Kino of the highest caliber

Why is this film discussed nowhere? It's so fricking good. The best korea has to offer alongside Memories of murder, Oldboy and The handmaiden.

      korean films are soulless
probably because koreans are fake chinese/japanese people who got bloated in the ocean on the swim over yet poseidon allowed them to stay alive if they gave their souls up.

Yes, the film is very beautiful and does a good job of building intrigue and playing with the viewer's expectations. Toward the end it all descended into total darkness, although there were elements of black comedy in the beginning.

Enjoyed this very much, anon. Has anyone seen The Medium? That was also decent tho I liked The Wailing more.

Not Op but i saw both, medium got a bit to far in the last 15 min (after the part with puting out the incense) but other than that was awsome, but i also think wailing was better.
I have soft spot for folklore horror, I ll post some less known of them (culture orgin):
      >No One Gets Out Alive (aztec)
      >Tumbbad (hindi)
      >Incantation (taiwan)
      >Svaha: The Sixth Finger (korea), its more thriller than horror but it have the same atmosphere of folklore beliefs system being more than just a myths.
Post some more good ones if you have them, i didnt post stuff like noroi, ritual ect because theyre pretty well known at this point.

It's good but it was boring for me to watch. Very slow and it leaves way too many questions. I didn't hate it but it was definitely not for me.
I still don't understand the naked dance sequence. Some sort of spiritual shit or what?

The movie is garbage. All characters act dumber than some big-titty bimbo from '80s slasher film. The pacing is all over the place and plot just keeps throwing shit at the viewer, without any attempt of foreshadowing.
I bet you love A24 slop too.

It's also one of my favorite films of that decade.

Most people don't understand Christhomosexualry at the most basic academic level and so the film goes over their heads.

    Everyone was moronic.
    >This guy has pictures of all the victims. Scary, we better leave.
    >What do you mean he burned it all after we left?
    >This girl just killed someone.
    >Psychologs? Psychiatrists? Hospitals, asylums? What do you mean, just let her go, lol.

Yeah, but this one was worse than even the most moronic string-budget slasher.
        >They find the hut.
        >Inside there are pictures of all the victims, before and after their death.
        >They just leave.
        >Act surprised when a few days later they come back and the pictures were burned.
        It goes far beyond
        >Let's go check out this noise outside in the middle of the night.

If I found pictures of suicide victims in a shoe box the first connection I made wouldn't be 'This dude must be magically making them kill themselves'.
The cop reacts like any rational materialist human would.

I'm not talking about magic. I'm talking about the fact, that it's AT LEAST suspicious as frick.
            >shoe box
Bitch, he had walls full of pictures, dozens of people.
They should secure the evidence, not just leave, wtf.

You know you cannot win, right? He's being obtuse on purpose. If you reply, he'll continue his bullshit. If you won't, he'll count this as another """win""".

              Anonymous

              >that it's AT LEAST suspicious as frick.
That's how the cop treats it. But the cop also knows these people are killing themselves. So to a rational human the Jap is at most a sicko voyeur getting off on dead people. He can't make a causative connection to the Jap.
The cop really has to be put through a frick ton of magical bullshit before he starts thinking it might be magical. And by the time he's leaning toward 'holy frick this might actually be spirits and shit' the Jap has had time to burn evidence.

The cop's skepitism is integral to the film and not unrealstic at all. Again think about yourself and how far you'd have to be pushed before you thought 'oh frick this voodoo shit is real'.

because a lot of homosexuals here can't handle shifting tones and films where you have to think along due to autism
shaman death hex scene was easily top tier kino

you're so fricking dumb holy shit
the main theme is existential dread and fear
they were too scared to take the japanese man in and also broke the law by breaking into his place so they couldn't legally do shit
they took the girl to the hospital and it didn't help at all, whole point is her behaviour is in-line with all the other curse victims
the ritual was literally killing her, the shaman was working for the demon - the rituals also don't happen at the same time and the demon is only possessing the japanese man half the time (which is clear in the scene where he cries after running away from the cops)
you are exactly the kind of mouth breathing moron that should stick to letterboxd and capeshit, too dumb to think along

Same. There is an obvious meaning and then there is a hidden meaning. Certain small details don't make sense if you fall for the obvious meaning. Those small details are the bait to further explore.

Really the film is a puzzle if you have the patience.

I've watched this shit twice, I think I've payed enough attention. The white b***h is not he villain. Also there's an extended/deleted scene which practically spells it out for you that it was the two shamans that were doing it. You have to arguments, therefore frick off.

There is no reasonable explanation. But if you're interested in a moronic one, you can discuss it with this anon.

power dynamic at play, they were technically doing illegal shit, without a warrant, so even if they arrest they're in the wrong and the jap has a way out, also the rape is just rumours.
The main guy is already shit scared of the jap because he's haunting his nightmares. The other morons are too shocked to even consider what to do. I forgot when the dog attacks them but there's also the very aggressive dog to consider.
