It wasn't the same, I'm guessing what made the original kino was the editing. This one felt like some sort of YouTuber series. I didn't even finish it

Uh what? Kitchen Nightmares editing was atrocious, like 1000 cuts with dramatic sound effects and close-ups, how is it even worse now?

It's pretty common that having a family member being fricked up does a good job of scaring the others straight. Just look at how much of an alcoholic Trump's brother was and you'll see why he's a teetotaler.

Of course it failed he's totally out of his element and probably tried to film it like a cooking show without even realizing that's what he was doing. Also I've never even heard about it until this thread, so bad marketing as well.

Gordon has spread himself super thin with shows, frozen goods, his restaurants, social media, etc. He also is a lot older now and the rage he used to have isn't there anymore

Because Ramsay is kind of a dullard when he isn't shitting on something or blowing up in an autistic rage. He's not leading man material.

I always love some of the so called VIPs are literally who's or washed up actors. The episode where Tatum O'Neil was a VIP was the absolute worst. Woman was completely arrogant the entire time along with her two shithead's son. Mind you she was also abusing Cocaine around the time it was filming and hadn't been relevant since the 70s

Nah Marco is an idiot. Brilliant chef, but never got over that Ramsey ended up being the superior, more successful chef.

Hi, Gordon. Have you managed to melt the cheese yet?

        >superior
lol no, Gordon is a TV personality and businessman, not a chef. He seems to be much better at the business side of running a restaurant than the cooking part. Watching Gordon cook and then Marco cook and you can just tell Marco is light years ahead of Ramsay in terms of skill and finesse.

          Anonymous

Gordon's second in command Christina Wilson would smoke Marco. Woman can cook her ass off and her personality makes it that nothing Marco says would get under her skin.

Also Guy Savoy and Eric Rippert are better anyway lets be honest.

Gordon was Marco's apprentice and the latter has mellowed down over the years. But he would still destroy any contendor especially some literal who woman.

Bar rescue perfected the formula and is infinitely more entertaining than most of the previous seasons even. The best kn episodes had owners with over the top personalities and it wasn't like that very often, maybe a few episodes a season got really crazy. Bar rescue is like that 70% of each season and taffer is a better host cause his anger feels more genuine, or at least the illusion hasn't dropped on me yet

The old series suffered from the fact that literally every episode was the same so it gets boring to watch, especially when you watch all the best ones first. This new season was good, although I skipped every season with restaurants owned by non-whites because I’m much too fatigued at this point. Anyway, I appreciated that they tried to be different between episodes, each episode was certainly more unique than the previous series. However, the highs weren’t nearly as high. As another anon said, likely due to the editing. Also likely due to Gordon being more tame because it’s 2024 and everyone is so sensitive and easily offended nowadays so Gordon couldn’t be how he used to be. And both those things resulted in the owners appearing as not as nearly as psychotic or unhinged which also made the series more boring. It was just more real and less reality like the old series.

It felt phoned in, I watched it for the conflicts and for Gordon to shit all over them, but it seems that the people they got this time around weren't entirely hopeless, which makes for less entertainment.

He wanted to make it more like the UK version, which a lot more about actual cooking and helping people. Was also way less heavily edited.

  21. 3 months ago
    Anonymous

It was rushed, bare minimum effort bullshit.
    Everyone phoned it in.
I'm guessing the budget was a lot lower and nobody was getting paid much and they didn't have enough time there to really get a story going at each place.

It's much more mellow and focused more on interpersonal drama than it was awful service and terrible food.

Kitchen Nightmare's fans want to see Gordon rip into delusional owners and staff and then pick them up and show them how to do it. They wanted to get more of a friendly vibe that Gen Z and women would find comforting.

Not to mention focusing on restaraunts solely in the New York City area was a terrible decision even if it lowered production costs.
