My mate had me watch the first two seasons, he said it was better than The IT Crowd. He was dead wrong of course, Black Books can't hold a candle to IT, but it was funny enough to watch once and have a few good laughs. Had some great physical and visual comedy that Linehan does best, but the characters just aren't that good and the setting is too limited for plots. And I find Moran annoying, but I can imagine others saying the same about O'Dowd and Ayoade
I guess I'll give Father Ted a go too, but I can't imagine any other British-Irish comedy having a character as good as pic rel
I watched a bit of that, Berry was great but the character wasn't as good as Douglas, and the show didn't have much else going for it apart from him, so I dropped
>Enjoying IT Crowd over Black Books
Maybe that's a "normie" opinion idc man, nothing will ever be funnier than >to think when we first met, you were so worried you came from Iran
Very overrated. Same with the IT crowd.
Linehan is shite on his own, and he's gone absolutely American with his troony obsession.
Father Ted was good, but sadly that will no longer be his legacy.
>So few people are willing to stand up for what they believe in anymore.
the problem is they get bullied by troons. most troons are just incels in bad wigs who spend all day persecuting people they don't like on twitter.
Good for you. Doesn't it feel nice being right for once?
[...]
I respect the sacrifice. So few people are willing to stand up for what they believe in anymore.
he alienated himself, lost his wife, and now spends his time crying on twitter. What a great hero
Idk exactly why he got divorced, but if it's literally just because his wife was die-hard pro-troon, then she's just a b***h tbh. Although I have a feeling he's probably the zealot in this scenario and there was probably other shit that motivated her to dump him.
Because he's literally obsessed and now spends all of his time talking about trannies, writing about trannies, stalking trannies online to try to make a point. Apparently he was doing this all day on Christmas the one year, and she just said "frick it".
I'd divorce him too.
Sounds like a nutcase lol not surprised she stepped out on him

>Linehan is shite on his own,
Not really relevant here since Linehan was barely involved in Black Books past series 1. It was Dylan Moran's series, Linehan was just brought in at the start because Moran had limited experience and they wanted a reliable pair of hands on it
Glad I'm not the only person baffled by how meh this was. Graham Linehan writing and starring Bill Bailey, it should have been a classic. But something about it simply didn't work, and I don't even really know why. On paper it did everything right - funny script, funny actors, but somehow when it all came together the final result just wasn't that funny. It wasn't awful, I'd happily rewatch it again, but somehow it was never laugh-out-loud funny like you would expect it to be when you consider who worked on it.
Just wasn't as creative as it could've been, but still better than 90% of sitcoms. Dark Place is still my favourite early 2000s British comedy >Och, kill Dagless mon
The thing about figures like Linehan and JK Rowling, is they aren't "based". They're both figures who were these darlings of the middle class left, (Linehan because he was an Irishman who wrote comedy that was vaguely critical of the Irish Catholic Church when all of that was happening in the 90's. Rowling because she's a "single woman success story", and a hag of a feminist) and then all of that got taken away from them because "the left" moved further left than they were, and now they're butthurt.
It's a very specific kind of entitlement they're dealing with, after having lived comfortable lives for a long time, and thinking they were untouchable.
I don't feel particularly bad for them, because they are buttholes, and they deserved a wakeup call.
I'm not "afraid" of Graham Linehan. Not sure what you're insinuating. >Oh no! He's going to come for my troony rights!
He's not is he?
The man who ran to "Mum's Net" for emotional support after he got kicked off Twitter.
Hi, I'm Troy McClure! You may remember me from such films as "You Will Never Be A Woman", "Your Skin Is Thicker and Rougher Than That Of Woman", "Your Pores And Connective Tissue Are Arranged Differently From Those Of A Woman", "Your Bone Structure, Including Jaw, Brow Ridge, And Hips, Is Obviously Male", "You Have A Man's Hairline", "Your Ring Finger Is Longer Than Your Index Finger", "Your Navel Is Above Your Waist", "Your Body Stores Fat Differently Than A Woman's Does", "Your Saliva, Sweat and Urine Contain Male Pheromones", "You Are Biologically Incapable Of Menstruation and Pregnancy", "Every Somatic Cell In Your Body Contains The Y Chromosome", "Children Are Confused When They See You", and who can forget: "Your Parents Will Use Your Real Name When They Bury You".
All 3 Linehan shows still hold up today unlike something like The Young Ones which has no semblance of story and just 3 guys acting like complete morons
or Yes Minister where you need to know more about the UK history to appreciate it
Yeah, your posts sure are
If you're actually not intelligent enough to come up with genuine, thought-out critique, then you'd be better off not saying anything in the first place.
there was something about the filth that was just so comfy to watch
fricking living like that, never ever ever again, but watching it was comfy
and just in general the set designers did an amazing job making the bookshop just look super cozy

Careful now.
>but I can imagine others saying the same about O'Dowd and Ayoade
Fielding was the worst by far
He has the least screen time
Father Ted is britcom kino.
>waaaaaah I was raised Catholic and I'm still mad!! reeeeeeeee!
i cant imagine comparing the 2 shows
for me they are just totally different in just about every aspect other than they are british.
You suck, homosexual.
Very overrated. Same with the IT crowd.

Father Ted was good, but sadly that will no longer be his legacy.

The word "hero" doesn't really do him justice.
>The word "hero" doesn't really do him justice.
Well, that's one thing we can agree on.
Good for you. Doesn't it feel nice being right for once?

the problem is they get bullied by troons. most troons are just incels in bad wigs who spend all day persecuting people they don't like on twitter.
When your troony obsession gets so bad it literally ruins your life and marriage, then it's starting to get a little cringe.
Idk exactly why he got divorced, but if it's literally just because his wife was die-hard pro-troon, then she's just a b***h tbh. Although I have a feeling he's probably the zealot in this scenario and there was probably other shit that motivated her to dump him.
he flew off the deep end

He was spending every waking moment tweeting about transvestites.
Sounds like a nutcase lol not surprised she stepped out on him

>le wine is best wine
>le roastie can't roast!
>le goofy long norwood hair man!
*laugh track*
Stand-up's first attempt at screenwriting, it's as you'd expect
So why is it fricking lauded then!?
A couple of good jokes
>le book man no sell le books!
Hahahhahahahahahaha!
b***h please
>le 'le' meme
>le book man no like customer!
Linehan was never important.
The heavy lifting was all Arthur Matthews.

You already made this thread this 12 hours ago. Why are you still watching it?
It farmed a decent amount of (You)s so I figured I'd post it again
>Why are you still watching it?
Oh I've never actually watched it
>Why are you still watching it?
>Oh I've never actually watched it
based, literally me making threads about movies i've never seen
I don't really get it either. It weirds me out that so many people like it more than Father Ted.
OP surely sucks wieners, and likes it.

We must unite and behead these false prophets, sisters! After we dilate of course. Who's with me?
>homie thinks he's "fighting the revolution" with JK Rowling
Flipendo!
>the enemy of my enemy is my friend
you're gonna have yourself a rude awakening one day
It sucks that trannies have decided to wage a hate campaign against these people.
They're all hacks. Why do you care?

I'm surprised they have the energy with all the mass shootings they keep committing
>I'm surprised they have the energy with all the mass shootings they keep committing
Are all trannies American?
All of them happen to hate white men. Coincidence?
You have aligned yourself with troons. Your opinion, and life, is forfeit.
it's probably because you're a north american
I hear marvel makes funny jokes you might like
>Posts two more atrocious shows
Kinda proving my point
and mine
Little Britain: the same sketches over and over again (it's also been cancelled by it's creators)
Peep Show: literal demoralization PSYOP
The main character and the woman are too unlikeable. Baldman almost saves
He's the fricking worst.
They look like a band that plays Irish traditionals
It's a shame Spaced doesn't hold up.
How so?
I watched it recently and it's still great
They definitely wouldn't get away with that episode where Pegg gets high and punches that homosexual today
They wouldn't be able to afford the rent of a flat like that in London today.
You must be a very sad person tbh.Season 1 is peak Cinemaphile
>le raaaaargh! Le ciggs! le hangovaaaaaar!
*laugh track*
Oh yes, truly the peak of comedy.
Grapes of Wrath is the greatest sitcom episode of all time
