Why is this boring fricking shit doing so well in box office.
I watched the trilogy trying to understand what normalgays like about it, but it was just the blandest fricking slop, dull, grey, mediocre drama, i guess the special effects were good
I really like the very first Planet of the Apes film, it is definitely a classic and is a stylish pulpy sci-fi. But this new stuff is just so fricking boring. No vision, no style, just basic box checking in terms of drama, action, themes.
Burton's remake was pure moronation but at least it was it's own thing. This is uninteresting studio assembled filmmaking.
Dawn is a truly amazing movie with two ape performances that rival any human performance. There are whole parts of Dawn just world building that Apes community with no humans and it is so effective.
War is really good and is only hurt by not being as good as Dawn. But the villain in Dawn just couldn't be topped.
It's all just a nice take on the whole Planet of the Apes universe. Something that can be connected to the original movie while also being its own thing.
I just couldn't make myself be engaged with those films. They felt way too calculated and just nothing special in terms of the filmmaking itself outside of the quality CGI work. Having a decent story is not enough for me, it needs to be wrapped up into something interesting.
I genuinely do not know how you can watch Rise and say that, especially with all the other kinds of garbage that come out from Hollywood. The arc Caesar has in that movie is very well done and the premise is handled wonderfully.
>Rise is good but goofy
It's still the best out of all of them, and is probably one of the best made Hollywood movies of the last 20 years. It's almost a perfect movie, Franco is the weakest part.
I'd rank them the same but I'd put a little more respect on Rise. War is a genuinely great science fiction and action movie and the standout of the three, though.
WHOOPSIE I meant Dawn not War. War had its moments but there's a clear gap between it and the two previous films. The worst part about these movies is the damn naming convention.

first of all there's an avg rating on tomatoes too. And second how can you not understand the simple point of the % thing? If a movie has high % from the critics it means it resonates with a variety of them. It's not just a movie for the specific crowd. Despite /misc/pular opinion, critics are not all the same - paid by cia, israeli, woke globohomo, also probably trannies, satanists and pedophiles
Not surprising as these movies are actually decently written and take themselves seriously despite the ludicrous setting, not filled with “well so that just happened” marvel humor homosexualry. That has infested the rest of Hollywood these past few years.
I think I saw Rise when it came out but can't really remember much and I watched the first half of Kingdom but had to leave cause of a headache and yeah the visual effects are great but the story really didn't capture me. I'll probably try watch them all when Kingdom comes out on streaming,
I can’t understand why these movies ever did well. It’s all basically human struggles and stories but apes. What’s the appeal? Why would any human want the human race to lose to a bunch of damn dirty apes?
MY homie YOU WATCHIN A FRICKIN MOVIE A SERIOUS ASS MUTHAFRICKIN MOVIE ABOUT MUTHAFRICKIN MONKEYS HAVIN BATTLES ON HORSEBACK AND SHIT?! YOU A GROWN ASS MAN WATCHIN MUTHAFRICKIN CHIMPANZEES DELIVER MONOLOGUES?!
I literally finished watching the original 1968 film 30 minutes ago. Gonna get started on the new series soon. The original was pretty awesome, like a mix of pure kino and B-movie schlock. The town set they built was incredible.
You guys are a bunch of blowhards. You spend all day bloviating about how modern films are terrible and when one decent trilogy sneaks through you have to be overly critical of it to save face.
>they hate my monkey movies because they're trying to be cool!
Nah man, I hate em because they're monkey movies about talking monkeys. Grow up. Respect yourself.
I ignored them for years when they first came out. It wasn't until the trilogy was done that I was convinced to actually watch them, and I went in with zero expectations. They're a prequel spin-off trilogy to Planet of the Apes. Just saying that sentence pegs them at almost 0% chance of being decent, and yet somehow they produced three solid movies, with one of them (Dawn) being a legitimately excellent sci-fi story. They've just got no business being as good as they are, and I understand why someone who's tired of cash-grabs and sick of everything being a franchise or a spin-off or a prequel or a tie-in would just automatically filter them out.
I am flabbergasted that the first two, at least, ended up as anything but CGI trash, let alone actually being good.
I’ve watched the first of the originals as they’re on D+. I always forget how much better old sci fi films are without all the CGI. I’d never seen the originals despite being 37. I always thought they looked a bit camp. Which they are in fairness, but also very enjoyable. I guess The Simpson’s joke didn’t help with that perception either.

Rise is good, but a little goofy.

Ass bandit redditors actually believe this
>Rise is good but goofy

Agreed, people really sleep on Rise. The pacing and escalation is second-to-none.

Anon Sama
because it's the only real movie, everything else is woke troony slop
It's capeshit.
It's good cape shit.
Hi Adum! Frick and dogs lately?
Filtered
I thought these movies would be dumb as frick, but I enjoyed them. I am a fan of the planet of the apes cinematic universe.
Kingdom was utter shit, 82% is just silly.
Not even close to Rise.
you know it doesn't mean 82/100 rating?
So what is it out of?
It's a shit system really. It's 82% (out of 100) approval, but could be 82% of critics giving it thumbs up but calling it a watchable 6/10
SAME SHIT EVERY FRICKING TIME
you never learn, you're so fricking stupid

it's how many critics rated it
>at least rather good
PERHAPS they shouldn't put % on them, then.
It's the percentage of critics who give the movie a positive score. A positive score being anything higher than a 5/10 in most cases.
It deserves it, too. It’s fricking great.

War is NOT the best one.
THEY MONKE
>Chimps live about 40 years
If humans can deal with the virus, their longer lifespans are a huge advantage.
They also grow up quicker though, so they can be useful from an earlier age
Reddit franchise, I gave up on it after the 2nd movie.
>the only good one is Rise has the 3rd lowest score
Hmmm
I bet the next one will be called Empire of the Planet of the Apes
I think I saw Rise when it came out but can't really remember much and I watched the first half of Kingdom but had to leave cause of a headache and yeah the visual effects are great but the story really didn't capture me. I'll probably try watch them all when Kingdom comes out on streaming,
>the villain of the new one is just immortan joe mixed with king louie
based or cringe
These movies are aggressively mid, high rt score just means most people don't hate it.
I can’t understand why these movies ever did well. It’s all basically human struggles and stories but apes. What’s the appeal? Why would any human want the human race to lose to a bunch of damn dirty apes?
Turns out, perspectivism is everything.

I'd rather watch this than whatever shit hollywood is churning out with their "diverse" actors.
>I hate every ape I see, from chimpan A to chimpan Z
Frick all of you
i can't believe you gays liked Dawn that much, it was so boring
