It's pretty tepid in the movie and doesn't exist in the book. Note that she's calling out society instead of Steven Spielberg even though putting the two in a relationship was his doing. Wonder why she's so hesitant to call out the actual person responsible.

it's literally grant's entire character arc
they're obviously casually dating at the start but ellie wants him to get serious (marriage, kids) whereas grant is afraid of commitment and change
there's all the subtext where grant is wary about the new archaeological technology at the start, initially doesn't like kids, and is just overall really stiff and inflexible
it's not really that deep, the point is that he needs to "evolve" like the dinosaurs did if he wants to survive

She looked old for her age and he looked young for his age. Their ages aren't stated in the movie so we have to go by their appearance rather than the actors ages. Also Dern knew what was in the script about their ages, which was less than the actors age difference. She could have turned down the role but of course she put her career ahead of whatever feminist value she's now whining about.

All her efforts in this moronic cause do is draw attention to the fact that she was in her 20s in Jurassic Park despite looking like she's in her late 30s. They literally look age matched and even knowing they aren't 29 and 39 is literally no big deal. Also, she started dating Jeff Goldblum while making this movie and he's 14 years older than her. Is she suggesting that relationship was inappropriate? Or how about the fact that the last person she dated was a a Black person 12 years younger than her? Is that relationship also inappropriate?

Dern has always been a bad actress. People just like her because of muh dinosaur nostalgia. Her acting in this movie has always been so fricking awkward and the movie never felt quite right. It oddly made it feel more realistic in some ways. It felt like it was two adults talking to eachother rather than reading a script, but it was still always weird and uncanny at times. Now that I'm older I realize it's almost 100% because of Dern. Fricking legacy actors

You’re outside of the Romeo and Juliet law protection, if your state has one. Don’t do anything until she’s legal age. The age difference will at that point be enough that it’ll be slightly weird but who gives a shit.

My gf is 18 and I'm 39. Age gaps aren't as hot as people think they are, first off is she will never get to see my friends or family and vice versa because of the stigma also there is a great divide and how we communicate generally.

Half your age plus seven years, my dude. What you're doing is not illegal and I'm not even going to claim it's morally questionable, but you're so far removed from her that you have trouble engaging with her or introducing her to your peers by your own admission. That's why half+7 exists.

It’s hard introducing her because there’s nothing to say. You’re with her to frick her and that’s it, there’s not much link you can have beyond that in today’s society. I’m 34 and when I date chicks younger than 23 it’s honestly like speaking a different language.

No it does not, there are women that are intelligent and well spoken about their thoughts on a variety of subjects. I had a discussion yesterday about the highway of death with work friend. If she were an 18-year-old zoomer she would think it was a movie or some stupid shit. Most women are moronic but many aren’t, particularly non-Americans that immigrated in adulthood.

            >No it does not, there are women that are intelligent and well spoken about their thoughts on a variety of subjects.
Yes in a completely different emotionally oriented language than what a man would use because even if they aren't moronic, they are mostly concerned with feelings and superstitions rather than utility and action.

19 year old women were once running countries, commanding armies and changing the world. Now they can't date a man 10 years older than them? Honestly embarrassing. What are feminists fighting for again? The right to be fricking useless prostitutes?

  46. 7 months ago

I’m 36 and married a 27 y.o. feminist (every college educated girl bellow 30 is one), absolutely nobody has even made a comment about the age difference, except a used up prostitute from my workplace who wanted me to frick her and be the step dad for her unwanted child.
The only “people” complaining about age gaps are used up prostitutes or womancels.

Women think they are entitled to men of their generation. There is also resentment because they often date (or have an affair) with a 30+/40+ guys and when they get dumped he was automatically a manipulative narcissist or something.

No one hates younger women as much as the older hags, with whom they are competing for male resources. I've heard the nastiest comments from my 35+ female coworkers about younger women that would put even the most incarnated incel to shame.

We live in an awfully messed up world, don't you think?

Women like older men, they like 'em because they're more mature and got more money than they do. All the prime 18-25year old girls want 30 year old guys and 18-25year old guys aren't allowed to go after (willing) girls any younger. Women older than 25 can realistically only land 50+ year old men who still think these expired women are "young babes"
