What are you talking about? I don't know if it has something to do with the friendship that Japan had with Peru but one of the first allies of the Chinese was Chile
It was just a bit of good ol' sable rattling. Chile has always had a pretty good navy, but they have always struggled fighting inland. It's how the peruvian guerrillas stopped your advance in the Andes and forced a peace deal with some concessions instead of letting you guys annex half the country. Hell, I don't think there would be as much resentment from Peru had the Chileans actually held the referendum that was promised in Arica instead of stalling everything until America got tired trying to get everyone along and quit mediating, forcing the peruvian side to take Chile's deal.
Fun fact argentina actually had a lot of its professional military stationed in the chile border as right before falkands they almost went to war before the pope intervened.
Chile has a reputation of always backstabing and betraying other SA countries. They are always trying to find someone to point to. throw a tantrum and cry
The other SA countries do nothing but frick each other over. The only difference is Chile Teamed up with the Brits during Argentina's Island Fun adventure. The other countries are salty b***hes that one of them got in good with the rest of the world and they didn't.
Latin America has a "Crabs in a bucket" mentality when it comes to nationalities that are actually doing pretty good, so they hate Chile since it's the most successful country in the region nowadays. Their hatred used to be directed towards Argentina but now that place is a shithole so they increasingly overlook it. The thing is that unlike crabs in a bucket they can't actually do anything to hold a successful country back, so all they do is seethe impotently at whatever one's doing the best.
Okay so, part of it is wars. Another part is that Chile got itself a based dictator once that really made the country better than the rest of south america, and they reaped the benefits of that one for years.
Last part is soccer. They were fricking insufferable.
Also, Bolivia deserved to lose that sea.
You started it you homosexuals. We even gave you back Tacna, so what are you b***hing about. Now shut up or we'll conquer Lima AGAIN. We'll make sure to bring a lot of pigeons to keep you fed.
Chileans and Argentinians have a different character from the rest of south america, they're colder, more off-standish people who, besides looking a little whiter, just act a little more European in general, mainly due to the fact it gets cold and depressing as hell in the south. They don't have that "latino spice" and energy, Argentinians specifically have a much more sardonic and cynical sense of humor. You can hear the difference in their Romantic, pop and rock, basically all genres of music before reggaeton mindbroke the entire spanish speaking world.
Can any Latinanons explain WHY the frick reggaeton took you guys over so hard? Compared to basically all of your music traditions it sounds like fricking horseshit.
It's hip hop for spics, low effort so "everyone" can make it, it's "popular" because it's poor people friendly, and it appeals to the lowest common denominator of talking about drugs b***hes and being a tough gangster.
Every few years, a style of music takes over and floods everything, then is dethroned by something else and stays around but is never as popular again.
For decades it was a stable combination of cumbia, merengue, cha-cha-cha, and baladas, then lambada showed up and monopolized everything for a while. Then it was Mexican rancheras, then Argentinian "sound" cumbia, then Brazilian axé, then Argentinian cumbia villera, and now reggaeton from whatever the frick butthole it came out of.
It's turned out to be way more long lasting than the others, which had around 5 to 8 years on the throne each (some others lasted only a couple years, like vallenato, cachengue , and weirdly enough, weird meme Spanish songs), but reggaeton has been going on for well over a decade now.
One could argue that reggaeton already passed and now it's "trap" or some shit like that, but I don't know.
I work in a public university in southern california. I am going to an event and MECHA members with florescent hair and 6 units of spanish language lessons will be there.
I am making a blatant request for 3 authentic mexican insults.
For guys try; >Boludo (idiot) >Indio (Idiot but in a racist way) >Pendejo (Idiot again) >Cabron (Not specically anything but an insult none the less) >Cornudo (cuck) But is mostly for people from south america.
for females try >Tortillera (Poor and dirty) >Puta (prostitute) >Borinqueña (also prostitute, if they are old school) >Chancluda (Ugly, poor, uneducated) >Puerca (Nasty bawd)
Keep in mind Latin friendships follow the "Stand by me rules" where is ok to insult your friends as long as they do the same.
>Cabron (Not specically anything but an insult none the less)
Cabron is multiuse: from praise for doing something impressive, to envy for doing something you would like to do, to general insult, to a warning for being bothersome, to ridicule for being a cuck.
That's just insults in LATAM in general >tfw Marico (homosexual) was a deep insult for most of my high-school life, then it became another word for "friend" in college.
Guess which country I'm from just from this tid bit, it should be easy if you are truly latin
I can only see this ending horribly for you. They'll more likely be confused by what you said if anything. >And if they get all offended, I'll just appologize, call myself a chino cabron.
From that sentence alone, I can already see your face, and the feel the awkwardness oozing from your face bro.
They'll pity you if anything.
I'm OK with taking that risk. I'm confident in my abilities here. I'm good friends with some of the emigrated people from Guatalahara. And even if I do get fired over this, I already have more than enough voicemail and recordings of these people talking incredibly racist shit in spanish when they thought nobody else was understanding, so I'll come out fine, possibly somewhere else.
>MECHA
I fricking hate that group, just a bunch of virtue signaling and doing nothing of worth. The one in my old uni went to the border to help illegal migrants and give them water only for the migrants to tell them to frick off and give themselves to border patrol, LMAO.
It was a bad idea to have a Latam thread in the middle of the primos debacle. morons like are going to post bait to derail the thread and we hardly will get any good fanart like usual. OP you are an inbred moron.

People were laughing at it until someone found that the creator made an instagram post calling the country their parents came from a shithole country (people claim it's a critique on Trump calling Haiti a shithole country but how do you expect non-Americans to know) and that triggered them badly into SJW levels of butthurt.
That and the creator virtue signaling and calling them grammar nazis which a lot of barely fluent in English Latinos took as the voice actress calling them nazis.

No, you fricking idiot. The problem with this region goes beyond left and right politics.
Yeah, Hugo Chavez leftism doesn't exactly help, but on the other hand the best the right can offer is keeping things the same. The only one out here doing something is Bukele, going after criminals and using public funds to actually benefit the people instead of brainlessly use it for gibs(the fricking first ever forensic analisis lab in the country was done under his rule). Making both the Salvadorean established right and left ape out.
Great cartoon thread, guys
We can thank the moron OP for kickstarting the thread with a politically charged image.
>Bukele >Human rights activist groups criticize him for how inhumanely he treats criminals and gang members >"Okay. Take 'em. Get them out of here." >Activists suddenly went quiet
El Salvador will definitely fall into chaos once Bukele gets the boot one way or another, but El Salvador will be an interesting country to observe in the coming years.
Lol replied to the wrong post, stay mad twat
No? I was specifically referring to you and your shit taste in shows.
>El Salvador will definitely fall into chaos once Bukele gets the boot one way or another >implying El Salvador hasn't already descended into chaos post-2002/2003
Doesn't help that a lot of them are coming here to Colombia when we are already in a terrible state. I really wanna leave, and I hate to leave my home country but it's for the best.
i made an argentinian friend about 10 months ago and we're so alike and we talk every day and he's an awesome guy. Not really on topic but i wanted to say argentinabros... you aite....
England doesn't have a global empire anymore, an empire technically encompasses several kingdoms, which England doesn't. There's an arguable "The UK does" but it really doesn't. The EU is more of a kingdom than England is at the moment.

feels bad, you would think people would start sharing their actual culture and what have they accomplished, but guess they have no idea about their culture either.
was it North Korea tier where 1/3 of their country's farms drowned or Philippines tier where they have to move their capital every few ears because the country gets flooded on a semi-regular basis?
Anybody had a English subbed version of this batshit insane brazilian puppet porn. The full thing is on YouTube without subs, but sadly I don't speak portuguese.
Also
Here is one of the director shorts with English subs Here is one of the director's short films with English subs, so you all can appreciate the level of insanity of his films:
I can only speak of Chile, but from the 50's there were magazines that published some of the oldschool serialized comics, like Prince Valiant or Tarzan, various romance comics, and other pulp series. The magazines also included articles and photos about contemporary trends, musicians, in some cases fashion, or sports. Some were educational, with information and materials to help kids with their homework.
By the 70's these kind of magazines (mostly the educational ones at this point) were still printing old pulp comics, but also more modern European comics (like some of Uderzo's works), and making their own. There were a lot of comic strips before, from Condorito to Pepe Antártico and many others, but they were just funny strips; famously, the Mampato magazine started serializing its own ongoing stories, like eponymous Mampato comic, which would continue serialization in other magazines after the Mampato magazine ended.
Around this time, publishers also started putting out Disney comics, and other cartoon-branded books.
Superhero comics like Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man started coming in during the 70's (along with the movies and TV shows of the era), but more general DC and Marvel books wouldn't make it until the 80's. The first comics I started collecting were by an Argentinian publisher called Perfil, which had a weird habit of changing the characters' names. Some you'd understand, they were just approximate translations, like Blue Beetle becoming Bicho Azul (Blue Bug, as they didn't think Escarabajo rolled off the tongue so easily for kids); but then they'd go and change The Flash to "Flush-Man".
In the 90's, we started getting books from Spanish and Mexican publishers. I particularly remember Mexican books having horrible typesetting.
By the late 90's and early 2000's, things became more normal, and we started even getting direct imports in English, along with the Manga explosion.
I don't know what more I can say, but ask if you want.
hey thanks, that's the kind of info i was looking for.
so, it was mostly serialized newspaper comics that were imported, and the superheroes didn't come in until the 70s and 80s. can you tell me about domestic newspaper comics? i heard that some countries started publishing their own comics in newspapers as early as the 1920s, but not much else.
>can you tell me about domestic newspaper comics? i heard that some countries started publishing their own comics in newspapers as early as the 1920s, but not much else.
To be honest, I don't know much about that. I can tell you that there were many comic strips in many magazines as early as the 50's, and I'm certain there must have been some strips in newspapers at that time and earlier, but I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what.
The earliest I can tell you about is magazines like El Pingüino, that started publication in the mid-50's, and was a "gentleman's magazine", so basically a ton of comic strips with adult jokes (that is to say, jokes about adult life, about jobs, about wives, etc; and of course there were some mildly spicy ones), and photos of pretty ladies in clothes scandalous for the era.
I know of earlier publications, like El Peneca, a comic strip magazine for kids, but I don't think I've ever seen an issue, despite hearing a lot about it from my grandpa.
Now, I looked into it a little, and at least in Chile (and I'd imagine in most of the neighboring countries), there's been at least political caricatures since the 19th century. A political newspaper called El Correo Literario started in the 1830's, and it had political illustrations about local political happenings. There were a lot of comic strip publications in the early 20th century, including the 1906 comic with who's considered to be the first Chilean Comic character, Otto Von Pilsener, a German immigrant in Chile.
If you can read Spanish, you can look here for some info:
http://www.memoriachilena.gob.cl/602/w3-article-595.html
And you can look here for some more info and even downloadable scans of Mampato, El Pingüino, and even El Peneca, among others.

The good ending
Argentina still exists so it isn't good
Why are you brownies so obsessed with us?
why are you so obsessed over some british island?
Britain try to invade us twice in 1806 we don't trust them.
Sol solecito calientame un poquito.
why does everyone hate Chile explain to a moronic burger
Chile blame south Americans embracing socialism and sucking up to china for being poor.
Are we talking about the same Chile who has a yellow socialist as the current president?
What are you talking about? I don't know if it has something to do with the friendship that Japan had with Peru but one of the first allies of the Chinese was Chile

So they are hated because they were right?
they are incomprehensible
Football, no other reason
I don't get it either but they really got screwed, from what I can tell the whole country is just the mountains nobody else wanted
Why is it so thin lmao
Magic
Natural borders. They are separated from Argentina and Peru by the Andes mountains.
Chile has betrayed (in wars) many South American countries in the past, for example in the maldina's Chile help Great britain
moronic example, since argentina betrayed chile several times before that event
>for example in the maldina's Chile help Great britain
>Try to invade south Chile many times.
>Invade Falkland first for moronic reason and find out.
>Help me Chile!.
>Lol no.
>Traaaiiiiitooooor.
South America 101
Chile did nothing wrong, losing Las Malvinas was essential for Argentina to be free from La Junta.
nah

You mean the Falklands?

football, got really wienery during their national team golden era, 2015-2017

Their version of Spanish apparently inflicts physical distress on their neighbors. Basically this strip.
Some spaniards call LatAm versions of spannish "bastardo español" aka Bastard Spannish. Which is funny and reminds me thats scene
They stole all the coastline
Chile hired Prussian advisors to help them form their military back in the day.
The results speak for themselves
Backstabbing bastards who stole land. Can't wait for those frickers to be erradicated one day.

We can thank the moron OP for kickstarting the thread with a politically charged image.
>Bukele
>Human rights activist groups criticize him for how inhumanely he treats criminals and gang members
>"Okay. Take 'em. Get them out of here."
>Activists suddenly went quiet
El Salvador will definitely fall into chaos once Bukele gets the boot one way or another, but El Salvador will be an interesting country to observe in the coming years.
No? I was specifically referring to you and your shit taste in shows.
>El Salvador will definitely fall into chaos once Bukele gets the boot one way or another
>implying El Salvador hasn't already descended into chaos post-2002/2003
Doesn't help that a lot of them are coming here to Colombia when we are already in a terrible state. I really wanna leave, and I hate to leave my home country but it's for the best.
>South America is poor largely do to socialism

i made an argentinian friend about 10 months ago and we're so alike and we talk every day and he's an awesome guy. Not really on topic but i wanted to say argentinabros... you aite....

England doesn't deserve a global empire. not even the islands.
England doesn't have a global empire anymore, an empire technically encompasses several kingdoms, which England doesn't. There's an arguable "The UK does" but it really doesn't. The EU is more of a kingdom than England is at the moment.
shut up bong Black person. If he was really too much of a Black person rapebaby to reply you wouldn't bother replying. You being mad makes you look blacker than the argentinian
Isnt that Africa
Eh, what a shame. But that comic still speaks the truth regardless.
If it helps, I made a version that just removes Doomineto's OC entirely
>LatAm comics and cartoons
>nobody posting LatAm comics and cartoons
>OP image shitting on Chile
It was rigged from the start
feels bad, you would think people would start sharing their actual culture and what have they accomplished, but guess they have no idea about their culture either.
You also know this thread only exists because "Oye Primos" showed anons that a lot of Latin Americans browse this board. This thread is bait.
It wasn't a good time to have a Latam thread but OP is a moron.
What happens here?
Rainstorms. Worse than you could possibly imagine.
was it North Korea tier where 1/3 of their country's farms drowned or Philippines tier where they have to move their capital every few ears because the country gets flooded on a semi-regular basis?
Somewhat, I just remember hearing how a hurricane like storm destroyed the part of the continent
>one makes Venezuela seethe by just existing
>the other relies heavily on Dutch funding
>the other one is literally just used as a EU space station
They make webcomics about FFVII and cartoons about lesbian rocks.
Did someome already post the correct form would be "oye primo" or "oigan primos" for plural?
Isn't that like complaining about people using "ain't?"
no
"oye primo" (Singular). "oigan primos" (Plural)
It's moronic people then say Chile betrayed argentina when argentina tried to invade them a few years prior.
I am Argentinian btw.

Here is one of the director shorts with English subs Here is one of the director's short films with English subs, so you all can appreciate the level of insanity of his films:
nice thread morons

And you can look here for some more info and even downloadable scans of Mampato, El Pingüino, and even El Peneca, among others.
