How's the new season? Do they still use the waterphone sound effect every 2 minutes?

It's pretty much the same show as before, but you can tell the researchers have spent time looking for restaurants that will cause the biggest reactions they can

I think you meant the writers spent more time making it as corny as possible

First episode had the "rotten food, raw next to cooked, I'VE EATEN HERE" trifecta
Second episode had the "Who does this guy think he is coming into my kitchen and telling me how to cook?" chef who can't cook
Today's has the lazy Mexican who doesn't know shit about running a restaurant and his hiding the huge debt he's in from his wife

They're running through the show's greatest hits

        >every episode this season does the "SHUT IT DOWN" thing where they send all the customers home
Come on Gordo, you can't just pull that one out every episode.

    >second episode
    >shows that the owners hired their kids
    >they and every other zoomer is shown playing on their phones all show long
    >this waste is never addressed
    >owners never called out on being shit as well as the cooks
    >first episode
    >incompetent owners
    >has former owners trying to run everything
    >this only is addressed in passing
    >spends the entire time complaining about menu size

I don't understand why these shows don't just go all in on the owners being shit every time. Literally every single time a business is failing it's because the owners fricked up either by not paying attention or making shitty mistakes that they can't recover from.

They didn't seem that incompetent, just that they didn't communicate and the parents/prior owners failed to properly pass the baton. Honestly a lot of these episodes need a therapist instead of Gordon. In most cases it's because the owner has some mental defficiency like depression, nacricissim or family rifts like that episode.

    >"Your kitchen's filthy and you're serving moldy food."
    >"Are you saying you're better at this than me?"
Why are the owners so dumb most of the time?

I remember watching the British version and it's night and day. British version feels more like a documentary. American versions feels like you have ADHD with the constant cut-aways, horror movie sound effects, and overdramatization. Wish we had more of the British version but "man yelling while we cut away to unrelated footage of people turning to make it seem as if we captured everyone's reactions at that exact moment" sells more, I guess

I don't get how it sells more. All the feedback I've seen prefers the UK to the US version, and yet they insist on producing the US kitchen nightmares.

Because documentaries are boring for the average audience.
They rather want fake but dramatic shit.

It was funny when they tried to take the formula to the next step with 24 Hours to Hell and Back. They tried to pack in more manufactured drama by setting an arbitrary time limit and also had Gordon do a silly costume every episode.

I only watched the first episode but by maybe like 15-20 minutes from the end, a really LOUD AS FRICK crescendo music started coming in and the lasted for the entire conclusion of the episode.

It was so loud and out of place, felt like a Mogwai or GY!BE track. Really took me out of it.
