She didn't even send out a manifesto or send a message. They wouldn't have had any reason to believe it wasn't a Separatist attack and probably would have just doubled down on the war effort.

Because Star Wars writers are incapable of writing a reasonable arc of a character turning evil, they always just instantly snap and turn into edgelords.
I think it's implied she's been taking the Dark Side in for some time, but that can only explain so much. I like to think Barris was only trying to do a bombing with minimal to no casualties, but she screwed up.
It was a good twist. You're just butthurt that her being evil got in the way of your ship.

The bigger crime is that "canon" Barriss got demoted. She was a Knight during Episode 2 but now she's Luminara's padawan again.
Her whole character arc is a prime example for why the Dark Side is a stupid idea.

The idea of the Dark Side is that you're using the Force for your own selfish desires instead of utilizing the Force to serve it. Most people who turn to the Dark Side do it for power or/and freedom, but in doing so, it makes you act crazy and evil. Most people don't start off masacring and enslaving, it's just that in pursuit of power, it makes you more and more self destructive to accrue more and more power. It's why seemingly sensible guys like Dooku or Sheev inevitably become too psychotic.
I'm eighty five percent sure the Dark Side is actually a sort of immuno response of the Force to make sure sapient beings that try to abuse it are too hampered and crazy to actually do anything long term.

My bet is that she will show up in the Ahsoka show as some kind of super inquisitor.
