it more like Guardians of the Galaxy to make it work!" Like they did for Bebop. They had something that was already popular and did their best adapt it into a different format.

He literally gets into fights with the marines and raids marine bases, what are you even talking about? The first thing he does is knock over a marine base, he gets his bounty for fighting the marines of Cocoyashi village, and the real concern of the bounty system and the world government is not to prevent crime, but to prevent people reaching Laugh Tale. The world government has basically outlawed free exploration anyways so adventuring does pretty much make you a pirate. And then besides Smoker they’re pursued by no one in the government until Water 7 because they literally declare open war against the WG. God you’re stupid

        Anonymous

        >the real concern of the bounty system and the world government is not to prevent crime, but to prevent people reaching Laugh Tale
Never explained or even hinted in the series. Go frick yourself for defending this shit. I could come up with dozens of examples of pirates in the series who were NEVER confirmed to have scuffled with the marines or WG or anything and they still had huge wanted posters.

          Anonymous

How about Smoker’s entire stated motivation of keeping pirates out of the grand line? How about the dozens of times it’s been discussed research into the void century is punishable by death, and the government controlling the seas so they can hide a secret that will destroy them? This all besides the fact that, again, they had raided marine bases and assaulted marine captains before

            Anonymous

Read my post entirely next time before responding. Even IF you agree Luffy deserves his bounty, dozens of other pirates don't. Free sailing on the grand line was never, ever stated to be a crime. Many "pirates" could have called themselves traders.

              >uh wait a minute I…I only meant other pirates which I can name but won’t
Go ahead and name them. Luffy has a bounty from assaulting marine bases and marines, and the story reveals as it goes on that the government is primarily concerned with preventing travel towards the One Piece and discovery of the history of the void century which will destroy the world government

No, frick you, the series never hinted the 2 are linked at ALL.
The government magically puts a bounty on anyone who has a black jolly roger flag. Deal with it.
