Back then you still had analog TV. If you had an antenna you'd get CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, PBS, and The WB. Now you can like 50 channels with a digital antenna.
it sucked. ted is a piece of shit, yeah i know he's telling his kids the story and he's making himself look cool and a big shot. i love how the creators had a meltdown when a fan or fans started telling people how the series was going to end. it even made the news. i think this was 2 or 3 seasons before the finale. then it came true.
it was comfy kino. 2005-2014 a glimpse into the final days of sanity for this civilization. Back when guys just wanted to get married to a nice girl and have a family. just guys and girls living it up having fun with friends. It was so innocent, naïve even. Now we live in a post-society hellscape full of goblins and communists.
was this the final lineage of the friends-esque sitcom? its insane how heavy-handed and didactic most comedy shows are now, i blame shit like community
>Back when guys just wanted to get married to a nice girl and have a family >show about a proto-basedboy who looks for "the one" way into his 30s and drops decent girls left and right, because they don't precisely share his delicate feefees on irrelevant minutae of daily life >ends with his wife dropping dead and him finally realizing he should have just married the very first cool girl all along
There's no reason to watch this show aside from NPH's silly quips in first few seasons.
it's descent at first because you like ted barney and marshall but by the end you only really like marshall
ted becomes too whiny and barney starts taking himself too seriously
I'm also mad were never gonna get a porn parody with august ames as robin damn shame
Check'd
Lily is especially awful in that regard, as she is always shown to be in the right or at least in an understandable position
Ted is often enough explicitly shown/told that he is a dick
It was novel in the sense that it had long form storytelling but in a sitcom format, had a married couple who were head over heels for each other, which for millennials wasn't something we were used to, and regularly came up with catchphrases for midwits to latch on to ("Haaaave you met Ted, Legend--wait for it--dary, Slap Bet), the lead actually wanting to get married and settle down seemed romantic and relatable especially as it's from a guy and not a woman (however as the seasons went on, Ted just blazed through women which kind of destroys the idea of him being this sweet guy looking for love), and Robin was hot. It honestly would've been kino had it not been for the last season and the disastrous way they kept to the original ending. Barney and Robin would've made a great couple, but they kept writing them into walls because they wanted to keep Robin available for Ted.
Literally nothing you mentioned was novel at the time the show aired. You sound like some late millenial/early zoomer gay with baby duck syndrome. HIMYM is just recycled Friends with even worse writing.
Only know about this show through a World of Warcraft skit they did but they used generic fantasy music and sound effects and I remember it irritating me because of that.
It was comfy escapism.
HIMYM makes New York feel like a nice place where almost everybody is white and attractive and you can rent a good apartment in a cool neighborhood to have a colorful life where people act like twenty year olds but with upper middle class adult money.
What a fantasy.
Only good at the time because you only had 4 channels
>Only good at the time because you only had 4 channels
What shithole do you live in?

Australia in the 2000s
Never even saw it until it was on Netty
it was just a generic sitcom of its time
Bino kino
man this show was *the* shit in the early 2010s
incredible how they managed to kill all enthusiasm with the last season
>Has Neil Patrick gay in it
trash
>Is the only good character in the show
Has bunch of 40y old people acting like 16y olds
Just your average American adult then?
robin sexo
Robins face is 11/10 and her body is a 5/10 which is a shame

Came here to post this. Zoomers will never know
>zoomer nostalgia has warped anything beyond 2001 into "comfy"
amazing

there are a few bar scenes that have drop dead thots with huge tits sitting in the background.
perfectly forgettable, and I always felt that it came across as super formulaic
The last couple of seasons were trash but it was pretty good before it collapsed
it's descent at first because you like ted barney and marshall but by the end you only really like marshall

Its good and I'm glad they changed the end but I don't how they got away with coping friends so shamelessly
It was alright, it had its moments. The first 2 seasons are by far the best ones.
I think it's keyed
I enjoy it. I rewatch it ever couple years, but with every rewatch I find myself relating to Ted more and more.
These shows all suck
Ted and especially Lily were terrible fucking people.

Very comfy for about four seasons, unwatchable shit quickly after that.

>tfw no chubby Robin gf
It's not bad.
There's a lesbian kissing scene from Buffy with Alyson Hannigan and a girl that looks a little bit like Cobie Smulders.
It was comfy escapism.

Better than Friends
It was a huge cultural phenomenon back in the day. It faded away because of the last season but for a while people were obsessed with it.
