I’ve watched the movie but haven’t heard any fan theories. I thought the movie was okay but I’d seen the image of the big jumpscare before so it was underwhelming / whatever when I saw it in the film.
usually I hate people asking to be spoonfed on here but OP is being absolutely moronic especially considering its a movie most people say is mediocre, I haven't watched it yet cause I've been convinced that its not very scary
It gets rec'd constantly, on Cinemaphile and elsewhere. If you go on troonyboxd you can see it's one of the top watched horror movies of the 2000s.
Outside of Cinemaphile contrarians this is a well-liked found footage film and it's one of the most well-known.

Oh, I thought you meant real people. No one I know has ever heard of it.

Nobody cares if your wife's boyfriend's heard about it. Found footage fans, the audience for the movie, know it.

Found footage fans must be moronic then because it's one of the tamest, most boring found footage movies I've ever seen (never mind that it's more a pseduo-documentary than found footage). The Last Broadcast, Murder Death Koreatown, hell even Grave Encounters 2 are all better

You're right that Murder Death Koreatown is based, but Lake Mungo is kino. It's "tame" in the same way Blair Witch Project and Ringu are, it's a subtle creepiness.

It's not kino and not creepy. BWP and Ringu actually build atmosphere, Lake Midgo feels like a shitty cable tv program that never builds any momentum and literally only has a single "scary" moment

>BWP and Ringu actually build atmosphere
So does Lake Mungo. >feels like a shitty cable tv program
That's the point, it starts as a standard tv ghost show but then it changes into weird psychic shit and premonitions of death.

>it changes into weird psychic shit and premonitions of death
No it doesn't, this is what people mean when they say they get memed into watching it. None of that shit happens apart from a single really shitty phonecam that lasts all of 5 seconds.
The Outwaters is better and more engaging

>No it doesn't,
Yes it does. Alice's dreams, the sessions with the psychic that Alice and her mom take where their visions overlap, the weird "funeral" where she buries her personal belongings.

That's not weird psyhich shit, it's just shit.

It literally is. You're just a fricking moron. >chuds
Kek this is so sad.
It's not "traditionally" scary. It is, essentially, a very simple (fake) documentary about a girl who dies, and the family believes her ghost is still around. The entire documentary seems believably real, in the sense that it's not giving you a whole lot and it's mostly people recounting their experiences rather than any conclusive proof. The type you'd see in cheesy cable TV shows like Ghost Hunters or whatever.
It pays off, though. There's subtle hints of what actually happens, and you'd have to pay attention for the ending scene to have any effect. I'd argue it's more "unsettling" than scary, but it definitely won't have the same effect if you've never bothered to watch legitimate documentaries.
>I'd argue it's more "unsettling" than scary, but it definitely won't have the same effect if you've never bothered to watch legitimate documentaries.
Yeah growing up my family watched a lot of the shitty ghost documentary shows so it clicked with me.
This movie is a very mid, Australian version of Twin Peaks done in documentary style and without all the surrealism >Oi, we found out that our daughter was a massive prostitute then we threw some shrimp on the barbie
It's a story about a girl who's last name is Palmer who gets killed in a body of water and all the mystery and dark circumstances that led up to her death, including her previously unknown prostitutedom with locals.
But it isn't good like Twin Peaks so in that sense you're correct
i love how this movie only defense is "you don't get it chud!", it's almost as if it was shitty artsy fartsy movie and its fanatics were using that excuse as a cope
The only found footage film I really enjoyed was Occult and it was a shot on an iphone direct to youtube movie by the guy who directed Noroi. Whoever played the main schizo guy was so damn good, the lack of special effects for the ending kinda tanked it for how ambitious they tried to go but the rest of the film is absolutely great. Check it out if you want:
My theory is that a lot of people would like it more if it was advertised as a paranormal family drama instead of "super hidden horror gem" as it usually is. It's more about the family coping with loss than anything.
i believe the movie sucked.
fpbp
this film is a the biggest scam recommendation of all time, i firmly believe someone is farming bots to recommend this pos
RLM recommending this movie is how i realized they were hack frauds
What fan theories?
I’ve watched the movie but haven’t heard any fan theories. I thought the movie was okay but I’d seen the image of the big jumpscare before so it was underwhelming / whatever when I saw it in the film.
>make "horror" movie
>the only thing horrifying about it is how boring it is
What did Australia mean by this?
So you didn't get it.
Nah, we got how fricking boring the movie is.
believe them? no. but i like reading them. of what do you speak of
Are you gonna post the fan theory or not homosexual?
Im finna bout to take this thread off my threadwatcher

I enjoyed it and thought it was scary. It being bad is typical Cinemaphile contrarianism because the movie got popular.
>thought it was scary
this has to be bait
You have to be a moronic troony.
jaja he called it right
It's not worth giving the wojaktroony (You)s
nah, it's boring. nothing happens, the plot is shallow and there's no horror to speak of
>the movie got popular
What?

It has one scary scene and its a jumpscare.

How is that a jumpscare though

I believe the fan theory about the lake mungo remains being a separate race from modern aboriginals
this movie sucked and i was suckered into watching this tripe
This movie is a very mid, Australian version of Twin Peaks done in documentary style and without all the surrealism
>Oi, we found out that our daughter was a massive prostitute then we threw some shrimp on the barbie
Oh, so it's nothing like twin peaks, got it.
It's a story about a girl who's last name is Palmer who gets killed in a body of water and all the mystery and dark circumstances that led up to her death, including her previously unknown prostitutedom with locals.
But it isn't good like Twin Peaks so in that sense you're correct
>ahhhh are those twin peaks easter eggs this movie must be like twin peaks
go back
Tons of ADHD in here.
I love this movie.
If by fan theories you mean the brother thing then no I don't.
Yeah this shit sucked dick, one of you memed me into watching it
>troony-obsessed chudcel thinks Lake Mungo is a good movie
moron confirmed, keep seething little queer
>getting so mad about me using troony as an insult that you have to post about it
Kek. You'll get used to it if you lurk more.
i love how this movie only defense is "you don't get it chud!", it's almost as if it was shitty artsy fartsy movie and its fanatics were using that excuse as a cope

thanks for proving my point
Thanks for the you, dum dum.
>i love how this movie only defense is "you don't get it chud!
No, the one's calling people "chuds" are you gays, see
It is the exact opposite of "artsy fartsy", what the frick are you on about? It's insanely simple and the concept is immensely easy to grasp.
have a nice day.
