At least during the Bush years, it was a very goofy show.

Loved Conan growing up. His style of self deprecating humor really hit while he was coming up as a host in the early days. His interviews with Norm are some of my favorite talk show clips of all time. Seeing him navigate the late night wars when he was briefly promised the tonight show only for Leno to snatch it away from him was an exciting time too. Late night is more or less dead now. Craig Ferguson was the last great host. All the new guys are shameless sycophants. Fallon is especially disappointing because he has potential as an entertainer but the tonight show’s mainstream pop format holds him back. He was much better in Conan’s old time slot.

      >Leno to snatch it away
It wasn't that simple. First NBC forced Leno out. Second they offered his job back once Conan wasn't drawing ratings. The reality here is Late Night was on it's last legs. Leno had and old demographic that was loyal but there was no one for Conan. Conan should have modernized his act to stay relevant because Fallon and others did.

Imo Leno’s format was dull and antiquated. Conan had more edge and and given the opportunity could have restored the tonight show’s legacy as a proving ground for rising comedic stars. Nobody respects the tonight show anymore, partly because of the Leno debacle and due to the sterile, toothless form it’s taken in recent years. All it is now is Fallon fake laugh celebrity worship hour. I wouldn’t call him “relevant”. It’s just what’s on TV, same as SNL. Nobody actually likes it, it’s just coasting on past prestige.

Itnwas a specific flaw in Conan's contract, that The Tonight Show starts at 11:30. They wanted to give Jay a half-hour show at 11:30 where he would do his, monolague, a bit, and a guest. They were going to then push Conan's tonight show back to 12:00 start time and Conan balked.

He just said that to frick with the guy because he was being antisemitic.

Being semitic is pretty fricking pathetic, on account of israelites being the worst form of life to ever exist on this planet. Think of parasites, ticks, worms, flea, lice, those are still above the israelites.

What a terribly masculine and unattractive torso. I'll never understand zoomer taste in women like this one, Zendaya, etc.,

Sarah Gadon is 36, how can she be a zoomer?

Talks shows died in the mid '00s, not coincidentally around the time Kimmel Live! debuted which just further diluted the format.
