TSMT, this shouldn't even count as "faux flash game" just straight up zoomer homosexualry posing as something they probably weren't even around to experience. (Bugbo does this so much better btw)
>thinks flash games weren't all the rage among Zoomers
WHAT THE FRICK IS A ZOOMER, ANYMORE?
how old are the supposed to be in your imagination? Are they teens, are they children, what the frick?
was gonna say this. bugbo actually looks like something out of its supposed time period, this "Lacey" art ignites my autism rage so badly because the art looks nothing like 2000s' flash games EVER did. it's such a blatantly 2020s art style.
Y'know, since trying to emulate every piece of media made before 2016 is the 'it thing' right now, I thought there'd be more Zoomers picking up Flash to appear low-tech and cool. There's still a lot of Actionscript resources on Newgrounds if you ask around in the Game Dev forum.
Flash can still use bitmap images to act as spritesheets and was sometimes preferable depending on how optimized you were with them. I've been replaying some games on Flashpoint, and it seems reasonable to assume that the backgrounds and sprites in some games were done in an external program and then imported into Flash. I'm willing to suspend my disbelief for Lacey just for that.
Also the guy making this has another cartoon, no? Why isn't everyone fawning over this one? It's waaaaaaay more interesting and cute.
my excuse is I'm not trend following cattle and I don't intend to make another homosexual youtube horror series for trannies when I could spend time making something I actually like.
i'd like to try using flash someday. i've heard it can be a pain to use but it can't be any worse than some other obsolete software i've played around with before.

There's definitely a steep learning curve if you want to code anything more complicated than dress-up game but I think it's easy once you jump that hurdle.
Flash may have disappeared, but I'm starting to miss the days when it was still around and I wished we have more stuff like those these days.
The reason I love Flash content so much was because of how they were made. The fact that they combine interactivity with whatever format is on (and sometimes each other formats) was such a cool and fun experience. I even made a few of them, but never really publicly uploaded them.
I don't mind seeing many of them getting converted to mp4 (or whatever is the current video player that is being used now), but most of them just feel more like standard Youtube videos without the fun parts; boring and soulless.
The closest thing to a modern Flash content that I could find was a Doug interactive parody on Newgrounds. Everything else just look like typical web videos with nothing cool added to them.
Even without Flash, there's still plenty of other similar softwares to use but the only problem is that nobody wants to make Flash-like stuff anymore.
The point-and-click horror game part is aesthetically on point, I'm sure I've wandered around in a house like that and found a key by clicking on the jar of eyeballs in the fridge or whatever. It wasn't scary back then either though.
I like the concept but this art style doesn't look anything like it came out of the 2000s. In facts it's painfully late 2010s and completely takes you out or it. I Can't Sleep does an amazing job replicating the style of something from their 00s so it's clearly not possible to replicate either, or feels like the creator barely tried here.
Yeah I agree with these, it totally removes you from the tone it's trying to go for because it doesn't look like anything that would have come out at the time. The faux anime look it's going for is something that was already run through several cycles of incestuous Western parody, while the faux anime look of the 2000s was basically just kids trying to copy anime they saw on TV.
honestly disregarding the art style clash it's just not really scary. i don't see the point of it. it's not really as accurate to its inspirations as it could be and it's just kind of trying too hard to be shocking without really having earned it.
it feels more like early 2000s webcore aesthetic twitter account bait than anything worth while on its own. which is a shame cause i wanted to like it on its own merits.

What a shitty parody. It's way too straighforward. Lacey's games are supposed to seem absolutely normal and naïve until you do something wrong. That's the scary part, the underlying brutality.
In this video it's impossible to play the game right. Also Lacey shouldn't look scared, she's supposed to be nice and dandy all the way until the shit really hits the fan.
The video is still mildly scary, but it's not the same.
I had similar misgivings at first, that they sold out to make LORE. I was afraid it'd be like The Mandela Catalogue and just take something good and ruin it by trying to fix what wasn't broken.
I like how the creator didn't rehash the formula from Lacey's Diner, but took some different inspiration from horror, tried a different approach to being scary.
If I wanted more Lacey's Diner, I could always just rewatch Lacey's restaurant.
This shit looks way too 2010s from the colors to the overly detailed character designs. Fricking nobody in the 2000s would have put that much attention into the animal fur, and a lot of the fashion choices scream 2010s. What's weird is that they got the backgrounds pretty right but the character designs are extremely modern.
For the sake of the thread, here's what an actual late 2000s "complicated" flash animation looked like. This one was actually featured by youtube back when they had a featured video on the main page that was hand-selected.
That's a short film, not what lacey is going for. Here's a typical example of a genuine mid-2000s dress-up game: https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/351406
I'm fully aware, I was just using that as a visual comparison for the horror aspects. And Lacey still doesn't look like your example either, it feels like it's following way more modern design trends.
I agree but I'm willing to excuse a lot of deviation from the source material when that material is low-effort mid aughts newgrounds games. Its bigger problem is it doesn't seem to do anything new or even notably well.
The problem is that while the art style it's trying to ape wasn't anything actually great, it's still trying to capture that particular feeling. If you're using a visual medium and you're not able to capture the feeling you're going for, your work is going to come off as inauthentic, even if that feeling that it's trying to capture is "Teenagers making quick mockup art on Newgrounds in 2007."
I feel weird about this video. I can’t shake the feeling we’re being told too much up front. I always found Lacey scary because how there’s clearly a larger story, just that we weren’t being told enough, and everything was a dead end. But still, can’t help but enjoy it.
Go frick yourself, that guy deserves to be doxxed for what he’s created. Horror shouldn’t be upsetting, it should tell a story and connect psychologically, not trigger and disturb people, it should make you feel. I hate him, I hate nosleep666, and I hate the Lacey games. What if someone who was abused/raped sees this? Horror shouldn’t be triggering or have heavy themes, it should upset you and make you think, not use actual things that happen in. Horror shouldn’t have triggering topics.
[...]
Not Alex, shitbag. Mandela Catalogue is good…But I still don’t like it. Also Alex is shit for going back on his statement, he can frick himself. The only thing his shit is good for is cute ships.
I’m not baiting. I’m sick of horror using topics that shouldn’t be used, it’s not real fricking horror if it laughs at shit like rape, murder, abuse ect.
I’m sick of horror using triggering topics to tell a story. You can make horror without being problematic af and potentially messing with someone’s triggers…

Not Alex, shitbag. Mandela Catalogue is good…But I still don’t like it. Also Alex is shit for going back on his statement, he can frick himself. The only thing his shit is good for is cute ships.
No, I’m a horror fan who’s seen the effects it has on younger horror fans and ppl with certain triggers. You’re not a horror fan, you’re a fan of romanticizing things that shouldn’t be romanticized. Eat shit. Horror should be disturbing but oddly comforting, it should connect and be a vent outlet. It’s not supposed to hurt people psychologically or make light of serous topics.
>art looks like late 2010s early 2020s >sound quality in the interview is uncompressed, which wasn't possible with most commercial microphones back then >edginess stops at death and gore
Would be better if she dropped the 2000s faux flash game thing because these things stick out.
I like the normal version enough as it is, but I gotta admit this version runs circles around it in the "actually looks like a flashgame" area. Phone and Picture featured added is a fantastic touch that genuinely really adds to everything.
RAPE lacey
> They made her stalker eat her instead of having him violently rape her because rape is a big no no no
boring.
>not reverse-voring her through his butthole and becoming pregnant with her as his new fetus
tedious
she already got rape by her uncle genius
mfw
lacey cute
Lacey is VERY cute.
imagine her putting you on a leash haha
Lacey is such a silly girl
I don’t get it
take your shitty zoomer horror somewhere else for it look NOTHING like flash game form 2007 or any year that mater
TSMT, this shouldn't even count as "faux flash game" just straight up zoomer homosexualry posing as something they probably weren't even around to experience. (Bugbo does this so much better btw)
zoomers were around for flash games... IDK what you're on about. you can just say it sucks without bringing in generation wars moronation.
>thinks flash games weren't all the rage among Zoomers
WHAT THE FRICK IS A ZOOMER, ANYMORE?
how old are the supposed to be in your imagination? Are they teens, are they children, what the frick?

idk it kind of reminds me of a certain kind of flash game, at least until it goes all spooky.
Don’t do that, how am I supposed to complain about zoomers now?!
Don't worry anon, it's still trash. It uses Raster Graphics for a Vector Medium, it's a phony
Y'know, since trying to emulate every piece of media made before 2016 is the 'it thing' right now, I thought there'd be more Zoomers picking up Flash to appear low-tech and cool. There's still a lot of Actionscript resources on Newgrounds if you ask around in the Game Dev forum.

it's no jeff the killer I'll tell you what.

There's definitely a steep learning curve if you want to code anything more complicated than dress-up game but I think it's easy once you jump that hurdle.
Looking good anon.
Add the sneed hat.
Forgot pic for reference.

The dress up game is pretty on point as well outside the horror stuff
>flashgame 2021
so still not 2007 then
even YouTube's algorithm doesn't think it fits 2007
That's a 2021 recording, the game is still late 00s
>the game is still late 00s
you sure?
Seems like post-2010 to me.
>the game is still late 00s
No it's not, it's painfully obvious that it isn't.
the video was made in 2021. there are other recordings of this game that date back to 2010 at least
>date back to 2010 at least
so again still newer than 2007
There's no game, it's a 2020s creepypasta. I don't know why anon is being a gay about it, besides the obvious.
I'm not talking about that I'm talking about the devil hairdresser game anon posted as an example of a 2007 flash game when it clearly isn't
Cute designs.
Yeah I agree with these, it totally removes you from the tone it's trying to go for because it doesn't look like anything that would have come out at the time. thats the thing, the elements of analog horror are still there the only thing that has changed the look of it
i just found this in devianart.
opinions?
They could suffer together until Lacey learns about Nias piss fetish
Lacey eats people, I’m sure she can handle a little pee.
throw it the fire
Cute friends
I am getting some hardcore BDSM vibes
>'Where we're going we won't need safewords'
Who is the top and who is the bottom? What is your rationale?
Aw, cute.
Rape union
Goth, Prep alliance
Lacey's not prep, she's Stacy-lite
Barbie is prep
Someone here made a mock up of Nia in the dress up game
Other people started making it a real thing but I'm not sure if they got the reference
I wonder how that game is going.
Never mind.
Nice.
They should kiss
can a drawgay do either of these please?
People still use DeviantArt?
who is nia
she is the main character of this channel
https://www.youtube.com/@Nosleep666
don't bring Nia anywhere near this troony traumacore crap
But anon, ICS is also troony traumacore crap
I don't see any trigger warnings in ICS
I love this vid it's pretty spooky in a good way I like how you notice that lacey immediately gets more and more uncomfortable
I quit watching after two minutes.
bump

*so it's clearly not impossible to replicate either, it feels like the creator...
No idea how I fricked that up so hard
Really? Picos dating sim had similar art and that was 2004
not with these horrifically desaturated colors. b***h looks like she belongs on breakcore album art.
how would lacey fair in a porn flash game?
Going by the website we’ll find out in the next video
What a shitty parody. It's way too straighforward. Lacey's games are supposed to seem absolutely normal and naïve until you do something wrong. That's the scary part, the underlying brutality.

It's because people latched on to it so now it HAS to have backstory
I had similar misgivings at first, that they sold out to make LORE. I was afraid it'd be like The Mandela Catalogue and just take something good and ruin it by trying to fix what wasn't broken.

Ah yes, 2000's flash content. Known for its muted, earth tone color palette. Not obnoxious default color selections and ugly color gradients.
I skipped through it like I did the other two. I wish the horror was more subtle in this sort of thing.
This shit looks way too 2010s from the colors to the overly detailed character designs. looks like trooncore
Which customer would you want to sex with? Obvious one is goth one.
Tired uncle my beloved
Girl with tank top. :3
I cannot tell if the goth is suppose to be a girl or a boy.
I’m leaning towards boy
I'd definitely frick the fourth girl with the tanktop.
For me it’s the beret girl
Jay
needs more vajayjay bones
Its her turn next.
I don’t want her to suffer
Suffering is all they know
She's cute, I wanna see her suffer
You're sick. This whole series is, watching women suffer is sick. I want it remade but it's all cute boys.
She will, eventually
Goth always
the 2nd one from the left
I feel weird about this video. I can’t shake the feeling we’re being told too much up front. I always found Lacey scary because how there’s clearly a larger story, just that we weren’t being told enough, and everything was a dead end. But still, can’t help but enjoy it.
I take this back, it’s honestly fine, just long.
S'alright.
>very first comment is troony shit
this is supposed to be scary?
Me on the left.
This episode seemed a bit more like dark humor.
>"i found a key in the middle of my edgy moment"
>the long neck hamster
>the skelecat
the man just wanted a turtle to smile at him.
he wants to smile back
>troons making up trauma for attention
Can someone photoshop a noose around the troonys neck? it's perfect for this screenshot
no
Is not troony
We got a glimpse of Lacey's friends in the beginning, when are they gonna get their own video?
Damn
The one on the left has massive mams
They have the girl's toyline feel to'em.
>The tomboy/skater girl
Would
whats the black girls name?
please stop with the obvious bait
I’m not baiting. I’m sick of horror using topics that shouldn’t be used, it’s not real fricking horror if it laughs at shit like rape, murder, abuse ect.
>drawn flatter than the rest of her friends
Good, anything to make her suffer
She’s better that way
Perfect
As she should be.
Whew
Jay is obviously the best one out of the bunch
I’m sick of horror using triggering topics to tell a story. You can make horror without being problematic af and potentially messing with someone’s triggers…
Hello Alex, when's the next Mandela catalog?
Yeah I like horror that can be scary without being tasteless. Heard urbanspook does a good job at that. You should try it out.
Go frick yourself, that guy deserves to be doxxed for what he’s created. Are you that cucker guy people talk about?
>Mandela Catalogue is good
You're everything wrong with modern horror, I hate you do much
No, I’m a horror fan who’s seen the effects it has on younger horror fans and ppl with certain triggers. You’re not a horror fan, you’re a fan of romanticizing things that shouldn’t be romanticized. why are younger people watching horror films?
Kids love spooky shit
Zoomers when horror is horrifying
>Horror should be disturbing but oddly comforting
underage comfygays are the worst thing to happen to horror since the puritans of the 80s
Horror should be shocking and brutal.
Black person, stop crying about a fricking Channel for kids and go pay to see a actual adult movie
grow up
>art looks like late 2010s early 2020s

Would be better if she dropped the 2000s faux flash game thing because these things stick out.
why do people care so much about "oomer" bullshit? Why can't you just judge a thing in a vacuum?
Okay Vacoomer.
Lacey if soul
I like the normal version enough as it is, but I gotta admit this version runs circles around it in the "actually looks like a flashgame" area. Phone and Picture featured added is a fantastic touch that genuinely really adds to everything.
Now THAT'S classic.
Alright, that's pretty close to 2007 moe shit.
This is what Lacey soul is missing!
kind of embarassing to see someone from my country do this online-brained content warning shit. i guess it is a woman making these after all
>woman
No you’re not
Why is this gay shitting up the thread forcing the idea that horror is only one certain thing?
Why do gen z/alpha think they know what horror is when all they really care about is the aesthetic and vibe?
Because underage and they never left the walled garden
What stuff that you considered horror?
Can you care to repeat that but this time in coherent English?
horror attracts a certain type of autism
Wanna kiss this Lacey
I won't lie, that face in the background does trigger my flight or fight response.
He's every simp's final form.
Incorrect. No rape was involved.
