went downhill towards the middle, wish they did more with the backstory. But overall an enjoyable watch, also funny how most reviewers lost their shit over some AI-generated shots
I enjoyed it, but the hypnotizing element REALLY lowered the stakes. >character dies >actually they're alive, that was just a hallucination lol >character dies again >this time it's real... jk that was a hallucination too lmao
I liked it. Maybe some things could've been ironed out a bit (like the documentary-style segments between the breaks). But still good movie. I hope based Polka Dot Man gets more leading roles
I’m glad I watched it, all the actors expect the little girl were really good. Like everyone else I wish they did more to lean into the 70’s live TV aesthetic but I enjoyed it for what was, didn’t mind the silly ending either
but it's not found footage? they say it's the episode as it aired (in a time when home video was still new so probably nobody taped it, and nobody had seen it outside of its original audience)
tbh i don't see that as a problem. there's at least five levels to the movie:
1: the intro documentary
2: the episode of night owls as it aired, which makes up the bulk of the movie
3: the backstage footage (might overlap with 1)
4: the indubitably supernatural sequence of jack being trapped in the show and the flashbacks of what it took to get him there
5: the final shot which represents the objective reality of the present moment without the camera or show format as a filter
why even bother making it a "found footage" movie when they basically don't even try? just have it be a regular horror movie about a 1970s tv show host
>Found footage for no reason >Found footage angle Doesn't even make sense when ending is told through main characters perspective >first half slowly builds tension up to a 5/10 and then stays there for the rest of the movie >Ending sucked
I haven't seen it, but the "demonic little girl" trope feels so done to death, there were like ten of these movies in the last year alone. And I can't think of a single time I liked it except the original Exorcist. It always just comes off lame to me. Am I really missing something special with this one?
>found
instead of doing "behind the scenes' black and white sequences I wonder if they could just cut back to "modern" interviews ? >oh yeah I was the camera man back then >I remember (some character) saying this to me...
I get its not as dramatic as back stage stuff but it really ruins the premise of the movie being Found Footage.
i recently watched an episode of John Carpenter's suburban screams which was basically this and it was probably the worst horror-related thing i've seen in a decade
that sucks
I don't know how they could do a "found footage" and have the behind the scene stuff work.
Really they should have dropped it as a Found Footage movie anyways. They made no attempt even make the film quality LOOK like a 70s tv show
>chud cant even realize theyre making fun of him and people like him
how does it feel to know that when you go outside everyone you meet, and i mean everyone, hates your guts and wishes you were dead?
Extremely overhyped. Not sure whether people on this board REALLY love found footage or if it was a complete shill job. I'm guessing the latter since this was pretty unremarkable.
Acting was terrible all around, and they ignored the most interesting aspect of the show, which was the captive audience. Were they freaking out? Were they doubting what they were seeing? Trying to escape? Realizing the doors are supernaturally shut?
No. They sit there and react at the wrong thing at the wrong time. The sound editor should be fired for his awful placement of reaction noises.
Also, I know the show is failing, but there could have been some attempt at humor. After watching "Everybody's In LA" I can't help but think Mulaney could have really done something with this premise were he cast as the lead.
Just like every other movie from the past half decade it's trash
I don't even know why I bother anymore, every recent movie people say it's good it's actually fricking awful
rlmites did a video on it so now there is no way in hell im watching it
>still seething about no "the batman" video
it was decent
average
didnt hate it but too campy for me and the backstory was too shallow. extended twilight zone episode type deal
One of the worst found footage movies out there, and that's saying something
Ending was a cop out
went downhill towards the middle, wish they did more with the backstory. But overall an enjoyable watch, also funny how most reviewers lost their shit over some AI-generated shots
Yeah it was pretty good. I'm a big fan of found footage type stuff so I was the target audience. This year I also enjoyed Frogman.
it’s a 7 minute premise stretched to 90 minutes.
Why did people give this movie so much shit for using AI when Dune and Spiderverse movies were using it too?
I'll tell you once the production company logos have passed
See you in a half hour.
I enjoyed it, but the hypnotizing element REALLY lowered the stakes.
>character dies
>actually they're alive, that was just a hallucination lol
>character dies again
>this time it's real... jk that was a hallucination too lmao
I like it but it was a pity that the feeling of found footage vanish suddenly.
>believing the devil is real
Objectively real.
>remake "Ghostwatch" but leave out all the realistic elements that made it scary so you can be more "cinematic"
I liked it. Maybe some things could've been ironed out a bit (like the documentary-style segments between the breaks). But still good movie. I hope based Polka Dot Man gets more leading roles
It would have been better without the last few minutes.
Not really, but him putting the knife down next to the girl and then sitting next to her was a nice piece of tension even if it never got used
I’m glad I watched it, all the actors expect the little girl were really good. Like everyone else I wish they did more to lean into the 70’s live TV aesthetic but I enjoyed it for what was, didn’t mind the silly ending either
Ending was a flop but yes I liked it
it was good
the mystery was the best part and it gets a bit over the top, but it finished well
Yes. It was good enough to recommend for a horror film fan. However, it did not deserve it's IMDB rating of 7.1 I would say it's more like a 5.8 film.
I think because of that rating I was expecting more but came away disappointed.
The girl was creepy as frick, did a real good job.
yeah it was kino
was the skeleton guy the devil?
It's pretty fun, but it's a conventionally shot movie. Nothing found-footage about it.
but it's not found footage? they say it's the episode as it aired (in a time when home video was still new so probably nobody taped it, and nobody had seen it outside of its original audience)
It says so, but it doesn't commit to the style.
tbh i don't see that as a problem. there's at least five levels to the movie:

Rented this on streaming and regretted paying for it.
Didn't love up to its potential and constantly broke my suspension of disbelief but David Dastmalchian and BANE carried it to a 7/10 finish.
Was different and fun. Really good just for that alone. Only troonys and jannys didnt like it.
>Found footage for no reason
>Found footage angle Doesn't even make sense when ending is told through main characters perspective

i loved it
i thought the little girl was wearing fake arms when she first walked on set they looked really long
Didn't watch it. Restraining people should be met with butchery. Ideally all who watched it are killed violently.
I haven't seen it, but the "demonic little girl" trope feels so done to death, there were like ten of these movies in the last year alone. And I can't think of a single time I liked it except the original Exorcist. It always just comes off lame to me. Am I really missing something special with this one?
the little girl is a red herring
But she still seems like a major part of the movie, or no?
yes but shes a red herring
But what if you didn't have breakfast anon?
terrible movie but the girl was cute
it was alright, i wish they carried the suspense longer, and the ending was way too much
It was fine, I liked it, not sure where all the rave reviews were coming from, though, and jerking off to the possessed girl felt good
>We want Brie Larson, but our budget is a Snickers bar.
Who wants Bria Larson?
>found

Not bad but not great. Too much CGI. Too many points of view.
I just watched it, I enjoyed it quite a lot.
Not even a little bit.
If it took them more than a week to throw this film together, they should be extremely embarrassed.
Shit except in the scenes where this guy appears
good thing he's in like 70% of the movie
>chud cant even realize theyre making fun of him and people like him
how does it feel to know that when you go outside everyone you meet, and i mean everyone, hates your guts and wishes you were dead?
> James Randi at home
Extremely overhyped. Not sure whether people on this board REALLY love found footage or if it was a complete shill job. I'm guessing the latter since this was pretty unremarkable.
was excited for it but disappointed. It had some great ideas and some solid scenes but it couldn't tie it all together
Acting was terrible all around, and they ignored the most interesting aspect of the show, which was the captive audience. Were they freaking out? Were they doubting what they were seeing? Trying to escape? Realizing the doors are supernaturally shut?

Best horror film of the year but to be fair there hasn't exactly been a lot of competition so far
Just like every other movie from the past half decade it's trash
